LAN Topologies in Cisco Packet Tracer

The document outlines a practical exercise for implementing various LAN topologies using Cisco Packet Tracer, including Bus, Ring, Star, Mesh, Tree, and Hybrid topologies. Each topology is described with step-by-step instructions on how to connect laptops and switches, assign IP addresses, and verify message transmission. The aim is to understand the functionality and configuration of different network topologies.

Data Communication and Networking (202044506)

Practical-4
Aim:- Implement different LAN topologies using Cisco Packet Tracer

1) Bus Topology

Step:1 - take 4 laptops and 4 switches

Step:2-connect switches through copper straight wire and connect laptop to switch
through copper cross over wire

Data Communication and Networking (202044506)

Step:3-give IP address to each computer

Step:4- make note of each IP address given to each laptop

Data Communication and Networking (202044506)

Step:5-select the source and destination laptop through which message can pass on (i.e. laptop 0
is source and laptop 2 is destination)

Step:6-message will pass through switches and reaches destination laptop

Step 7:- message is verify at destination laptop and a right trick mark is generated at source
laptop . that means our message is pass on.

2)Ring Topology
Step 1: take 4 laptop and 4 switches

Step 2: connect switches through copper cross over wire and laptop and switch through copper
straight wire

Step 5: select source and destination laptop to pass the message

Step 6: message is pass to the destination laptop and laptop will get cross mark

3)Star topology
Step 1: take 4 pc and one hub

Step 2: connect all pc to hub through copper straight wire and give ip address to each pc and
make note of it

Step 3: select the source and destination pc to pass the message

Step 4: except the destination pc all other pc will get cross mark on it
