Fitness unit

Develop Your Own Group Fitness Routine/Workout


P.E. PROJECT TERM 1

Expectations:
● Demonstrate and APPLY knowledge and understanding about THE HEALTH-related fitness
components AND THE SPORT SKILSS-related fitness components.
● Be capable of creating a basic fitness workout.

● Demonstrate responsibility and ability to work independently by completing and submitting this
project on time.
● Demonstrate the knowledge of a variety of exercises to improve fitness level.

Instructions:
This assignment is meant to challenge you in developing your very own group fitness routine/workout.
You must design and develop a fitness training routine that you will teach to a group of members of our
school community (could be teachers, students, admin…) to achieve THE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING
specific goals
● Improve at least 1of the HEALTH-related fitness components -muscular endurance, muscular
strength, flexibility, cardiovascular fitness.

● Improve at least 1of the SPORT SKILSS-related fitness components: agility, balance,
coordination, speed, power, and reaction time to become better in a specific sport).
(Such as: skill related exercises to develop specific skill such as agility, speed, or power for sprint
running)

I-Requirement for Written Submission of Fitness Routine/Workout:

● Cover:
1-Write the FULL name of ALL the members of your team and class section.
2-The name of your routine (you can name in any way as long is approve by the teacher)
3-Indicate the HEALTH-related or SPORT SKILSS-related component you will work out with this
routine (“Routine Goal”)
4- Workout Routine
5-State the specific goal that you wish to achieve by completing the routine (e.g., is to develop muscular
strength and cardiovascular fitness level to become a faster) and the the type of training method from
following options:
A. Circuit training
B. Interval training

● Section 2-Must have at least a 5-minute DYNAMIC WARM UP activity (include names or small
descriptions of movements included)
● Section 3-Main part of your workout routine. Must include at least 6 Exercises that will get the
participants to achieve the main goal of the routine. (For each exercise mention. - exercise name, small
description, small picture and for how many repetitions or time you will do it.) Exercises should be
displayed according to the method of training your team selected for this project.
● Section 4 at least 5 minutes of cool down (include names or small descriptions of movements
included)

BE CREATIVE, DO YOU OWN ORIGINAL ROUTINE, AVOID USE A SIMILAR ROUTINE DONE
BY ANOTHER TEAM or an exact copy from a routine already existing on the internet.

II-Requirements for promotion of Fitness Routine/Workout:

● Book the day of your presentation with your teacher from the options (slots) she provides you with.

● Create a promotional poster to advertise your routine across de school -includes small description of
the type of workout, organizers names, venue, date, and time (bring one at least 5 days before your
presentation so this can be posted outside your classroom door, in the school cafeteria or hallway)
II-Requirements for the presentation:
-Let your P.E. teacher know when you would like to present at least one week in advance. Remember the
due date is ________________.
-Invite 4 to 10 members of our school community (could be students, teachers, admin…)

Note: On the day of the presentation (at least 1 should be from a different class than yours)

-All the members of your team should help to lead the routine

-On the day of your presentation:


1-Expkain/Introduce your workout to the participants (mention the goal of this workout, which method of
training they can do, safety guidelines, the length, etc.)
1-Explain to the participants what dynamic warm up is and why this is better than just do stretching for
warm up.
2-Make sure you explain/demonstrate the exercises techniques and correct the participants if they are
executing the exercise in the wrong way.
3-Explain to the attendants at the beginning of the cooldown why the static stretching usually is done in this
last part of a workout session

Things to consider:

o Keep in consideration what equipment and facilities we currently have for physical
education (Don’t design something we can’t do here at school or with material that we don’t
have)
o Decide How are you going to manage the intervals, sets, reps &/or recovery? Timer app,
stopwatch, music voice indications, whistle.
o Do you want to include music? .. Of course, you can! Include songs you like but it must be
clean versions and school appropriate. (Have your teacher checking your playlist prior your
presentation)
You can use the workout routine template we used in our las P.E. projects (example bellow) to design your
own routine (but this is optional, if you prefer you can create or use any other template)
