“Sa Pula Sa Puti”

By Francisco soc Rodrigo

"Sa Pula Sa Puti" is a short film, Francisco Soc Rodrigo is the author of this short film. It is about the
couple named Kulas and Celing their life evolves in tense journey through tragedy, ambition, jealousy,
and love. ‘Sa Pula Sa Puti’ is a powerful story that asks viewers to consider the difficulties of forming
relationships with others and the negative effects of unchecked emotions.

Kulas and Celing are lovers, Kulas, a passionate fighter, loses in cockfights due to his wife Celing's
jealousy. Celing tricks him into betting on his opponent's cock to win money, but Kulas learns of her
deception and wins by betting against his own cock. They reconcile after a dinner of leftover cocks.
Kulas seeks help from Castor and performs rituals with Inting to improve his luck. Using Celing's
wedding ring as a charm, Kulas consistently wins. However, Celing discovers his secret winnings
through Teban and confronts him, resulting in a tragedy that Kulas regrets.

The theme of this film is very nice, some of the viewers can relate to this film especially that this
short film actually happened in real life; there's a lot of families out there who suffered the same thing.
Although the person who portrayed this film didn’t meet the standard of a real short film but they did
their best. As I watch the film, I felt sad for Celing because she only wanted the best for her husband,
and she felt jealous for not getting the attention she deserved. However, I also understand Kulas side.
He wants to win the cockfight because he thinks that by winning the game, he can give Celing the
best life, but his passion for winning leads him to bad decisions in life. Sometimes people can be so
greedy that it leads them to be bad people.

This short film shows us how to confront the complexities of love, jealousy, and ambition through its
gripping story and the complexity of its character portrayals. It also emphasizes the value of
communication, trust, and emotional intelligence in navigating the complexities of interpersonal
connections. Also, we should remember that not all relationships are perfect; we need to understand
the decisions of the two parties. Not all decisions are right, so you two should talk more about
whether you can improve or not. because you should always remember that repentance comes later.
