LITURGY OF ORDINATION SCRIPT

Entrance Procession
(The Entrance hymn starts to play and the Thurifer (Erish) Starts to walk while the others follow following
the 5-step interval and distance.)

(When Bishop Kyle is near the altar, Mitre is removed and the crozier is given to the server by the deacon,
at the same time the Server (Jaian) hands over the Zucchetto/Skull Cap)

Veneration of the Altar

(The Clergymen (Jarell, Kyle, Christian) kisses the Altar, Jarell proceeds to sit in a pew while the Thurifer
(Erish) approaches the Bishop, Incense is burnt, given to the deacon then the thurible is passed to the
Bishop.)

(Incensation of the Altar Table, the Crucifix, and the Altar Retablo, after the incensation the Thurifer
(Erish) approaches the Bishop to get the Thurible.)

Election of the Candidate

(After the Incensation the Mitre-bearer Approaches the deacon and gives him the Mitre while at the
same time the Bishop places the Zucchetto on the pillow.)
(The mic-bearer (Erish) approaches the Bishop sitting in front of the Altar Table, kneels and opens the
Rite of the Ordination)

Jarell: Let those to be ordained priests come forward.

Rev. Christian Isidore Atienza

(The Candidate stands up, proceeds to walk infront of the Bishop and does a Profound bow.)

Christian: Present.
Jarell: Most Reverend Father, holy mother Church asks you to ordain these, our brothers, to the
responsibility of the priesthood.
Kyle: Do you know them to be worthy?
Jarell: After inquiry among the Christian people and upon the recommendation of those responsible, I
testify that they have been found worthy.
Kyle: Relying on the help of the Lord God and our Savior Jesus Christ, we choose these, our brothers, for
the Order of the Priesthood.
Jaian: Thanks be to God

Homily

(The book-bearer exits.)

(The Candidate sits down and listens to the homily, The bishop also remains seated.)
 Promises of the Elect

(After the homily, the elect alone rise and stand before the Bishop, who questions all of them together in
these dialogue.)

(The book bearer approaches the Bishop, kneels, and opens the book containing the rite.)

Kyle: Dear son, before you enter the Order of Priesthood, you must declare before the people your
intention to undertake this office. Do you resolve, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to discharge without
fail the office of priesthood in the presbyteral rank, as worthy fellow works with the Order of Bishops in
caring for the Lord’s flock?
Christian: I do.
Kyle: Do you resolve to exercise the ministry of the word worthily and wisely, preaching the Gospel and
teaching the Catholic faith?
Christian: I do.
Kyle: Do you resolve to celebrate faithfully and reverently, in accord with the Church’s tradition, the
mysteries of Christ, especially the sacrifice of the Eucharist and the sacrament of Reconciliation, for the
glory of God and the sanctification of the Christian people?
Christian: I do.
Kyle: Do you promise respect and obedience to the Diocesan Bishop and to your legitimate superior?
Christian: I do.
Kyle: May God who has begun the good work in you bring it to fulfillment.

Litany of Supplication

(Book-bearer exits)
(The Mitre-Bearer approaches the Bishop and the Bishop gets the Zucchetto and wears it while the Mitre
is being taken off by the Deacon.)

(The Priest announces that everyone kneels)

Jarell: Let us all kneel for the Litany of the Saints

(The Elect prostates while the Bishop kneels while the litany is sung/played.)
(Book bearer approaches the Bishop (Standing)
(After the singing of the litany, the Bishop standing, with hands outstretched, sings or says)

Kyle: Hear us, we beseech you, Lord God, and pour out on these servants of yours the blessing of the
Holy Spirit and the power of priestly grace, that those whom in the sight of your mercy we offer to be
consecrated, may be surrounded by your rich and unfailing gifts. Through Christ our Lord.

(While the Vicar General says his, lines the Bishop sits down while the Mitre-bearer approaches the
bishop and the Zucchetto is taken off while the Mitre is worn by the Bishop.)

Jarell: Amen, // Let us all rise

 Laying On of Hands

(Bishop stands up while the elect rise from their prostate position and kneels before the Bishop.)

(The Bishop lays his hands upon the head of each of them, without saying anything.
After the Bishop has laid on hands, priests (Jarell) lay hands on each of the elect, without saying
anything.)

Ordination Prayer

(The Mitre-Bearer approaches the Bishop, gives the Zucchetto while the Jarell removes the Mitre and
places it in a pillow.)
(The elect remains kneeling while the Bishop says the Ordination prayer.)

Kyle: Grant, we pray, Almighty Father, to these, your servants, the dignity of the priesthood; renew deep
within them the Spirit of holiness; may they henceforth possess this office which comes from you, O
God, and is next in rank to the office of Bishop; and by the example of their manner of life, may they
instill right conduct. Together with us, may they be faithful stewards of your mysteries, so that your
people may be renewed in the waters of rebirth and nourished from your altar; so that sinners may be
reconciled and the sick raised up. May they be joined with us, Lord, in imploring your mercy for the
people entrusted to their care and for all the world.

(Book-bearer exits, Bishop sits down, The Mitre-Bearer approaches the Bishop, the Bishop places the
Zucchetto in the pillow and wears the Mitre. The Vicar General (Jarell) gives the Bishop the Linen Gremial
that he may wear it for the anointing of the hands.)

Wearing of the Chasuble and the Stole

(Music Plays “Ecce Sacerdos Magnus”, the Vicar General (Jarell) removes the stole of the newly ordained
and proceeds to properly put on to him properly and he also puts on the chasuble on the newly
ordained.)
(Music Stops)

Anointing of the Hands

(Music Plays)
(Book-bearer enters the scene, the Elect goes infront of the Bishop and kneels, Jaian enters holding the
container for the Holy Chrism)
(The Bishop anoints his hands with Holy Chrism while saying the following prayer then wraps his hands
with the manutergium.)

Kyle: The Lord Jesus Christ, whom the Father anointed with the Holy Spirit and power, guard and
preserve you, that you may sanctify the Christian people and offer sacrifice to God.

(The newly ordained stands up, goes to his mother, his mother unwraps the manutergium and wipes the
Holy Oil in the newly ordained hands and keeps the Manutergium.)

Lara: “My beloved son, If I heard you lived and died for Jesus, then I know that I fulfilled my duty to Jesus
 Handing Over of the Chalice and Paten

(Bishop washes his hands.)

(The Newly Ordained Priest returns to his position, standing infront of the Bishop.)
(The Mother (Lara), offers the Chalice and hands it over the Vicar General.)
(The Newly Ordained kneels before the Bishop while the Bishop says)

Kyle: Receive the oblation of the holy people, to be offered to God. Understand what you do, imitate
what you celebrate, and conform your life to the mystery of the Lord’s cross.

(While the Bishop is saying the prayer the Vicar General hands the chalice to the Bishop and gives it to
the Newly Ordained and the Newly Ordained gives it back to the Vicar General which prepares the Altar
Table for Consecration.)

Kyle: Peace be with you,

Christian: and with your spirit

(Book bearer exits)

(The Bishop does the Fraternal Kiss with the newly ordained, The Mitre, Staff-bearer gives the
Crozier/Staff to the Bishop after his turn for the Fraternal Kiss then The Vicar General will be next to do
the Fraternal Kiss.)
(The Bishop proceeds to go behind the Altar, walking using the crozier and when he is in his place he
gives it back to the Staff/Crozier-bearer.)
