INTERVENTION STRATEGIES FOR STUDENTS AT RISKS IN
DISTANCE LEARNING

Distance learning has been a struggle for some learners especially those who have
difficulty in coping lessons and learners in need of special attention who possess a
disorder such as ADHD and dyslexia. This shows how essential it is for teachers to
be knowledgeable in creating effective intervention and strategies to address the
learner’s necessity. Parents are also considering and hoping that the interaction
between students and the teacher can still ensure quality learning.
In this video I learned how significant to learners the positive parent-teacher
relationship. It helps learners improve their academic achievement and social well-
being. The fact that teachers have become one of the most significant adults for
them as they spend more time with us, depending on their decision, guidance and
directions is a great advantage to help them effectively cope with the lessons in time
regardless of distance.
All in all, giving learners positive feedback and criticism, collaborative and fun-
engaging learning activities and instructional materials are a handful for us teachers
to be effective in the field. Differences in coping mechanisms of learners can also be
addressed in a manner of different interventions and strategies. Regardless of
distance and location, there is an assurance that learners will receive the same
quality education if we, teachers, are fully equipped with the knowledge and skills
needed for this challenge.

AN APPROACH TO SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT IN SCHOOLS

In this video, I learned that the development of spiritual aspects in education is said
to be the most important key in life for us to succeed. It encompasses all round
development of a person which embodies both the physical, emotional, mental and
social aspects of life. However, it is one of the most neglected areas.
Making it an integral part of our educational system will surely help students and
teachers achieve holistic education. Through giving importance to spiritual
development those learners are able to develop meaning and purpose in life given
that spirituality has the capacity to shape the understanding and world view of a
person.
For our education to become inclusive of spirituality, we educators must take
responsibility and challenge both ourselves and our teaching practice to confront
ideologies and systems that hinder genuine individual expression. It could also help
if we, teachers, open ourselves up to the possibility of creating meaningful
relationships with our students which is rooted in honesty and compassion, and
these can be achieved when we acknowledge the spirituality of those students.

1. APPLYING SUBJECT INTEGRATION IN LESSON PLANNING
2. MAXIMIZING PRODUCTIVITY IN THIS DIGITAL AGE

In this video I learned how important the integration of different disciplines is in

lesson planning. It allows students to have a deeper understanding of the course
subject matter and how to apply the materials and lessons that they have learned in
the classroom in a real-world situation This ultimately helps prepare them for their
future studies, career and life in general.
Also, it is crucial to take attention to details in planning the integration in each lesson.
The congruence of discipline in the subject matter is also important to take note of as
well as making sure that the lesson follows SMART technique. I learned that it is vital
to create content and learning activities that are more engaging between the student
and teacher too.
I am happy to learn the POMODORO Technique; I will exercise myself doing it from
now on. I am also reminded in this video to focus, Follow One Course Until Success.
Though I love to multitask things out, it is indeed important to focus our attention on
one task at a time.

RESEARCH IMPORTANT TOOL IN EDUCATION BY SIR NELSON
AGOYAOY

I learned that research skill is important to hone and possess as an educator. It is

also important to be keen to details and strategies in acquiring information by using
references and effective tools in gathering data. In conducting research, we need to
be mindful in safeguarding the life of our respondent who gives trust to us and their
privacy.
To be a researcher, it is vital to hold on to your principles and integrity. Most research
nowadays was done for completion of requirements; however, I learned that to be a
good and productive researcher we must love to discover new information and
should be driven by passion to create and realize the solution we seek to achieve.
Another learning I gained is the ethics the researcher must possess. It is significant
to follow ethical principles in order to keep the dignity, rights and welfare of our
research participants. It is indeed accurate that engaging with research is key to a
teacher's ongoing development as a curious and effective educator.

SCHOOL DISASTER PREPAREDNESS BY SIR NELSON G.
AGOYAOY

Disaster preparedness consists of a set of measures undertaken in advance by

individuals to better respond and cope with the immediate aftermath of a disaster,
whether it be human-induced or caused by natural hazards. Preparing for disasters,
especially teachers at schools, saves vulnerable children, speeds up recovery and
saves money too by preventing and reducing the impacts of disasters in school and
communities.
It will also protect students and the staff from physical harm, minimize disruption and
ensure the continuity of education for all children. Thus, it is very important that we
teachers are equipped with necessary skills and knowledge to handle either man-
made or natural disaster possible.
Being fully prepared for future disasters and equipped with skills and knowledge,
teachers can and will also provide support and opportunities for young people to take
responsibility in emergency situations by orienting and sharing with them what we’ve
learned to cope up with unexpected circumstances. At the end of the day, we don’t
know yet when we could use the skills but as the saying goes that no one can beat
the prepared individual.

IMPORTANT QUALITIES THAT EVERY STEMSTEAM TEACHER
SHOULD HAVE

In this video, I learned that each teacher should be flexible in all learning styles. We
should make ways to address the varied learning styles of each of our learners. It is
also best to practice the ability to encourage students to use different skills to solve
problems and collaboration.
I like to note what was being said in this video that a teacher should be a guide and a
mentor, not necessarily a friend. We should learn to filter what question we will
entertain from our learners and should be firm on establishing our rules and
deadlines. This is to enforce value and respect to them which I found a must for us
teachers to have one of such qualities.
I would also agree with the speaker that developing ourselves to be a competent and
an effective teacher takes time. It needs more practice and time because a great
teacher doesn’t evolve overnight.
I would like to state and be reminded that we teachers should be students ourselves
and enjoy what we are learning.

HOW TO BECOME STEM OR STEAM TEACHER

In this video, I learned the techniques/tips for me to be effective in this field. First is
focus, it is necessary to select what question we will ask the learners or problem for
them to solve. Second is details, we need to look for a factor or elements that are
contributing to the problem or to the question that exists. Next is discovery and
application where we will hone the skills of the learners. It is also important to give
them feedback after the presentation and lastly, to link those in a real-life situation.
There are also a lot of ways to integrate literacy and STEAM in our classroom. I find
it best to use visual thinking because it is easy to organize, remember and recall the
information, lesson or topics we tend to deliver. Using the correct and engaging
visuals to attract their attention and focus, we could enforce quality learning in the
classroom.
I like to exercise the Reciprocal teaching strategy too because I find it effective if
they assume different roles in the room. They will learn to track their comprehension
and thoughts on the process. In order to successfully implement this strategy, we
teachers should know and master the 4 steps/strategies which are summarizing,
questioning, predicting and clarifying.

BASIC ACCOUNTING
I learned terms which include revenues, expenses, assets, liabilities, income
statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows. I become familiar with
accounting debits and credits as well as how to record transactions. The speaker
also greatly helped me on learning this basic accounting and showed me how it
works with a lot of examples.
I learned how to read and analyze financial statements. I also learned budgeting my
money. I gained a much deeper understanding of what goes on with my own funds
and learned important skills like how to effectively track expenses and work within a
budget.
As a teacher, I could use this information to share with my students so that they will
also be aware of how to manage their future income and current budget. This skill
will surely help me to manage my budget and/or income effectively in future. All in
all, I am thankful that I watch this topic and will possibly recommend it to everyone.

UNDERSTANDING THE BASICS OF PHOTOJOURNALISM
BY: SIR JEFFREY G. DELFIN

Learning photojournalism is vital especially in this generation. We love to capture

every moment in our lives regardless of angle and situation. This is a usual scenario
today but after hearing the speaker I am grateful that I could enhance and apply it to
myself making my social media more engaging and useful.
After watching this video, I learned that the content of the photo must answer the 5
w's and how. It Should be credible and realistic. It is also important to make a caption
that is related behind that picture to establish connection between and among the
subject. It must also start with the verb if it is written in the Filipino and noun if it is in
English. We should also pay attention to what is being photographed and how it
plays with the other subject.
I also learned a lot of techniques in this video: the line, curve, vertical, horizontal and
zigzag but I love the framing and leading lines. By watching this photojournalism
content, I came to appreciate the form both creatively and as a means of news and
human-interest story telling.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF PARENTS IN SCHOOL AND
COMMUNITY TEACHER PARENT RELATIONSHIP

Parents are the first to teach children at home and so is the molding of character.
When communicating with parents, we teacher should consider our remarks in
relation to issue/topic that influence how parents participate with us. It could be
the classroom learning activities, child’s accomplishments, and / or how the
parents can help at home with their child’s learning.
There are other advantages for children when parents become involved —
namely, increased motivation for learning, improved behavior, more regular
attendance, and a more positive attitude about homework and school in
general.
Also, by having more contact with parents, we teachers will learn more about
our students’ needs and home environment, which is information we can apply
toward better meeting their needs. Indeed, the collaboration between school
and home is key to a child's success.

21ST CENTURY SKILLS AND ICT INTEGRATION IN INSTRUCTION
AND ASSESSMENT

Nowadays ICT facilitates not only the delivery of lessons but also the learning
process itself. Using different apps to enhance the learning delivery is essential in
this era which is accessible online. Using gamification at the classroom also gives
fun and engaging presentations to our students.
Integrating the technology in our daily activities allows us teachers to deepen our
learning delivery. Also, using the ICT-integrated assessment gives our students rapid
feedback. In that way when children receive quick feedback, they can quickly repair
their mistakes and go forward.
By integrating technology into education, students will surely acquire digital literacy
skills, including information literacy, media literacy, and critical thinking. It is indeed
best to distinguish ICT as catalysts for change as it be in handling and exchanging
information, teaching strategies, teaching methods, learning approaches, scientific
research, and in accessing information, it carries all.

EFFECTIVE LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR STUDENTS IN THE NEW
NORMAL

In this video I learned the fact that today’s generation of students are more
dependent on gadgets and technology. Some have developed traits who want things
and /or their outcomes will automatically be done to them. Some developed difficulty
in coping with things and that put us teachers in a very daunting task that we have to
repeat things. This required us to be more passionate and patient all throughout.
The students in the new normal generation of teaching were prone to mental
distress. They need to be guided. I learned some ways to help them on this video as
it states to give them rules and directions helping them to choose media wisely.
They should teach about online privacy and safety. If possible, they should limit
phone use especially during mealtime and bedtime emphasizing the big 3- Sleep,
Nutrition and Exercise.
While students have problems in detaching to technology, as teachers we should be
more equipped and creative in delivering and disciplining our students. We should
make them engage in the class without those gadgets. This will also help them
realize that learning experience in the classroom and person to person is much more
enjoyable and effective and productive.

HOW TO BECOME EFFECTIVE EDUCATOR SERIES 1

Being a teacher, we are accountable to have our students have proper learning. We
need to prepare, study well and master every lesson they need to learn and as what
we swear to do. Having a sense of accountability will give us fuel that whatever
happens we must be ready and face all the outcomes of what we are doing in terms
of delivering knowledge to our learners.
In this video, I learned how important transparency is. The more we teachers
communicate with parents and students; we’ll have that mutual understanding that
will help each side understand the challenges that arise. Also, the sense of empathy,
we teachers should have that sensitivity to our learners and the ability to understand
so we could share on their feelings because we do not know what they went through
before reaching the classroom.
I learned that to be a great teacher we should have that passion for learning and the
heart to love every student that enters our classroom. I am certain that if a teacher
possesses and develops such values; accountability, transparency, empathy and
love, we will become more better and effective educators.

DEVELOPING ASSESSMENT TOOLS FOR DECODING SKILLS OF
YOUNG LEARNERS

Teachers should be given more training to become fully accustomed and

knowledgeable in the specific learnings. A knowledgeable and skilled teacher is
much more effective in the field of nurturing than anyone else in decoding the skills
of our young learners. We teachers should also understand and apply the research
information.
In this video, I found a lot of statements and assumptions that I perceived before
believing it was a fact but a myth only. I learned that decoding is important because it
is the foundation on which all other reading instruction builds. If students cannot
decode words their reading will lack fluency, their vocabulary will be limited and their
reading comprehension will suffer.
We need to teach our students first to recognize the language. It is essential to our
learners that they learn and master this 4- interpreting, reasoning, thinking and
imagining. Literacy development should be for both teacher and learner, as this is
crucial in a child's life too. Therefore, we teachers should fully understand the
importance of literacy to be effective in decoding the young learners.

COACHING ON TEACHERS’ REFLECTION FORM

I have no knowledge about this reflection form and what is it all about even the
content of it but I heard it a lot from a colleague. After watching the video, I realize
the importance of it especially as a future applicant in DepEd.

Teacher reflection helps me move from just experiencing a lesson, to understanding

what happened and why. Taking the time to reflect on and analyses my teaching
practice helps me to identify more than just what worked and what didn't. I have to
take time reading and discovering memorandums and updates to support my
reflection and to include some anecdote to strengthen it.
Having no experience in the field of teaching and not a degree holder specifically
aligned for this, I have struggle in coping those teaching related task. I am grateful to
found this very informative video that could help me ace my application in future.

VIDEO NO. 16
COACHING ON COMMUNICATION SKILLS

In this video I learned a lot, it made me realize that teachers should be good at
communicating effectively. We should be clear and concise when teaching a lesson,
using concise and clear language, valuing empathy and active engagement with our
students. It is vital to hone our communication skills as teachers. We should be well
versed in speaking, writing, listening and comprehension to be effective in delivering
ourselves to our learners.
Communication is also important in terms of teamwork as we are always into
collaborating with other teachers in terms of lesson plan, grade sheet, paper works
and in providing feedback to our students. Communication skills play a big role in our
classroom management also. It is because this classroom management should be
communicated clearly especially in establishing rules and in helping them in their
progress by giving constructive feedback.
Also, EPT is not easy and needs a lot of preparation as well as the TRF. As a
teacher-applicant this video is very timely and helpful to me. I am now aware of what
to prepare, what to study and how to answer the TRF with impact. All in all, it takes
a lot of preparation, time and a lot of courage and determination to be what we
wanted to become.

COACHING ON DEMONSTRATION TEACHING

For this last video, I learned the importance of preparedness and all. Demonstration
teaching is one of the most important recipes in entering DepEd garnering 35%. I
learned the 5 classroom observable indicators which really helped me who has not
yet fully acquainted in the field of teaching.
In demonstration, I learned that these 3 observers are the strategist, specialist who
deals with content and a representative. I am grateful that I am able to watch this
video ahead and am now aware of the flow during this time period. Learning the
different Indicators is the best part for me in this video since I am a beginner in the
field. I am able to understand the terms, the differences and the usage of such.
I realized that teaching isn't an easy job. It requires our full dedication, love and
compassion for the profession and the learners. Dedicated in a sense that we,
teachers should have the ability to inspire students through approaches, actions, and
even through the lessons and activities that students were engaged in. "Teachers
cannot teach what they do not know". And in teaching, things that should be taught
must be good, true and correct.
Thank you very much for all the effort and passion to support us. You helped me a lot
in my preparation as teacher-applicant and conditioned my mindset and myself
through these videos.
Indeed,” Becoming a teacher does not end with knowing how to do it”.
