Introduction

Attendance tracking is essential for monitoring student presence and engagement, but
traditional systems have limitations. While traditional attendance methods are generally
reliable, factors like manual errors, data loss, and interruptions in data delivery by the
secretary can introduce inconsistencies in the system. By intending to implement this new
type, we could possibly improve the way of tracking attendance and also find some
problems and data and which would be gathered for the foundation of this research and its
prototype and also for the future researchers.
Introduction

A research by Johnson et al. (2018) where he had found a significant correlation between student
attendance and academic performance in high school students. The study highlighted the importance of
accurate attendance tracking in identifying at-risk students and implementing targeted interventions to
improve educational outcomes. Additionally, the study of Smith and Brown (2019) compared the efficiency
and accuracy of manual versus automated attendance tracking systems in higher education institutions. The
findings demonstrated that automated systems reduced errors, improved data reliability, and enhanced
administrative efficiency, supporting the need for technological advancements in attendance monitoring.
The study of Lee et al. (2021) analyzed attendance trends over multiple academic years to identify patterns
and predictors of student absenteeism in a K-12 educational setting. The study underscored the importance
of longitudinal data analysis in understanding the factors influencing student attendance behavior,
informing targeted interventions, and promoting a culture of regular attendance in schools.

Theoretical Framework
The theoretical framework of this study draws on established theoretical perspectives to
explore the relationships between key variables and their impact on enhancing classroom
efficiency.

The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM):

The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), introduced by Davis in 1989, focuses on users'
acceptance of technology based on perceived usefulness and ease of use. This model
underscores the significance of these factors in influencing user behavior and adoption of
technology. By emphasizing the importance of perceived usefulness and ease of use, TAM
provides valuable insights into user acceptance of technology and their decision-making
processes.
Theoretical Framework
Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT)

The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) is a comprehensive framework that
integrates various technology acceptance models to explain user intentions and behavior in adopting
information systems. UTAUT considers factors such as performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social
influence, and facilitating conditions in predicting technology use. By incorporating these elements, UTAUT
offers a holistic understanding of user acceptance and utilization of technology in diverse settings.

By drawing on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of
Technology (UTAUT), this theoretical framework provides a robust foundation for exploring the relationships
between key variables and their collective impact on improving classroom efficiency. The integration of TAM
and UTAUT enhances the understanding of user acceptance and adoption of technology, paving the way for
more effective strategies in educational settings.

A paper based on the study and the implementation of the pilot project for a customized, automated, highly secured
class room management system known as a fully automated classroom attendance system. In this research paper, the
strategies, design, development and implementation of a pilot project for class room attendance management systems is
explained in detail. As a pilot project, a mobile app is built on an Android platform using Xamarin programming.
Prototype of the proposed system provides a high level of authentication by embedding face recognition and biometric
verification together with a radio frequency identification system (RFID) system. Though given model features are
specially designed for our college needs, this model can be modified for general usage and can be applied for all
academic levels i.e. school, college, universities. Among the other features of the system, one important feature is
selection of the system to work in smart mode in which the system closes after predefined time. (Eid Al Hajri, Farrukh
Hafeez and Ameer Azhar NV, 2019).

A attendance monitoring system, including: an attendance module for generating daily records of students, the daily
records identifying the time when the students enter the school premises and leave the campus for dismissal time; A
database module in communication with the attendance module for generating student attendance record and data to
aid in the management and regulation of the human resource personnel concerned. A means for creating and
maintaining student's identification and personal records; A means for generating daily records of students, the daily
records identifying the time when the students enter the school premises and leave the campus for dismissal time; and a
means for generating students' attendance information to aid in management of resources from the students'
identification and personal records and the daily time records (Jones and Rickenbacker, 2018).

a study of Agrawal and Bansal “Solis Gatekeeper is a tool that provides the easiest way to assist the human resource
personnel concerned in attendance monitoring for this time-consuming process. The most common means of tracking
students' attendance in school is by enforcing the students to manually sign the attendance sheet, which is normally a
burden for students, class secretaries and also for other school personnel in charge. For instance, when students forget
their Identification cards, they manually sign the attendance sheet provided upon entering the school by the security
personnel in charge, also the class secretaries and class advisers took down notes in the attendance sheets provided by
the Prefect of Discipline. This instance is burdensome and most likely needs more effort and time. In terms of attendance
analysis and validity, the human resource personnel concerned also has to perform manual computation to obtain the
students’ attendance percentage, which normally consumes a lot of time.”, (Agrawal and Bansal, 2018).

A study of Tamilkodi “Barcode system can be a powerful tool in helping to manage students’ attendance throughout the
working school day and also enhance classroom security and validity of attendance records. Barcode system has been
applied to solve problems where it is necessary to track the students' attendance record, upon entering the campus or
the students' time in and upon leaving the school premises during dismissal time. Barcode system is used in regulating,
monitoring, and storing personal data automatically and saving it on the schools' database records.Barcode systems
have been widely used in many different application areas, such as: product tracking through manufacturing and
assembly, control of inventory, parking lot access and control, container tracking, ID badges and access control,
equipment tracking in hospitals, etc. A Barcode system primarily comprises a barcode, a barcode scanner, and a backend
database. Barcode Tags contain a very limited amount of data. It is typically just an identifier on a database of that
particular product. In the case of UPC codes there is a standardized database so your code is assigned to you for each
product. In 2D and larger barcodes you can pretty much put in whatever information you like.Barcode system is a
technology that is used to collect.” (Tamilkodi, 2021)

A study of Chiagozie and Nwaji “Barcode technology is commonly used to implement attendance systems due to its
efficient individual tracking capabilities. In a barcode-based attendance system, each individual is provided with a badge
or card that contains an integrated barcode. By swiping the badge or card on a barcode scanner device integrated with a
configurable time clock, individuals can easily check in or out of the organization. The system administrator has the
ability to update and maintain all the attendance data captured by the device's internal storage.” (Chiagozie and Nwaji
,2012).

A study of Noguchi “a mobile-based attendance system was developed on the Android platform. This system enabled
students to use their mobile devices or the teacher's terminal device to register their attendance. To prevent cheating
during registration, a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacon was utilized to transmit a unique identifier called a "magic
number." By leveraging the BLE beacon technology, this system provided a secure and reliable method for attendance
registration, ensuring the integrity of the attendance data. The use of mobile devices enhanced convenience for students,
while the BLE beacon added an extra layer of security to prevent fraudulent attendance records.” (Noguchi et al. 2018)

The authors proposed a fingerprinting biometric attendance system in a classroom environment. The system deployed is
based on access control system and classroom AMS, and provides a scalable solution for identification and
authentication. It likewise generates an online report on a website. Amongst the advantages of the presented
attendance system is better security, reliability and accuracy. Mittal et al. (2015)
