LESSON PLAN IN CHEMISTRY
I. OBJECTIVES
During and after the 1-hour session, at least 85% of the pupils will;
a. Identify the three phases of matter.
b. Apply the knowledge about phases of matter in their group activities. c.
Appreciating the different objects around us.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
a. Topic: Phases of matter.
b. Skills: Observing, identifying.
Science concepts: Matter is anything that occupies space and has mass, Matter
has three states/phases: Solid, liquid, and gas.
d. Instructional materials: pictures, visual aids on cartolina paper.
e. Reference: Education.com
III. PROCEDURE
A. Daily Routine
1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Classroom inspection
4. Checking of attendance
B. Review the past lesson
(Asking the students what the lesson is they've discussed last meeting)
C. Motivation
(the teacher will ask the students what are the names of each picture)
"Do you have an idea what is our topic for today?"
(the teacher will sing a song about the topic for today)
"Three Phases of Matter"
Solid, Liquid, Gas, (2x)
Three Phases of Matter Solid, Liquid, Gas
A Solid keeps its shape,
Some hard, some can break,
Like a table or roll of tape,
A Solid keeps its shape.
A Liquid's shape depends
On the container that it's in
Like a cup or metal tin,
A Liquid's shape depends.
A Gas you cannot see
It's in the air we breath
Helium, Oxygen or Steam,
A Gas you cannot see.
Solid, Liquid, Gas, (2x)
Three Phases of Matter Solid, Liquid, Gas
D. DISCUSSION
Defining what is matter.
Matter - the thing that forms physical objects and occupies space.
Three phases of matter:
Solid - A solid will always look the same and take up the same amount of space. A solid
has a definite shape, mass, and volume.
(ask the students what are the examples of it)
Liquid - A liquid will always take up the same amount of space and take the shape of its
container. A liquid does not have definite shape, but have a definite mass and volume.
(ask the students what are the examples of it)
Gas - A gas does not always weigh the same or take up the same amount of space. A
gas does not definite have shape, mass, and volume.
(asked the students what are the examples of it)
IV. GENERALIZATION
(Teacher will have asked the Summary of the lesson)
V. APPLICATION
Teacher will give an activity that will be answered in 3-5 minutes.
VI. EVALUATION
Teacher will give a quiz.
Identify the following which are the solid, liquid, or gas and put it into the table.
Air Smoke Tears Hamburger Rain
Carrots Flowers Books Milk Crown
Solid Liquid Gas
VII. ASSIGNMENT
What is suspension in chemistry?
