Subject: Inspection of Carburetor Air Filter Box

Models Affected: Serial Numbers Affected:

PA-28- 151 Cherokee Warrior.. . . . . . . . . . . 28-7415001 to 28-77 15278 Inclusive.

Compliance Time: Within the next ten ( 10) hours of operation.

Purpose : Reports from the field indicate that there may be carburetor air filter boxes in-
stalled in the above referenced aircraft without a drain hole in the aft bottom corner of the
filter box. Without this drain hole, water could accumulate and under certain ambient
conditions, may freeze and possibly restrict the air flow to the engine.

This Service Release provides instructions for an inspection of the air filter box and furnishes
instructions to drill the hole if this hole is missing.

Instructions:

1. Open the engine cowl on the top right hand side.

2. Open the top of the carburetor air filter box and check for a small hole in the aft bottom
corner of the box.

3. If the drain hole is present, prepare the aircraft for return to service and make appropriate
log book entry that this Service Bulletin has been complied with.
NOTE:
Steps 1, 2 and 3 (above) may be accomplished by the owner/operator.

4. If the drain hole is not present, then add the hole as detailed in the attached sketch. Prepare
aircraft for return to service and make the appropriate log book entry that this Service
Bulletin has been complied with.

Material Required: None

Availability of Parts: Not Applicable

Effectivity Date: This Service Release is effective upon receipt.

Summary: Please contact your Piper Field Service Facility to make arrangements for com-
pliance with the provisions of this Service Release in accordance with Compliance Time, above.
