SAFETY ASPECTS
A. Safety Information
Toxic limits : Toxic concn. in air- 1 ppm by volume
Detetion : Detectable odour/concn. 3.5 ppm by volume. Bleach like choking odor.
Effects : It burns eyes, irritates skin, mucous membrane and affects respiratory
system.
Prolong exposure causes suffocation resulting death. Liquid Chlorine causes cool burn.
B. Handling and Safety Instructions
• Move to free area from Cl2 contaminated area.
• Stop discharge if possible.
• Stay upward and use water to spray to ‘knock down’ vapor.
• If breathing is difficult give artificial respiration.
• For skin and eyes contact, flush with plenty of water.
• Wear goggles, self contained breathing apparatus, and rubber over clothing including
gloves.
