About This eBook

Why Did I Write This?

First of all, we are in a time when relying and following our intuition or inner

guide is almost essential for not being afraid. No matter what’s shifting and

tumbling down in our lives, it’s the only thing that will give us a direction, solve

our problems, and most of all, give us peace of mind going through it.

Secondly, a lot of us have been trying random intuition methods that haven’t

given us the results that others rave about. Then, we think something’s wrong

with us or we’re tempted to call it quits on the whole idea of tapping into our

intuition or inner guidance. Before giving up entirely, we could narrow down

our efforts—to ways that don’t require us to be something we’re not.

About Your Myers-Briggs Personality Type

Even though labels and categories can be restrictive and limiting, learning about

your Meyers-Briggs personality type can actually be liberating. It can help you

understand who you are and why you think, feel, and behave the way you do—

which can free you from judging yourself for not being like others.

You can use your personality type to take full advantage of your intuition or

inner guide. It will give you another option to explore that might clear your

intuitive path even more, and at the same time, give you lots of leeway for

individual variations.

This was written for those who mostly identify as an INFP personality type, even

though there are varying degrees for most of us. Some of the advice and

The Nonconforming Dreamer

As you probably already know, INFPs are wired differently. They were born to

be intuitive people. In fact, they are one of the few personality types (INFJs being

another one of them) that naturally operate from their intuition or inner

guidance. When INFPs try to disconnect from their intuition or inner guidance,

their whole lives go out of whack.

By connecting—connecting more than ever before—with their intuition or inner

guidance, they can be who they really are.

There are probably a hundred characteristics of an INFP. Here are a few that

relate to intuition and inner guidance the most.

INFPs Tend to…

• Believe everything is connected and absolutely anything is possible.

• Move towards experiences that awaken and intensify feelings of

passion, inspiration, and deeper meaning.

• Be on a constant adventure of self-discovery.

• Love change and will do almost anything once.

• Be extremely creative and often use it to communicate inner feelings.

• Come alive when exploring.

• Be the most independent of all the personality types, cherishing

freedom and flexibility.

What is Intuition or Inner
Guidance?
Intuition or inner guidance is a general term for tapping into a higher source that

offers advice that can give you…

• A solution to any problem or difficulty you are facing.

• An answer to any question you could possibly have.

• An immediate understanding of something you didn’t have before—

a moment of clarity.

• Glimpses or snap-shots of what will happen in the future.

Other terms used to describe intuition or inner guidance are a knowing, a feeling,

an inner truth, or an inspiration. Or it could be described from the spiritual point

of view, such as God, Universe, Spirit, Source, or Divine.

Beyond the Basic Definition

Now that we are done with the basic definition of intuition or inner guidance,

let’s go deeper.

Intuition or inner guidance is a connection device.

INFPs tend to doubt themselves, and I mean a lot. As an INFP, when you are

aware of your intuition or inner guidance, it seems like you go into an automatic

Maybe it’s because you interact with people who have the other 14 personality

types that are not so naturally intuitive. Maybe it’s thinking if you follow your

intuition or inner guidance, you will lose the independence you so dearly

3 To Avoid Being Disappointed-


INFPs dream constantly, always thinking about future possibilities for about

anything.

Having the ideal relationships is one of them. In fact, INFPs are one of the few

personality types that tend to look for amazing mind-blowing relationships such

as twin flames, or at the very least, soulmates.

To avoid being disappointed there are two completely different ways to

approach dreaming.

One Way-

One way is to dream about something or a relationship to fulfill your

imagined needs. That means expecting something to bring you something

you don’t currently have or someone to do things that please you.

You think you will feel better when that happens.

Then you get disappointed if your dreams don’t play out like you thought

they would. This type of dreaming can limit you to only feeling better if

you get what you want when you want it.

An Intuitive Way-

This way of dreaming takes a lot of faith, is satisfying every step of the

way, and is unlimited. To get an idea of how unlimited this way is, think

of the best moment you’ve ever experienced, then multiply that by a

thousand, and a thousand more, and that will give you a glimpse of what

anything can be with infinite dreaming.

Here it is! This way is about letting go of trying to control what happens

and focusing on what kind of feeling you want with anything. This means

you almost forget about what anyone says or does, or about anything that

actually happens. Your focus is on dreaming about an amazing experience

full of deep connection, easiness, fun, love, appreciation, respect, kindness,

honesty, and most of all, letting everyone and everything have the

freedom to be who or what they really are.

This brings immediate satisfaction because it depends not on what

happens, but on how you want to feel, letting your intuition or inner

guidance fill in the events that will happen, and who will say and do what.

It gives everything more freedom and flexibility. And it gives you control

of something that is controllable—your feelings.

Decisions-
INFPs tend to have a hard time making decisions. The combination of the INFPs’

all or nothing attitude, their perfectionism, the need to have plenty of reflection

1 TO ELIMINATE OPTIONS-

If you can’t pinpoint the one choice that feels right, let your intuition

or inner guidance tell you what options don’t feel right and

eliminate them. At least you’ll know what isn’t the perfect choice.

Another Way to Make Decisions Easier…

2 TO BE FLEXIBLE-
Make the choice temporary and open-ended in your mind, not

limited with harsh punishments if you don’t choose the perfect

solution.

GPS

Treat it like the GPS function on your phone. If you miss a turn, your

phone doesn’t yell at you, trying to make you feel like you have

done something wrong. It just gives you another turn immediately.

Intuition or inner guidance does the same thing. No matter how

many turns you miss, there is still another way you can get to your

destination of being your true self. Only with your intuition or inner

guidance there are endless ways to get there—all leading to the

When INFPs are relying on intuition or inner guidance, there are

times things don’t need to be decided immediately.

• It’s not the right time to make a choice. Some pieces are

still missing, and you will get more information to make

the decision.

• It’s not your choice to make.

But if, as an INFP you forget to use your intuition or inner guide,

you can easily fall into procrastinating, and become afraid to make a

choice.

Signs You are Afraid to Make a Choice

When You…

1 Make the Choice Serious-


You put pressure on yourself, thinking you’re in charge and

you have to get it right or it will be devastating.

Go back to the GPS analogy in the previous section. Your

intuition or inner guide knows your ultimate destination of

being your true self with any situation and is in charge of

directing you there. You may take hundreds of turns—some

bumpier, less scenic, and longer than others—but never to the

point where your intuition or inner guidance can’t direct you

out of it to have a wonderful outcome.

Another Sign You are Afraid to Make a Choice is When You…

2 Want to Avoid Thinking About Making a


Choice-
If you find yourself making everything else a higher priority,

or feeling tight at the slightest mention of the subject, you are

probably afraid to make a choice.

You are likely afraid to make a choice if you ask yourself this

question and can fill in the backend of the sentence: “I’m

afraid if I make the wrong decision… (name something that

you think will happen).”

EXAMPLES:

“I’m afraid if I make the wrong decision … It will hurt my

children.”

“I’m afraid if I make the wrong decision … I won’t sell as

many paintings.”

3 Are Paralyzed-
INFPs tend to keep moving. So, if you aren’t moving and

exploring options for any length of time, you might be afraid

to make a choice.

To get out of being immobilized from fear, plan on making a

lot of decisions. One decision may work for only a day, then

make another, and another, and another.

5 To Break Distressful
Patterns-
As much as INFPs dislike rules and limitations, they can still find themselves

falling into predictable and painful patterns. Five of the more common painful

patterns are being obsessive, judging themselves, perfectionism, hating

negativity, and being depressed.

1 BEING OBSESSIVE -

INFPs tend to have an “all or nothing attitude.” As an INFP, when you are

interested in something, you jump in head first and hardly ever come up

for air. There is nothing wrong with that! In fact, that all-consuming

attitude and using your intuition or inner guide is what makes amazing

things happen in your life, such as deep meaningful relationships and

incredible creativity.

Numbing Yourself

But when INFPs take that same obsessive attitude to numb themselves

from feeling, or to hurt themselves or others, it turns into a painful pattern.

Your numbing device could be food, pills, alcohol, drugs, cigarettes,

caffeine, impulse buying, keeping crazy busy, texting, or hundreds of

other obsessions.

Numbing yourself from feeling is cutting off who you are! INFPs are here

on earth to feel—and connect with everything else by feeling.

As an INFP, all you have to do to get out of the painful pattern of numbing

yourself is ask your intuition or inner guidance to see the situation or

relationship differently, and relief will be on its way. Yes, it can be that

simple! Just ask, “Let me see this situation or relationship differently?”

Another Distressful Pattern for INFPs Can be…

2 JUDGING YOURSELF-

INFPs tend to be really good at not judging others, but boy, do they lay

into themselves. Sometimes, they take it even further and let it develop

into an extremely painful pattern of self-bullying.

There is no doubt about it, INFPs have been described as having a built-in

system of morals and values. It’s usually a product of being open minded,

having compassion, and showing kindness. But it’s more than that. INFPs

have a direct line with their intuition or inner guidance to the ultimate,

unconditional love. So, why do INFPs turn that against themselves?

Why do INFPs Judge Themselves?

When you let your morals and values slide into moral codes to live by, you

try to take away the control from your intuition or inner guidance and set

up rules for yourselves that you need to operate from. These moral codes

or rules try to restrict your thoughts and behaviors. See how this doesn’t

work very well?

Signs INFPs are Trying to Live by Moral Codes or

Rules…

When you as an INFPs…

• Are critical of yourself.

• Strive to be perfect.

• Take others’ opinions personally.

• Feel bad about wanting to please yourself.

• Blame yourself for problems that arise, and hold everything on your

shoulders. (That’s why you tend to take everything personally.)

• Have difficulty leaving a bad relationship.

• Are afraid to make the wrong decisions.

• Have a hard time feeling deserving and worthy of things you want.

• Have past regrets. This can trigger INFPs to set up several moral

codes or rules.

• Feel bad about procrastinating.

• Are afraid to speak your truth or talk about what concerns you.

• Judge yourself for being overemotional or overdramatic.

• Have a terrible, horrid time getting over someone from your past.

• Feel guilty about not accomplishing enough.

• Focus on what you are doing wrong or how to improve yourself.

• Think your personality type is flawed or defective in some way.

• Feel guilty and apologize often.

• Lack the willingness to forgive yourself.

• Want to right a wrong.

• Never really feel good enough.

• Have a hard time asking for or accepting help.

• Stay crazy busy trying to prove your worth.

• Constantly worry about what you did or did not do.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: INFPs can’t operate from self-imposed

restrictions and rules and come alive. You have to be who you are—

intuitive beings.

Another Distressful Pattern for INFPs Can be…

3 HAVING A HATRED OF NEGATIVITY-

INFPs can get into the painful pattern of fighting for the oppressed or

misunderstood. That means they go to the extreme. In fact, they could

easily hate what they are fighting against as much or more than the other

side hates their side.

To avoid taking it to the extreme, think of it this way--even though the

oppressed or misunderstood may seem to have been abandoned or

victims, they have GPS systems too. They are just taking turns that are

bumpier, less scenic, and longer than others.

It doesn’t mean you need to stop doing things for or being compassionate

towards the oppressed and misunderstood. It means that your impact will

be substantially greater if you try to take your own negative emotion away

and instead rely on your intuition or inner guidance to direct you.

Another Distressful Pattern for INFPs Can be…

4 RETREATING INTO DEPRESSION-

INFPs can easily find themselves experiencing extremely low lows. Part of

the reason could be that INFPs are super sensitive to the energy in the

environment and to others, even if they are not in close physical proximity.

This can be challenging for you as an INFP, especially when there is a lot

of sadness, fear, or anger around you. Add your own painful pattern of

self-bullying and it could get terribly depressing.

Here’s the definition of depression:

Feeling depressed is thinking you can’t have what you want.

For an INFP, what you usually want is freedom from conflict, to be your

authentic self, and to have deep meaningful connections.

IMPORTANT: To make the depression worse, just focus entirely on what’s

happening at the moment, and what you don’t have now. That can cause

anyone to feel extremely sorry for themselves and make them wallow in it.

To get out of the depression, stay focused on what you do want and pay

no attention at all to what’s happening now. Your intuition or inner

guidance will show you what to do, when to do it, and how to do it.

Ways INFPs Can Relax

1 By Participating in Some
Form of Creativity-
INFPs tend to be imaginative and creative people who have a passion for

exploring alternate realities and ideas. So, being creative or experiencing other’s

creativity usually affects INFPs enormously. It relaxes you and puts you in the

flow to be your true self.

Whether it’s with art, music, writing, acting, or wherever your imagination takes

you, it puts you in an intuitive state of mind. When you as an INFP, are utterly

absorbed in your present activity, your mind will be freed from the many

distractions that cause fear and worry.

Once the fear and worry dissipate, the combination of imagination and letting

your feelings surface is a form of intuition or inner guidance.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: The key to being aware of your intuition or inner

guidance is to let go of the fear.

Another Way INFPs Can Relax is…

2 By Moving-
Moving can be very relaxing for INFPs. You love physical activities that call on

the use of your body. You are so active that most of the other personality types

have a hard time keeping up with you.

Two Suggestions of Moving Activities that

Help INFPs Relax…

1 EXPLORING NATURE ALONE-

INFPs really relax in the outdoors by themselves whether it’s hiking

up a trail, riding a bike on a country road, jogging on the beach,

paddleboarding, or anything else that keeps their body moving.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Though you may enjoy the company

of others at times, as an INFP the best way for you to relax is alone. I

can’t stress this enough! Because INFPs are introverted, being with

others tends to deplete their energy. However, being alone will

replenish it.

What Moving in Nature Alone Provides INFPs…

• Plenty to discover by using your senses—what you see hear,

touch, taste, and smell.

• Freedom and Flexibility. Being independent of others doesn’t

bog you down by tending to others needs or being stuck in

small talk.

• Plenty of time to reflect and get recharged.

• The ability to stay focused in the moment by exploring new

things. It can give an INFP a breath of fresh air and temporary

relief from doubting and self-bashing.

NOTE: It’s hard for INFPs to relax at the gym or in confined areas.

You are very sensitive to energy and thrive by exploring.

relax, the key is to practice a type that gets you fully absorbed and

focused on what you are doing.

Some Things for INFPs to Remember…

• INFPs need to move. Any technique that keeps you moving

would probably be better than holding a pose for any length

of time.

• INFPs love change and exploring. So, trying out the latest

yoga methods might be very relaxing.

• INFPs tend to be very sensitive to the energy around them

which can affect their ability to relax. A crowded yoga class

in a room with some stressed or unhappy people attending

will probably be depleting. However, an outdoor yoga class

with plenty of space and fresh air would be relaxing, even if

the weather isn’t perfect.

3 With Relationships-
Because INFPs are into feeling connected, deep one-on-one relationships are a

big deal to them. But not just any relationship is relaxing for an INFP. It has to be

the “I’ll love you no matter what you say or don’t say or do or don’t do” type.

This rare type of relationship allows INFPs to feel free to share their inner

feelings without criticism. In this kind of relationship, INFPs can relax and let

themselves be who they are, which gives them room to deepen and expand the

love, adding the right amount of space and air to the flame.

Pets can often be unconditionally loving and very relaxing to spend time with.

Sometimes just sitting in silence with that special relationship is enough to let

INFPs relax and allow their intuition or inner guidance to surface.

INFPs crave intimacy at all levels. So, having meaningful sex can get INFPs away

The Best Time to Take Action When INFPs are Excited

The best time to make a move as an INFP is usually when you have

let the excitement build. It gets rid of all the self-doubt. It will also be

at the perfect time for everyone and everything involved, not just

yourself.

The key is to wait and watch the momentum build up until it has

reached its peak. The feeling will get stronger and stronger until you

won’t be able to hold it back any longer. Before jumping into action,

make sure there is no fear and that you are getting the same message

over and over. In other words, wait until it becomes an absolute

certainty.

At the peak, the feeling will be so solid and undeniable, it will be

hard to concentrate on anything else—and essentially, it will make it

impossible not to make a move. Finally, it will get so unbearable,

you just CANNOT wait a minute longer! That’s the perfect time!

IMPORTANT TO KNOW: You can’t make a mistake! Even if you

DO something before the time is perfect, you will constantly get

About Dreading Something
If you can’t make yourself take action, that means you are being

guided NOT to do so. And the more you can’t convince yourself to

do something, the stronger you are being guided NOT to do it,

especially if you don’t know why.

Not knowing why means you can’t come up with a logical reason

why you can’t make yourself take action, other than it just feels

wrong.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW: If you don’t take action when it’s time,

the signs will almost always keep getting more frequent and intense

until you do take action. Your intuition or inner guidance won’t

3 Focusing on How it Feels


INFPs tend to enjoy feeling. You like being emotionally moved so much that you

usually dislike hurrying through emotions, even the more unpleasant ones.

Let’s explore this more! I cannot emphasis this enough—INFPs are extremely

good at feeling! But most have a tendency to not know what to do with the

feelings except to experience them.

That’s where honing your ability to use your intuition or inner guidance comes

in. When you feel these feelings don’t judge them—meaning that you, or

someone else did or is doing something wrong. It’s the judgment that blocks the

hidden meaning behind the emotion.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW: Intuition or inner guidance doesn’t make anyone

wrong. The insights will not blame, criticize, or punish anyone or anything, ever.

Try to be neutral as you feel it. Think of the feeling as emotional energy brought

about by thoughts—and that you have the uncanny knack of being aware of it.

There is a reason you are so good at feeling emotional energy, whether it’s with

yourself, other individuals, groups, or the collective mindset.

It’s to learn to understand the feelings and transform the unpleasant

If you are not already aware of this next statement, it will help you understand

why you have the incredible ability to sense even the slightest feelings, emotions,

Now, let’s say you do judge a feeling as wrong. You will automatically

Yes, because we are all connected. You can’t judge others and not think it

applies to you too.

Judging someone or anything is connecting you to

a moral code or rule.

When You Choose Intuition or Inner Guidance

Once you stop judging, you can sense the emotional energy clearly, and

your intuition or inner guidance opens the flood gates. Since everything is

connected and there are no private feelings, not only will you benefit by

your intuition or inner guidance, but everyone else involved will too. No

one will lose. Conflict will resolve. Love will increase. Connections will

4 A Knowing-
An INFP is one of the personality types that can often experience “a knowing.”

“A knowing” is usually regarded as the top of the heap of ways to receive your

intuition or inner guidance. Many say it is a sign you have intuitively arrived.

What is “a Knowing?”

When you experience “a knowing,” it is inevitable, and absolutely for sure.

It’s knowledge that you no longer need to see evidence to be certain.

Getting relaxed and in a neutral frame of mind allows your intuition or

inner guidance to reveal this knowledge to you.

“A KNOWING” …

• Is impossible to doubt, as it’s undeniable.

• Is a feeling or thought that is quiet, subtle, simple, and firm.

Whereas, if the feeling or thought comes from your ego, it is often

judgmental, complex, and brings up some doubt in you.

• Requires no interpretation.

• Eliminates all your fear about the subject.

To do automatic writing, either gather a pen and a notebook or use your

computer. Now, write about the subject you want “a knowing” from or

whatever comes to mind.

At first most of your writing may not make sense at all—it might be just a

bunch of words. Or it may not relate to the subject at all.

If you have some bottled-up negative thoughts and emotions, this is a

good way to release them. The key is no matter how long you spend

purging your negative thoughts and feelings, not to be self-critical or

judgmental. This too shall pass! Eventually you won’t have anything

negative to write.

Another Way INFPs Can Be More Aware of “a Knowing” is to…

2 MEDITATE-

There are hundreds of ways to meditate, but here’s a simple way to get “a

knowing” answer.

Once you get relaxed, ask, “What do you want me to know

about…(describe the subject)?” Or you can ask your intuition or inner

guidance a yes or no question about the subject. Pay attention and

EXPECT an answer. You may need to let your imagination explore several

options until one stands out.

IMPORTANT: I can’t stress enough how important it is to EXPECT an

answer. It’s like confirming you’re finally ready to receive knowledge from

a higher source. It may also help to make a commitment to stay with it

until you do get an answer, no matter how long it takes.

A VARIATION: You can also imagine your crown chakra (the chakra at

the top of your head) opening up to receive this knowing guidance.

Coming From?”
EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: INFPs are soooo sensitive the answer

to that question is almost always someone or something else.

person, a group, or the collective mindset. They could also be

coming from a location, such as a house, a neighborhood, or city. Or

even items. They could be coming from anything, even people who

have passed on.

not you. Maybe the thoughts come in a slang or jargon you don’t

4 FEEL THE ENERGY-


Once you get to neutral and know those thoughts, feelings, and emotions

are not yours and are not wrong, move into the energy of the situation or

relationship.

Situations

If the energy is coming from a situation, pay attention to how you really

feel about it. Do you get a cold and resistant feeling? Or is it an exciting

and inviting feeling? Are you confused or are you certain? Are you getting

a vision of the situation along with the feeling? Whatever you feel about

the situation is almost always coming from your intuition or inner

guidance.

An Example of Picking Up on Thoughts and


Feelings…
You have been happy at work for several years, but things aren’t

like they used to be. You aren’t excited to dig into the latest project.

They have hired new employees. You’ve even had a couple of

disagreements with co-workers. You decided to say something to

your boss about it but just can’t get yourself to do it.

Take time and pay attention to the energy. If you focus on how you

are feeling about your workplace, you may become aware that for

months, if not years, you felt things just weren’t right, like you were

going in different directions, and it was not because of anything

anyone said or did. You may notice the energy feels worse when

you walk in the door every day and feels better when you leave. At

some level your boss feels the same way, but may not be ready to

admit it to you yet. The energy could be telling you that you may

shortly be laid off if you don’t quit first.

Relationships

If the energy is coming from a person, focus on how you feel about

the other person. When you think about this person, do you get a

cold and a shut-off feeling? Or a warm and inviting feeling? Are you

angry or afraid? Or do you feel love, excitement, or all warm and

fuzzy? Whatever you feel about them is what that person feels

about you at some level. It’s that simple.

For instance, if someone writes or says, “I love you,” ask yourself

“Do I love them?” If the answer is NO, then they probably have an

alternative motive, or they are not aware of their own true feelings.

What’s really important is how you feel about them.

Sometimes, instead of paying attention to your own feelings, you

might want to give the other person the benefit of the doubt. Don’t!

If it’s authentic, you both feel it.

Now, Don’t Take It Personal

If the energy feels unpleasant or negative and is directed towards

you, don’t take it personal. Even though it may seem personal, it’s

not about who you are, what you did or didn’t do, or what you said

or didn’t say at all. It’s not about you!

People lash out when they are judging. Period.

Your job is to ask your intuition or inner guidance to transform that

energy into something pleasant and loving so both you and the

other person can feel better. If you would rather take it personal, you

are trying to join with them in judging yourself.

IMPORTANT: We are all intertwined, and the underlying meaning

is to learn to unconditionally love others and yourself.

Here’s an Example of Picking Up Others’ Inner
Thoughts and Feelings…
Your partner sent you a long email breaking up with you. They

went into details explaining how difficult the relationship was,

exactly what you were doing wrong, and how it was affecting them.

If you are taking the email only at face value, you would probably

read it over and over, magnifying what is wrong with your

relationship until you feel horrible and depressed. How could they?

The thought of not being with your partner in the future devastates

you.

Instead of taking the email at face value, pay attention to the energy

and your own feelings. Ask yourself, do YOU want to break up with

them? Are YOU still thinking about your partner lovingly? If so,

that’s what they are thinking about you, even though it appears they

are trying to sabotage the relationship. But, if you feel the same as

they do, it’s time to go in different directions—no big deal.

VERY IMPORTANT: Focusing on how you feel takes the sting out

of anything that anyone says or does.

Not all imagining comes from your intuition or inner guidance. You’ll

know the difference if there is fear or worry that comes with it. When you

connect with a higher source you are in a state of relaxation, and there is

less heaviness or seriousness attached.

Your imagination could come in the form of thoughts, visions, images,

symbols, hearing a voice, or just about any other way.

7 Dreams-
INFPs can also receive intuition or inner guidance by paying attention to

their sleeping dreams. When you are relaxed, there is a low resistance to

receiving insights. Many get the clearest insights in the early morning,

when they are the most rested and relaxed.

Dreams can help you cope mentally with your waking situations, foretell

future events, answer your problems, or put the pieces together to see the

bigger picture.

2 Is a matter-of-fact. The insight in itself is straightforward and not

dramatic at all.

3 Keeps gently reminding you. The insight will not change, and it will

keep repeating over and over—sometimes for years. Remember the GPS—

the turns may be different, but the destination is always the same.

4 Often surprises you. Insights aren’t very logical, they don’t even

answer the problem you thought needed to be solved, or they tell you

something you didn’t want to hear. You may not like it, but it will always

feel right.
