Statement Purpose:
Objective of this lab is to create a virtual machine on VirtualBox using Ubuntu Desktop 20.04
iso Image. After installation, a complete overview and navigation of the GNOME Graphical
User Interface (GUI) of Ubuntu Desktop 20.04.

Activity Outcomes:
Students will be able to
● create a virtual machine using iso images.
● Install Ubuntu Desktop
● use Ubuntu Desktop GUI

Instructor Note:
Ubuntu Desktop 20.04 iso images that were downloaded in lab # 1 should be available in all the
lab computers.

Introduction:
Virtualization is a complete Operating System (OS) working as a separate machine on the same
hardware as the physical one using all the computing resources of the physical machine,
including memory, storage and processing unit. In this lab, a new virtual machine will be created
using a Ubuntu Desktop iso image. These virtual machines will be used as a base for all the
Linux related labs.

Task 1: Create virtual machines in VirtualBox with Ubuntu 20.04 installation on PC/Laptop
with different configurations during the installation process memory sizes, virtual hard disk
options.

Assignments:
Attach screenshots of the complete process of Ubuntu installation in a virtual machine and
internet browsing on Mozilla Firefox in ubuntu.
