VITZ DTC CODE EXPLANATION FROM INTERNET 04 AUG 2023-ERIC
What are the Possible Causes of the DTC B0101?
NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential
problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
• Faulty Driver-Side Electronic Frontal Sensor (EFS)
• Driver-Side Electronic Frontal Sensor (EFS) harness is open or
shorted
• Driver-Side Electronic Frontal Sensor (EFS) circuit poor
electrical connection
• Faulty Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM)
How to Fix the DTC B0101?
Check the 'Possible Causes' listed above. Visually inspect the related
wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and
look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.
What is the Cost to Diagnose the Code B0101?
Labor: 1.0
The cost to diagnose the B0101 code is 1.0 hour of labor. The
diagnosis time and labor rates at auto repair shops vary depending on
the location, make and model of the vehicle, and even the engine type.
Most auto repair shops charge between $75 and $150 per hour.
What are Code B0101 Possible Symptoms?
• Air Bag Warning Light ON
What Does the B0101 Code Mean?
Electronic Frontal Sensor (EFS), also known as a front end sensor,
uses a unidirectional 2-wire circuit. EFS sensor modulates current on
the interface to send identification, State Of Health (SOH) and
deployment commands to Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM).
The SDM serves as a power source and ground for EFS. When
ignition is turned on and EFS detects power from SDM, EFS responds
by performing internal diagnostics and sending identification to SDM.

SDM considers identification message to be valid if received within 5
seconds of EFS powering up. EFS continually communicates a status
message to SDM. When fault is detected, SDM will attempt to reset
EFS twice by removing and applying power. If fault is still present,
SDM will set a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC).
Precautions for SRS “AIR BAG” and “SEAT BELT PRE-
TENSIONER” Service
• Never probe the electrical connectors on air bag, side air curtain
modules or seat belts.
• Never disassemble or tamper with safety belt buckle/retractor
pretensioners, adaptive load limiting retractors, safety belt
inflators, or probe the electrical connectors.
• Do not use electrical test equipment to check SRS circuits unless
instructed to in this Service Manual.
• Before servicing the SRS, turn ignition switch OFF, disconnect
both battery cables and wait at least 3 minutes. For
approximately 3 minutes after the cables are removed, it is still
possible for the air bag and seat belt pre-tensioner to deploy.
Therefore, do not work on any SRS connectors or wires until at
least 3 minutes have passed.
Failure to follow this instruction may result in the accidental
deployment of these modules, which increases the risk of serious
personal injury or death.
What does supplemental inflatable restraint mean?
SRS Airbags (or Supplemental Restraint System Airbags) are used to
offer an individual protection beyond the seatbelt in the event of a
collision. Read ahead to learn more about them and how they work.
In the event of a crash, the supplemental restraint system will tell the
airbag to go off and open.25 Mar 2014

supplemental restraint system (plural supplemental restraint systems)
(automotive) Any of several restraining systems in a vehicle, such
as an airbag, in addition to the seatbelts.

What are the Possible Causes of the DTC C0279?
NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential
problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
• Blown Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Solenoid Relay Fuse
• Faulty ABS Solenoid Relay
• ABS Solenoid Relay harness is open or shorted
• ABS Solenoid Relay circuit poor electrical connection
• ABS Actuator (Skid Control ECU)
How to Fix the DTC C0279?
Check the 'Possible Causes' listed above. Visually inspect the related
wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and
look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins.
What are Code C0279 Possible Symptoms?
• Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Warning Light ON
• Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
What Does the C0279 Code Mean?
The solenoid relay supplies power to the Anti-Lock Brake System
(ABS) solenoid and TRAC solenoid.
After the ignition switch is turned on, the vehicle speed has reached 4
mph (6 km/h) and the solenoid is determined to be normal by the
initial check self- diagnosis, the relay switches on. If any open or
short circuits are detected, the relay switches off.
These DTCs may be set if the voltage supply to the solenoid relay
(+BS) falls below the DTC detection threshold due to the battery or
generator outputs being insufficient.
