Getting Around Malta
Discovering the Maltese islands is easy and there are numerous options open to you. The
main methods of public transport are buses, taxis and ferries.
1 The public bus service
Fares
- 1 bus ticket cost €1.50 is valid 2 hours and can be purchased from the Bus Driver on all
Busses. Is important to have small change, because sometimes the driver will not be
able to change banknotes of €20 or more.

unlimited travel in Malta and Gozo, starting from the first day and time that the card is
validated on the bus. This card you can buy it direct from the EC Front Office.
- 12 Single Day Journeys Card= €15 The card offers greater flexibility as it may be shared
by friends. It cost €15 euros and can be used for 12 travels. You can buy this card from
different shops, the nearest is “Till Late” in front of Bay Street Complex.

(waiting time to receive your talinja card is approx. 3 weeks). You can apply online, just
click here https://www.publictransport.com.mt/student and you will have more
information’s.
2. TAXI
Unlike other county, in Malta is difficult to stop a taxi in the street, because of this our
suggestion is to book your taxi in advance. We recommend E-CABS company, (you can book on
line http://ecabs.com.mt/book-a-cab-online/ ) or if is easier for you, just call at 21 38 38 38 and
check about price and book your taxi.
Malta does not have taxi meter, so If it happened just to find a taxi on the street, it's
always better to enquire and agree on a fare before you enter in the taxi.
3. Ferries
- Sliema- Valletta Ferry Service
An excellent alternative then if you want to go from Sliema to Valletta is the ferry.
The service is every day starting from 07.00 to 18.15 in winter and to 19.15 in summer.
Fares = €1.50 adult single; adult return € 2.80, and €0.50 children single and you have
the advantage to reach Valletta in 5 minutes. Here you can check prices:

- Valletta- 3 Cities Ferry Service

In case you want to save some money our suggestion is to go to a Lidl, and in this case
you will spend less money than in a normal supermarket. On web site you can check the weekly
offers, but however, here you will find a large selection (food, clothes, cosmetics, detergents, all
kind off daily needs) at cheap prices http://www.lidl.com.mt/en/index.htm
The closest Lidl is San Gwann and to go there (in case you decide to go from the EC
School) you have to go to Ross Bus Stop (close to Rivareno Gelato) and to take “Bus nr. 120
Direction Xghajra” for 10 bus stops till bus stop called BALAL. From there, in less than 5 min
you will be at Lidl. To turn back, just take the same bus but from the other side of the road.
