2. Pupils draw a table based on page 7(Student’s Book) in their notebooks. Pupils listen to the CD and
write down the correct answer for Activity 3. (CBA)
3. Using the word and punctuation cards, work with pupils to build a model sentence on the board.

4. In their notebooks, pupils write a sentence about one of the people in Activity 3.
ACTIVITIES 5. Partners read each other’s sentences to guess who it is. Encourage them to check their partner’s work
for correct punctuation (use of capitals, full stops and apostrophes).
6. Pupils rewrite their sentence based on their partner’s feedback.
7. Review and give feedback on pupils’ written work for both first and second drafts as well as the
peer’s feedback.
Post-lesson
8. Play a word and punctuation un-jumble game on the board, where you write a mixed-up sentence on
the board and pupils put the words and punctuation in the correct order to make a sentence. Play as a

Pre-lesson:-
1. Write electricity on the board and have pupils brainstorm uses of electricity in small
groups. This could be done as a game.
Lesson development:-
2. Elicit different meanings of the word power, including as a synonym for electricity.
Tell the pupils to look at the questions in Activity 1. Pupils discuss the questions.
3. Talk to the pupils about prediction skills in reading and encourage prediction based on
the pictures. (21st CA)
4. Pupils look at the text in Activity 2. Pupils analyse the text to decide on the text type.
5. Pupils read the article and find the newspaper features (Activity 3). Pupils further
analyse the text to identify different features of it. (HOTS)

6. Pupils scan the text to fikd the word in vocabilary panel (Activity 4). Pupils search for
words in the text and use context clues to guess meaning.
7. Pupils read the article on page 9 again. Pupils answer questions. (CBA)
8. Ask pupils to re-read the text to find something interesting and tell their partner.

the new language.
3. Pupils relate the new language to their own lives.
4. Pupils read the paragraph and choose the correct words. (Activity 2).
5. Pipils match and say what they were doing (Activity 3). Pupils use prompts to make
sentences. (HOTS)
ACTIVITIES 6. Pupils work in pairs. They cut a piece paper into 6, 8 or 10 equal small pieces of paper
using a grid. On each small piece of paper, they write a sentence in the past simple.
Write an example on the board to show pupils what to do. They can use the examples in
Activity 3 for ideas. (21st CA)
7. In pairs put the small papers together in a pile. In turns, they take two papers from the
pile and try to make a sentence using the target language.
8. Pupils write the sentences in their notebooks. (CBA)
9. Have some pairs tell the class any funny sentences they made.

got (e.g. I have got 15 books.).
5. Put pupils in large groups. One pupil collects the papers, mixes them and redistributes them.

6. Pupils read the strips and take turns to ask the group members Have you got…? to find out whose
paper it is. At the end, pupils report to the group: Aiman has got 15 books.
