Reflection
1. Do you want to teach in a school setting/virtual classroom you just observed? Why? Why not?
Yes, I like to teach in Sapang Palay National High School. First, I came from this school and
I already know the rules policy and last, the students are fast learner and they are respectful to
the teachers.
2. What would you do to make your classroom more conducive to learning?
First of all, the atmosphere is clean for a school campus that is conducive to learning. It
should be a school that is child-friendly as well. It should have complete school facilities, such
General Academics and Teacher Education Department
as a library, speech laboratory, computer laboratory, and other facilities that are also
necessary or can assist with the student's learning. And finally, the people behind this campus
are a conducive to learning campus; I mean the teachers, principal and others should also be
child-friendly individuals that their presence will not threaten the students.
Activity 2: The School Site
Draw the layout of the school site. Describe the location of the school. You may be guided by
these questions:
1. Where is the school located?
2. Is the school accessible to the students?
3. Is the school free from distractions and health hazards?
4. Are there provisions for the playground?
Description of the School Site
There are different schools next to it and there’s a lot of house and sari-sari store at the front and
side of the school campus. The Sapang Palay National High Schoo, located at Barangay Fatima
V City of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. The campus of the Sapang Palay National High School
is beautiful; it has a wide campus. The ground of the campus is green because of grasses,
buildings are light yellow colors, and landscaping barriers are in color blue green. The condition
of the buildings in their campus are still in good, I can say that its being maintain, and I believe
the students here are safe when it come to the conditions of the buildings.
Activity 3: My Observation Report
General Academics and Teacher Education Department
Present/write your general impression of the school as a learning environment through a
Descriptive paragraph or Photo essay.
Impressions are important, whether for individual or an institution, I think what a
school chooses to display in its “front hall” or entry area tells you a lot about what the school
values most.
Some schools concentrate on pictures of young people who are outstanding athletes,
whether in primary, middle or high school. I have stepped into a variety of schools that have
all conference photos of young people or have helped the school win an athletic
championship. Some schools have pictures that display a broader range of accomplishment.
Some places have “student of the month” awards for various accomplishments. Some will
honor “most improved” students.
First impressions often are lasting impressions. Since schools aim to help young
people develop an array of talents and knowledge, shouldn’t they make this clear as people
first walk into their building?

Activity 2. Comparing the Learners
Salient characteristics Implications for the
Level observed Teaching-learning
process
Secondary students Very observant. Could speak Therefore, teachers should act
well and talks with sense. and behave accordingly for
Can read using their eyes they will be the model of the
only. students in the development
of right attitudes and values.
Reflections:
1. Recall your experiences when you were still in the elementary grades.
I was elementary, I’m grade 1 student. I don’t want to go to school then I cried in the room
because I really don’t want to go in and I want to go home. I remembered my teacher gave me
a chocolate to stop crying then I realized my classmates stared at me so I stop to cry and I keep
quiet.
2. Have you ever recalled your interactions when you were their age?
I recalled my experiences when I was just the same age, I am also fond of playing, running
and talking a lot with my seatmates and sometimes get scolded with the teacher because of not
paying attention.
3. What are your similarities and differences with the learner's you have observed?
While I’m observing the learners, I remembered those days when I was at their age. There’s a
lot of similarities and differences I remembered. The similarities are playing with my
classmates, sometimes not listening to the teacher, running inside the classroom, etc. The
difference is when I was a child, when I got warned by the teacher, I immediately behave
unlike the kids nowadays who are so stubborn and not listening to what their teachers says.
4. For positive or negative reasons, think of a teacher you can't forget. How has s/he helped you
(physical, emotional, social, and intellectual) with your needs?
Positive Reasons: I remembered my teacher gave me a chocolate to stop crying, because I
don’t want to go to school. I idolized her for her kindness, humility and have a sense of
humor. She motivates me to go to school and don’t cry. Her lesson and values are inculcated
in our hearts and she was one of my inspiration on being a teacher someday.
General Academics and Teacher Education Department
Negative Reasons: I cannot forget her because of the grade she gave to me in second grading.
I don’t know why she gave me that grade. I’m really disappointed that time. It’s the first
failing grade I get since junior high school. It really affects me emotionally, I was hurt
because I didn’t expect that.
5. How did these reasons affect you as a learner?
As a learner, I have to accept everything especially failure, due to failures I will learn more.
In learning, failures are common so we must be strong and failure is not opposite of success it
is part of success and it’s a way to make us as a better person.
Lesson 3: Classroom Management and Learning
ACTIVITY 1
Classroom Management Components
Below are some statements about classroom management. Put a checkmark on the space
provided for if the management component is observed in the class.

_____✓______8. The students are assigned specific tasks in the class.
_____✓______9. The teacher reinforces positive behavior of students.
___________10. Others (please specify)
An Observation Guide for the Classroom Visit (Virtual)
Be motivated as you make your observation on these issues. It is also useful to ask the teacher
for additional information, so you can verify your observation. Write your answers below.
1. Are there classroom rules and regulations?
Yes, they have a classroom rules and regulations. Example:
- Wears a complete, proper and prescribed uniform during school days
- Observe proper dress codes in all occasion
- To be punctual in going to school and all subject classes
- Observe appropriate, clean and neat haircut and style
- Wears ID and always take care of it
2. Are there a device to handle Misbehavior?
The teacher then advises the student that he/she is not following directions while the learner is
off-task. If the learner is still not following, then that's when the instructor can alert the
student of his or her actions and take some action on this issue.
General Academics and Teacher Education Department
3. What are the daily routine done by the teacher? (Prayer, attendance, assignments, motivation,
activities). How they are done?
When the teacher comes in , everyone will now stand and someone will lead the prayer then
after that, the good morning greeting will follow, then checking of assignments then
sometimes the teacher does some warm-up activities then introduces the new lesson.
4. What are the teacher’s command during instruction?
Once the teacher has given a command, she give the student a reasonable timespan (e.g., 5-15
seconds) to comply. During that waiting period, the instructor resist the temptation to nag the
student, elaborate on the request, or otherwise distract the student.
Activity 2: What Did I Learn?
Read the following situations and express your ideas by writing your learnings in classroom
managements.
1. There are bright students in the class. There are also slow ones. With these in mind, a teacher
provides a way of arranging them in the classroom so that everybody can benefit from
instruction. What do you think the teacher has done?
I think the teacher did the right thing by providing a way of arranging in the classroom for
everyone. Because there are bright and slow students, he combined it to keep up with the slow
students. As a future teacher I will also do what he did. Because that is one of the
development of students. The wise should not be here, then the unwise should be here.
Students must balance.
2. The cooperating teacher is well aware that classroom management includes the observance of
proper behavior and conduct. This is the reason why she maintains silence in the classroom. She
does not allow her students to talk loud or create noise while doing any activity. Is silence a good
indication that learning is taking place in the classroom? Explain your answer.
I think yes, because a student can think better if the place is quiet, no distraction will happen
especially if it is an exam. At our school, silence is often referred to as contemplative
reflection, or a time to think about the meaning of lessons in the classroom or experiences
beyond the school walls. While silent time is hard to fit into a busy day, it can help students
become open to deeper and greater learning. Offering opportunities for students to sit without
distraction helps them absorb content and remember it, and think about additional questions.
They can process the feelings and ideas expressed by their peers and consider the importance
of other perspectives.
Activity 3: In My Own Classroom
1. Imagine yourself in the future, organizing your classroom. What grade or year level do you
see yourself? What routine and procedure would you consider for this level?
If I were a teacher, I will prefer to teach in grade 10 class too because they are more mature
than in low grades. They are still manageable though they are independent, they can work in
their own without being told by the teacher. I would impose routines like cleaning inside and
outside the classroom before and after the class, prayer and checking attendance, and also the
General Academics and Teacher Education Department
rules and regulations to be followed strictly so that there would be a smooth flow of teaching-
learning process.
2. Make a list of the rules/routine you want to implement in this level. Why would you choose
these rules?
The following rules are:
- Avoid loitering during class hours
- Ask permission before leaving the classroom
- Respect yourself, others and environment
- Always maintain the cleanliness of the classroom
I would choose these rules because they are observable and achievable that would prevent the
students from misbehaving.
3. How will you handle the student’s misbehavior?
Sometimes the noise level in the classroom cannot be managed but when the teacher started to
change her tone (mad tone), the students attention are directly at the teacher. I will warns the
noisy students by giving them minus so the students will follow me but most of the time.
Activity 4: My Analysis
Discuss the following comprehensively by presenting a scenario or a situation as an example.
1. In what way did classroom management and discipline affect the teaching and learning
process?
Proper classroom management creates an ideal environment for learning. This is important
for teacher and student safety, happiness and productivity. An effective system of classroom
management can help avoid teacher burnout and reduce the need for shouting, scolding or
other stressful methods of discipline that create teacher-student conflict. This kind of
environment, as well as social/emotional growth, improves learning.
2. What are the contributing causes of the disciplinary problem in the classroom?
Peers. In the classroom, students who are bullied by their peers are often vulnerable to
disciplinary problems. While often harassed students are withdrawn to avoid drawing
attention to themselves in the classroom, some act out. Students who bully are also bullied at
home, prompting them to lash out at their peers. Students lash out and attack their peers in
class or even their instructor in unusual instances.
3. What do you think are the effective strategies in managing the behavior of the students?
Offer praises. Praise students for jobs well done, as doing so improves academic and
behavioral performance. When it is sincere and references specific examples of effort or
accomplishment, praise can:
- Inspire the class
- Improve a student’s self-esteem
- Reinforce rules and values you want to see

Lesson 5: Home-School Link
Activity 1: When I was a Child
Recall your childhood experiences. Discuss some significant experiences that helped develop
your total being. Focus on the aspects of personality.
1. Physical Aspect
My actions are done deliberately but sometimes I would still run and walk freely especially if I
playing. I could write legibly, read with comprehension and some can draw well.
2. Social Aspect
I listens attentively but sometimes engaged in talking to my seatmates. I respected the teachers. I
choose friends whom I get along well, where I could share similar experiences.
3. Emotional Aspect
I could hide my feelings, from being happy to sad. I could handle my emotions. Shy or ashamed
of crying and showing emotions in public.
4. Intellectual
I talks with sense. Ideas are expresses freely, communicates well. My opinions are mostly based
from my experiences and the teaching I gathered.
Activity 2:
My Learning Insights
1. What I have learned from the experience?
Control what you can control. Instead of constantly trying to control everything that happens
in your life just “roll with the punches.” Bad things are going to happen, handle the situations
with grace and maturity, but don’t try and change the things that you simply can’t change.
Trying to do this will be a waste of energy and time. You can control the effort you put into
your schoolwork, how hard you work on the athletic field, and how loud you sing in the
chorus. Focus on those things.
2. Involvement of Parents in the Classroom Activities.
In my own experience, the type of parenting style is authoritative style. They have a clear and
reasonable expectations and limitations for us. For instance, my mother would let me play and
go with my friends outside but never too far away so that she can see us easily and make sure
we are safe. She also encourages us to participate any school activities depends our skills and
interest
General Academics and Teacher Education Department
3. The teacher's role in providing linkages between the home and the school.
To define shared goals and change strategies for optimal performance, partners establish
common ground. Responsibility Shared. At home and school, parents and teachers share
responsibility for solving problems. They express to students simple goals, plans and objectives
and work for the same results.
Activity 3:
As a Future Teacher
Cite your plans on How-----
1. You will maintain a good home-school relationship.
As a future teacher to be, I will build a good working relationship to the parents. Their
collaboration would be a great help in regards to home-school link. I will make sure that they
will do their job in providing the needs of their children. I can work well with the parents
through consulting the behavior of the child in their house. I can help them through reporting
the child’s progress and performance in school.
