The difference between hardware and software
The SOFTWARE: is the set of
programs (instructions) that
make the computer do the
processing and produce the
desired result.
HARDWARE: is the physical part,
represented in the computer for its
mechanical parts, electronic and
magnetic short, the hardware is all
that can be touched.
Basically consists of: CPU (central
processing unit), memory units and
input or output.
The steps to execute any instruction

1-Ask the computer to do some thing using the input devices
like open Microsoft word program by clicking on it using
the mouse
2-The computer tells the Operating system to execute it .
The O.S access to the program and open it .

Central processing unit(CPU) is a hardware unit.
It controls what and how the data is processed.
Writing Example
• When you type , the program tells the
O.S which then ask the cpu to show
information on the screen .
What will happen if the program
has a problem
• If the program has a problem before the
O.S tells the CPU to save everything ,
you can lose your work.

SOFTWARE: instructions that tell a computer what to do.
The two main types of software are system software and application
software.
System software controls a computer’s internal functioning through
an operating system, and also controls such peripherals as monitors,
printers, and storage devices.
Application software:directs the computer to execute commands given by the
user and may be said to include any program that processes data for a user.
Such Word ,Excel,Internet Explorer.
