Session-1:department orientation

we were addressed by the hod of instrumentation
and control systems "mr.arunshankar" he briefed us
about the campus amenities and lab
facilities....he also shared the vision of the
department and what he expects from the
students...he also explained everyone about the
courses offered in psg...he beautifully illustrated
what an autonomous institution is all about,,,further
he expected everyone to make use of this 4 years
and always work with commitment
session-2:youth leadership (address by the ncc
department):

various departments from the institution were
present at the quadrangle area....we were addressed
by the ncc departments...we were explained the
perks of being in ncc....everyone felt motivated after
the program
session-3(address by the physical department and
info regarding yoga/exercise)

we were addressed by the physical
department...they went through the sports facility
available in the institution...they also encouraged
everyone to take up sports...and highlighted the
perks of taking it up...also they briefed us about the
yoga/exercise which was part of the induction
program…

session-1:"role of mathematics in engineering"

we were addressed by "mr.arumuganathan" he was
one of the most senior most staff in the institution
with 36 years of experience....he began the session
with why mathematics is the bread and butter of
instrumentation and control engineering...he also
conveyed about his ideology of questioning and
proactive thinking...he then explained the
importance of statistics and data analysis....he also
expected everyone to be interactive in his
forthcoming lectures
session-2 :"read today,lead tomorrow"

we were addressed by the department of
library....they explained us about the importance of
reading...they also briefed us about the various
varieties and collections of books present in the
library...it was highly exciting to know the library
facilities offered by the institution...it was fully
computerised and was designed in a user friendly
manner...also we were given a tutorial on how to use
the library and its rules and regulations....overall it
was an highly informative session
session-3"humanities vs engineering"

we were addressed by "mrs.sangeetha" she made
everyone understand why engineers need to learn
about humanities....she also gave everyone a simple
task named "swot" which meant
strengths,weaknesses,opportunities,thoughts...
we were asked to write them in a paper and analyse
them....overall it helped us to introspect ourselves
and analyse our potential
session-2:"problem solving techniques"

we were addressed by "mrs.aarthi mai" from
computer science department…she briefed us about
problems in a subjective motive and how does one
solve them....she even pointed out few examples and
gave everyone a simple problem solving-task which
was expected to be solved by if and else
constraints...

session-1:yoga/exercise

we were asked to report to ground at 7 am....we
were made to jog few rounds and were asked to
perform pushups,squats,high-knees....it was highly
refreshing and an excellent way to begin the day....
session-2:"physics in everyday life"

we were addressed by "mr.prassana" from physics
department...he shared us about his overseas
knowledge and acquired skills....it was highly
inspiring and motivating and enlightening...he also
stated about how versatile our department is...also
he shared his ideology on how we are supposed to
conduct ourselves in the future...he also expects
everyone to have good economical knowledge...he
also stated how the technology has evolved
compared to few centuries...he also expects
everyone to make reading as an habit
session-3:"visualisation of mathematical concepts"

the class began with an question from
"mr.arugmuganathan" he asked us to state a few
mathematical cases where visualisation was
required....he then stated the importance of
visualisation in the concept of mathematics...we
were then introduced to functions with two
independent variables i.e f(x,y)...and we were asked
to sketch the graph of few equations

areas....we were instructed and made aware about
how the grading is done during exams...few notable
points were,a minimum of 75% attendance is
mandatory....choices given for every department to
choose professional electives...continuous
assessment for 50 marks is held for every
course...and absent for exams is considered as
fail....and the perks of cbse can be used to the fullest
only after 3rd sem

"dr.apj.abdul kalam" we were given an brief idea on
how technology changes over the years....we were
encouraged to indulge in out of the box thinking and
innovative ideologies...we were also motivated to
perform every task with sheer commitment in
life...also we were taught the importance of
scheduling and prioritising things in life

we were briefed upon the concept of problem solving
in-terms of
academics and how to approach them...we were
then introduced to algorithms and how to draw an
skeletal structure of a problem solving
technique....and various procedures involved in
it...later we were explained on
interpreters,compilers,assemblers...further we learnt
about translators and registers...also we learnt about
syntax and runtime errors

we were addressed by "mr.ravi" who was from the
chemistry department...he was a former industrialist
and has excellent field experience on material
chemistry....he briefed us about why our life needs
chemistry and how is it related to engineers...the
whole session consisted of a presentation which
was highly informative....he also inspired us by
saying our department is in high need to the
industries....

the session began with introduction to graphing
functions...we were explained about shifting the
graph of functions toward x and y axis....the whole
session was very interactive as this was the
introduction to precalculus....we were the given few
questions by arumuganathan sir to solve..

we were asked to jog a few rounds and were asked
to do pushups,squats,high-knees....further selection
for various sports was conducted....

we were given a more deeper analysis on the topic
of graph transformations by arumuganathan sir and
were introduced to few more operations such as
scaling and rotating...we were also introduced to the
ideology of thomas calculus and his principles on
graphing...later we were given questions to
solve...which was very interesting....later he ended
the class with introduction to calculus and
differential calculus with an graphical example....i.e
slope of the function f(x)

we were addressed by "mr.senthilkumar" he was
sharing his vision and ideology towards
communication and language skills...he narrated us
few real life stories to brief us about the power of
communication and speaking skills....he also shared
a few tips on how to conduct ourselves in public
speaking and job interviews...he also highlighted the
importance of eye contact...and also advised us to
have high self confidence...he also talked about his
understanding about psychology and his counselling

of polymers and how hard life is without polymers....

writing...later we were briefed about the principles
to be followed while writing both of these....we were
given tasks which helped us understand the rules of
subjective and technical writing more
effectively....we were then informed about the
language electives and the upcoming english test
which would act as an merit criteria for the above
mentioned....

mr.prasanna highlighted how physics is dependant
on maths and illustrated the mathematical
representation of physics concepts...he also
explained the unification of physics....he also
believes transistors are the most remarkable
