which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way. (Eph 1:22-23 NIV)

Ephesian 1:22-23

Introduction:
What is church means?

- a building used for public Christian worship. English Dictionary

- as “an assembly” or “called-out ones.” Greek Lexicon
Greek ekklesia means –an assembly of Christians gathered for worship in a religious meeting.”

Many people believe that the church is a building. Where we pray, worship God and gather as one family of
Christ. We are the church, and every people believed in Christ and received Him as Savior.

Church illustrate similar into human body compose head and the body. Its part has certain function and role as
one body.

TS: Now let’s go first at the upper part: the Head.

I. Church Head is CHRIST v.21
We know that the head is the prior and important part of our body. Because here we can locate our brain.

“The brain is one of the largest and most complex organs in the human body. It is made up of more than 100
billion nerves that communicate in trillions of connections called synapses.” Matthew Hoffman, MD

Christ is the Son's appointment "as Head over . . . the church" (cf. 4:15; 5:23; Col. 1:18). This aspect of
His Lordship is evident now.

Jesus Christ rules and governs his people and directs them towards the fulfilment of God’s purposes. All power
and authority within the church derive from Jesus Christ as the head.

Role of Christ as the head of the CHURCH

He loves the church.

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her (Eph 5:25 NIV)

He cares for the church.

29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does
the church-- 30 for we are members of his body. (Eph 5:29-30 NIV)

He provides for the growth of the church.

19 They have lost connection with the head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by
its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow. (Col 2:19 NIV)

He prays for the church.

20 "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their
message,
21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so
that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that
they may be one as we are one-- 23 I in them and you in me--so that they may be brought to complete
unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
24 "Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you
have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. 25 "Righteous Father, though the
world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26 I have made you known
to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them
and that I myself may be in them." (Joh 17:20-26 NIV)

He judges the church.

23 I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and
minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds. (Rev 2:23 NIV)

He will present the church blameless before God.

27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but
holy and blameless. (Eph 5:27 NIV)

Second part of the church: the Body

II. Church Body is the Believers. v2
According to Human Anatomy says,

The skeletal system in the body is made up of 206 bones that are arranged in the axial skeletal system
and the appendicular skeletal system. The axial skeletal system runs along the midline axis in the body
and it is made up of 80 bones that include the skull, hyoid, auditory ossicles, ribs, sternum and
vertebral column. The appendicular skeleton is made up of 126 bones that include the upper limbs,
lower limbs, pelvic girdle and pectoral (shoulder) girdle.

There are three types of muscle tissue (more than 600 muscles) in the body including skeletal muscle,
cardiac muscle and smooth muscle. Skeletal muscle is the kind of muscle that helps to create movement
in the body. The skeletal muscles make up 40 percent of a person's body weight. Cardiac muscle is
involuntary muscle in the body and make up the muscles found in the heart cavity. Smooth muscle is
also an involuntary muscle, but it makes up the walls of organs, blood vessels and respiratory
passageways.
Now, the church divide into different parts according to its gift and capabilities.

27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 28 And God has placed in the church first
of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and
of different kinds of tongues. (1Co 12:27-28 NIV)

We are united as one body but we have different role and function as the body of Christ. Some of called to be
pastor, teachers, and evangelist…or others. God already bless us talents and its talent we can serve Him and to
make the church grow.

Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly: if
prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith; if service, in his serving; or he who teaches, in his teaching; or
he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows
mercy, with cheerfulness. Romans 12:6-8

And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and
teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we
all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of
the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. Ephesians 4:11-13

Maybe some of you think, Pastor I’m not good in teaching, not good in evangelism, I’m not good for Song
Leader. Brothers and Sister in Christ, God poured out His blessing to us. Search your heart what you desire most
and can contribute to the Church growth and pray for boldness to use it in serving Christ.

Please kindly look to your seatmate and said, “Brother/Sister you are the church! Church needs you! Are you
willing to serve for His kingdom?”

Role of the Members as the body of Christ.

We are called to promote truth and unity.
Ephesians 4:25 says, "Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor,
for we are all members of one body."

We are called to service.

1 Corinthians 12:4-11 outlines the importance of using your God-given spiritual gift. Your gift is unique
and equally important. It is essential to the body that you use your special gift in service to God.

We are called to share Jesus.

Romans 1:16 says, "I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of
everyone who believes…" As part of the body of Christ, you are to share your life-changing story with
others!

We are called to worship.

"It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High, to proclaim your love in the
morning and your faithfulness at night" (Psalm 92:1-2).

We are called to love each another.

"1 John 4:11 says, "Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another."

Are you a contributing member of the body of Christ? Are you actively serving God and sharing Him with others?
Are you contributing to peace and unity within the body? Do you worship regularly?

Before you go out in this chapel asks yourself “In my remaining time here on Earth what I can contribute in this
Church?”

Conclusion:
Christ the Head of the Church and He gave all He have for us to see how He loved us before the very foundation
of the world and Church as the Body of Christ has role and responsibility to do.

If you don’t have part now in the ministry of Christ when you are going to start? Next day? Next Month? Next
Year? Or Never Mind? Brother and Sister in Christ, TODAY, RIGHT NOW, are the perfect time, DON’T LOST IT or
maybe tomorrow it’s too late for YOU.
