B. EXPLORE
That is a clock teacher
- So anyone knows what is this?
(showing clock picture)
- Okay this is a clock. The clock tells time teacher
-class did you know what clock tells?
-Very Good Juneth the clock tells time. Our lesson for today teacher is all about Time measure
-So anyone who can guess our lesson for today?
Very Good !
For today’s lesson we are in Chapter 4 lesson 1 it’s all
about “Time Measure”
C. EXPLAIN
1min(minutes)= 60s (seconds)
1 h (hour)= 60 min
1 day= 24 h
1 week = 7 days
1 month = 30 days (April, June,
September, November)
31 days ( January,
March, May, July,
August, October,
December)
28 days ( Febuary
regular year)
29 days (Febuary leap
year)
1y (year)= 365 days ( 366 on a
leap year)
1 decade= 10 years
1 century= 100 y
Time can be measured in seconds, minutes,
hours, days, weeks, months, and years with
clocks and calendars.
-In converting from one unit to another, the rule is,
From bigger to smaller unit Multiply
From smaller to bigger unit Divide
D. ELABORATE
I have some example how to measure time.
Listen and understand my discussion because after
this I will give you a test and I will call someone to
solve the problem.
Example #1. How many minutes are in 3 hours?
Solution: since 1h = 60 min then multiply 60 x 3= 180
So, 3 h is equal to 180 min.
Example #2 How many Seconds in 5 minutes?
Who wants to answer example #2
Okay Charina answer example #2
(Charina will come in front and solve the problem)
Very Good Charina
Example #3. How many hours are in one-half day?
Solution: There are 24 h in 1 day. For ½ day,
Multiply ½ x 24 or divide 24 by 2 to get 12h.
So one-half day is equal to 36 hours.
Example #4 How many days in 3 weeks?
Ericca, do you have an idea of how many days in (Ericca will answer the Example #4)
3weeks?
Very Good! Ericca
Did you know why Time measurement is important? No teacher
Time measurement is very important for us to learn
because we are using it almost the whole day
everyday. In Did you know?, the words minutes,
hours, days and years are all measures of time.
Yes, teacher
Do you Understand Class?
Before we proceed to our evaluation lets recall our
lesson for today
Base on the Table units 60 seconds teacher
How may seconds in 1min?
60 minutes Teacher
How many minutes in 1 hour?
How many hours in 1 day? 24 hours teacher
Very Good! Class
E. EVALUATE
Get 1 sheet of paper and Complete the table.
1. 1 min= ___________s
2 min=___________s (The student will get a piece of paper then answer the
5 min=___________s given question)
½ min=___________s
3 ½ min=__________s
2. 1 day=_______h
2 days=______h
6 days=______h
½ day=______h
