Introduction
This Special Instruction provides the information in order to rework the fan drive assembly. The new fan drive
relocates the solenoid to prevent dust particles from entering the bearings of the solenoid.

1. Remove the five 8T-4137 Bolts and 7X-7729 Washers to remove the 375-5701 Guard As . The guard
assembly, bolts, and washers will be reused later.

2. Cut off the five 3S-2093 Cable Straps and disconnect the connectors. Remove the 265-3593 Plate As with
three 457-8757 Bolts and three 453-3451 Hard Washers .

3. Remove six 453-3435 Bolts and six 453-3451 Hard Washers to remove the 281-3589 Fan Drive As with the
230-2892 Fan . Remove six 5C-7261 Nut and six 453-3451 Hard Washers to remove the 230-2892 Fan from
the 281-3589 Fan Drive As . The 230-2892 Fan , six 453-3435 Bolts and 12 453-3451 Hard Washers are
reused later.
4. Replace the connector plug assembly.

a. Remove all the wires from the 155-2273 Connector Plug As and connect the wires to the 239-7352
Connector Plug As with the same PIN.
b. Install the 8T-8737 Seal Plug from the PIN no 6 of the 155-2273 Connector Plug As to the PIN no 6
of the 239-7352 Connector Plug As .

5. Install the 230-2892 Fan to the 462-9952 Fan Drive As with six 453-3432 Bolts and six 453-3451 Hard
Washers . Tighten the bolts to a torque of 23.5 ± 3.5 N·m (208 ± 31 lb in). Install the 462-9952 Fan Drive As
with six 453-3435 Bolts and six 453-3451 Hard Washers . Install the 375-5701 Guard As with five 8T-4137
Bolts and five 7X-7729 Washers .

(4) 3S-2093 Cable Straps
6. Connect the chassis harness connector and fan drive assembly harness connector. Tie the harnesses with four
3S-2093 Cable Straps .
7. Confirm the fan speed at the engine speed dial 10 to be 1400 ± 50 rpm.
Note: Fan speed at the engine speed dial 1-3 should be 750 ± 100 rpm.
