LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 4
I. Learning Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:
1. Identify the planets in the Solar System
2. Draw a solar system and label it.
3. Recognize the value of having knowledge why solar system exist.
II. Learning Content
A. Topic: Solar System
B. Materials: Printed pictures
C. References: Science Learner Material 4
D. Values integration: Observing and Analyzing
III. PROCEDURE
TEACHERS ACTIVITY PUPILS ACTIVITY
A. Preliminary Activity
1. Prayer
Let us stand for a short prayer
Anna please lead the prayer
We pray our school would be place of great discovery,
adventure and creativity. May it be a place where we
love to learn and where we learn to love, A place where
everyone is respected and all are deeply valued. We ask
all this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
2. Greetings
Good morning, children Good morning ma’am
3. Energizer
Let us sing the song “ The Eight Planets ”
MERCURY VENUS AND EARTH MARS JUPITER AND
SATURN URANUS NEPTUNE THE EIGHT PLANETS
(REPEAT)
4. Checking of Attendance
Are there any absent in the class? None ma’am
Very good, it seems like you are all excited to learn
new things today. Am I right class?
Yes ma’am
5. Before we begin our lesson for today,
let us recall the what to do during
class.
1. Be prepared
2. Be positive
3. Be productive
4. Be respectful
5. Be participative
B. Developing Activities
Review
Before we start I have prepared a game called
“Identify Me”
I will be showing youa pictures and you must identify
what Planet it is. Yes ma’am!!!
Are you all ready?
Now let us start
our game!

Good job everyone. Give yourself a round of applause.

Do you have any idea what is our lesson this morning?

What questions do you have about the solar system?

Activity ”Arrange Me”
Yes ma’am
Let’s have a group activity. I will group you into 2
groups, and I will give each group pictures of the
planets I want you to arrange the proper sequence of ( The learners will participate)
the planet in our solar system. I will only give you 5
minutes and the first group to finish will be the winner.
Do you all understand?
Okay, now let’s start I have learn to identify the arrangement of the solar
system and the Eight planets.
EXPLAIN
Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn Uranus
Let us examine what you have learned.
and Neptune.
What have you learned during our activity? Anyone?
Which are?
Solar System is important for sustaining life, scientific
exploration, resource availability, safety, and inspiring
curiosity
Excellent.
Now can you tell me the importance of the Solar
System?
Without the Solar System, life as we know it would not
exist.
Very good.
What happens when we don’t have Solar System?
Very good.
ELABORATE
We have eight planets right? They are Mercury, Venus,
Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune
First we have the planet Mercury
1. Mercury
Mercury is the smallest planet in the solar
system and the closest to the Sun. It is
named after the Roman messenger god
because it moves quickly across the sky..
Second is Venus
2. Venus
Venus is the second planet from the Sun
and is often referred to as Earth's "sister
planet" due to their similar sizes and
compositions. However, despite these
similarities, Venus has a vastly different
environment compared to Earth. Venus is
named after the roman goddess of love
and beauty.
Third is Earth
3. Earth
Earth is the third planet from the Sun and
is the only known planet in the universe to
support life. It is the largest of the
terrestrial planets in the solar system and
has a diverse range of environments, from
oceans to mountains, deserts, and forests.
Fourth is Mars
4. Mars
Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and
is often called the "Red Planet" due to its
reddish appearance caused by iron oxide
(rust) on its surface.
Fifth is Jupiter
5. Jupiter
Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar
system, known as a gas giant
Sixth is Saturn
6. Saturn
Saturn is the sixth planet from the Sun and
the second-largest planet in the solar
system, after Jupiter. It is known for its
distinctive ring system, composed mainly
of ice particles and rocky debris.
Seventh is Uranus
7. Uranus
Uranus is the seventh planet from the Sun
and is classified as an ice giant. Its name is
is a reference to the Greek God of the sky,
Uranus, who according to Greek
mythology is the grandfather of Zeus and
father of Cronus.
Eight is Neptune
8. Neptune
Neptune is the eighth and farthest known
planet from the Sun in the Solar System. In
the solar system, it is the fourth largest
planet by diameter, the third most massive
planet, and the densest giant planet
1. Mercury
EVALUATION 2.Neptune
I think you already understand our lesson, so we will 3.Neptune
have a short quiz. Get one half sheet of paper and listen
to me carefully because I will be repeating the 4.Uranus
questions twice. Okay?
5. Saturn
Questions:
6. Mars
1. This planet is the smallest and closest planet to
7. Jupiter
the sun.
2. It is the eight and farthest known solar planet 8. Earth
from the sun.
3. It is the densest giant planet in the solar system.
4. It is classified as an ice giant.
5. The second largest planet in the solar system. 9-10 Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn,
6. Often called as the "Red Planet" due to its Uranus, Neptune.
reddish appearance.
7. The largest planet in the solar system and
known as a gas giant.
8. Is the only known planet in the universe to
support life.
9-15. Name all the planets in the solar system
