DESIGN YOUR OWN THEME PARK
This task is designed for 3 weeks worth of
Foundation learning lessons.
During this task you will develop your maths and English skills.
You will use the following numeracy skills when designing your theme park:
1. Using tally charts
2. Calculating costs
3. Estimating revenue
This theme park project asks you to get creative and use your literacy skills
by:
1. Coming up with a name for your theme park and some thrilling rides
2. Designing a brochure to advertise the theme park
3. Designing web banners or a billboard
4. Writing a script for a television or radio ad
5. Writing a magazine article about the theme park
Your theme park will take 3 weeks to design. You should aim to complete
the stages below each week.

How to plan your theme park
1. Remember you only have £4 million (£4,000,000) to spend.
2. You MUST have 3 themed areas
3. Each area MUST have a place to eat
4. You MUST have a first aid booth
5. You MUST have 10 bins
6. You MUST have 20 benches
7. Below is how much each type of ride costs, the colour it needs to be
shaded on your plan and how many squares you need to use for it.
You have a BUDGET sheet. Keep track with a tally on how much you are
spending. You could plan your spending FIRST to make sure you don’t
spend too much.
You also have an outline MAP of the land you have to build your theme
park on. Each square on there is 50m² MARK your rides onto the map. If
you don’t have access to colours you can use different markings with a pen
or pencil. E.g. dots, stripes, stars etc.

YOUR THEME PARK BROCHURE
Now you have planned your theme park it’s time to tell your customers about it in more
detail. You will do this through a brochure/leaflet.
Your brochure should have 4 pages.
1. Front cover
2. A telling the customer about the 3 themed areas
3. Details of the rides and attractions
4. Information on the food outlets.

Now that you have planned your theme park it is now time to
make sure it makes money so its time to look at the costs and
prices.

Draw images of your target market and annotate them to provide a clear view on who you
expect to visit your theme park.

• Their age
• Will there be families?
• Remember if you are aiming at your age – who provides all the money and gets them
there. Is it better to have families or young adults etc.

Now you have decided on the price of tickets. Design a sample online ticket. This ticket could be booked online and printed off to avoid
lengthy queues on the day.
The example should be for 2 adults and 2 children.
