A NOTE FROM THE HOME OFFICE
Music is one of the most important, exciting, and fun parts of the Zumba
experience. Zumba Fitness respects all cultures, languages, religions and
worldviews and does its best to accommodate ZIN Members with resources we
can use proudly. Although there are some cultural variations and interpretations
that may vary, all ZIN song lyrics are carefully assessed, which includes the literal
and cultural meaning of each song. Everyone interprets these meanings
differently depending on their own experiences and perspective, which is why the
Home Office doesn't attempt to provide a single conclusive interpretation in
English. If you teach at a religious or family-oriented facility, please use extra
care with song selection and be aware of any sensitivities. All of our songs are
intended for mainstream audiences; for songs that may be considered ‘spicy’ you
will see a chili pepper. If you are still unsure, simply ask your fellow ZIN Members
on the Forum. You might even get some on-the-spot song translations!
ZIN 27 TRACK 1 LAS MUJERES LO BAILAN BIEN
“Las mujeres lo bailan bien” means women dance it well – it describes every woman’s talent to
express herself in dance, thanks to a god-given gracefulness. He says blondes and brunettes
dance it well, skinny women and chubby women dance it well. He mentions all the different
types of music they dance well to, and that they dance well facing all directions. This merengue
is sure to prove that theory in your class!

ZIN 27 TRACK 2 CALI PACHANGUERO
You may have heard this classic before. It is one of Beto’s favorites because it is an ode to Cali,
the city in Colombia where he is from. It describes Cali as a vibrant and alive place. He
mentions that he wants the world to sing, mimic them and be jealous of its essence. He wants
people to come from miles away, because he doesn’t want to leave it.“Pachanguero” comes
from the word “pachanga” which is a loud and passionate party.
This particular version, which is sung partly in English, is from a 1988 movie called “Salsa” –
also a Beto favorite.
