For our Myra Falls mine located in British Columbia, Canada, we are currently looking to hire a:
Maintenance Manager
This exciting role is located at Nyrstar’s Myra Falls operation, part of the Americas group, with the closest community
being Campbell River, on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Campbell River is situated along the Georgia
Strait, and has around 35,000 residents. Campbell River is a city that enjoys an exceptional quality of life including

Nyrstar Myra Falls is located in spectacular Strathcona Provincial Park, which is a testament to our environmental
commitment – the only North American underground mine operating in a provincial park. Surrounded by mountains
and lakes, the 1.5 hour trip to the mine has some of the world’s most impressive views. A location like this, both for
living and working is rare in the mining industry.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Maintenance Manager is accountable to manage and decisively lead all
aspects of site-wide maintenance pertaining to both Surface and Underground.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Meet or exceed maintenance objectives in a safe, effective and cost-efficient manner
Achieve Zero accidents and incidents
Administer all safety, environmental and training regulations and guidelines
Manage the Mobile Surface and Underground Mining Fleet Maintenance
Manage Fixed Plant Maintenance (Shaft/Hoist, Mill, Power Generation & Distribution, Infrastructure &
Services)
Prepare Operating and Capital Budgets
Manage costs, and explain costs & variances against budget
Implement and align short, medium and long term maintenance plans with business objectives
Partner with other departments to ensure optimal operational performance
Change culture from reactive to PROACTIVE
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with, or eligible for, professional designation
Demonstrated commitment to a zero harm safety culture through modelling safety behaviors and
implementing safety improvement initiatives
Minimum of 15 years practical experience in polymetallic/base metals mining with a minimum of 5 years in
underground hard rock mines
Minimum of 7 years practical experience in managing maintenance functions at the manager-level
Extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering, mining methods, and industry accepted practices
Experience in the development and management (development, feasibility, modelling, and implementation
experience) of major research and technology projects to include underground automation
Experience in implementing in direct operating cost (DOC) reductions
Experience in implementing continuous improvement initiatives to increase throughput
Demonstrated cultural change experience
Knowledge of Mine Regulations, Safety Principles and industry accepted practices
Proficient computer skills (SAP, Microsoft Office Suite)
Commitment to safe work practices
Experience leading and managing within a unionized environment is desirable
Ability to work within a team environment with demonstrated leadership qualities
Compensation and Benefits:
Base Annual Salary: between CAD$ 120,000 to CAD$ 160,000
Annual Vacation: 20 days
Eligible to participate in Retirement and Savings Plans
This is a residential role. No fly in or fly out
This position is eligible for sponsored relocation to the Campbell River area
Housing support: Interim housing (up to 2 months) while permanent housing is located
