Awareness and attitude on HPV vaccination : a cross-sectional study among women attending a
tertiary care hospital in rural Central India
AIM
To assess awareness and attitude towards HPV infection and vaccine among women attending a
tertiary care hospital in rural Central India
OBJECTIVE
1. To assess the awareness about HPV virus infection as causative factor for cervical cancer
2. To assess the knowledge about availability of HPV vaccination
3. To assess the attitude towards getting vaccinated
4. To assess vaccination status among the women surveyed
METHODOLOGY
Study Type : Observational type
Study design : Cross Sectional Study
The procedure for the study will begin by selecting the female candidates satisfying the inclusion
criteria, rejecting based on the exclusion criteria , from Rural Tertiary Care Hospital in Wardha
District.
After taking proper consent , women will be interviewed one-to-one using a questionnaire. All the
data taken from patients will be anonymised prior to publication and con dentiality maintained at
all times.
Finally , the data will be curated , analysed and the ndings published .
Study population : The study will be conducted on women attending Rural Tertiary Care Hospital
in Central India .
Selection Criteria :
Inclusion criteria: All women above 18 years of age who give informed consent
Exclusion criteria : Women failing to give consent
Women below 18 years
Women already diagnosed and treated for advanced stages of cancer cervix
Data Collection Tool :
The questionnaire used for data collection consists of question related to
1. Demographic characteristics of respondents
2. The level of knowledge possessed by patients relating to HPV infection and HPV vaccination
3. The attitude towards the same
The questionnaire is selected based on previous study carried out (1) and will be used after
validation from subject experts .

Sample Size :
Accordingly , this sample size is 117 . Hence , we will enroll 120 women as our study participants.
Data Analysis :
Microsoft Excel will be utilised for the data analysis .
