In the Renewable Energy Sector, Shri Singh was able to catalyze India’s potential;
leading to renewable energy capacity reaching around 169 GW as on date and approx.
65 GW under installation in what has been one of the fastest energy transitions in the
world.

Under his leadership, India achieved its NDC target of having 40 percent of its
established power generation capacity from non fossil fuel sources 9 years in advance
in 2021 instead of 2030.

Due to Shri Singh’s restless and painstaking efforts, the Indian power sector has
undergone a paradigm shift and transformed into a new age power sector which is
now more efficient, viable and sustainable.

Under his esteemed guidance, foresight, decision making and supportive policy
design; Indian power sector is far ahead among its peer economies as well as many
developed economies.

The laudable development in Indian power sector is being echoed by many

International agencies such as IEA, IRENA, and Bloomberg etc. along with comity of
nations and India emerged as a leader in global fight against climate change. The
growing acceptance of International Solar Alliance (ISA) and increasing number of
member states is clear evidence of his leadership.

Under the able leadership of Shri R. K. Singh, India is today the 4th largest globally
Renewable Energy Installed capacity, 4th largest in Wind power capacity & 4th largest
in Solar Power capacity.

Dr Uttam Kumar Ghorai

Assistant Professor and Head - Department of

Dr. Uttam Kumar Ghorai is currently working as an Assistant Professor and Head of the
Department in the Department of Industrial Chemistry and Applied Chemistry,
Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira, Belur Math, Howrah, India. He has completed his
MTech (Master of Technology) in Nanoscience and Technology in 2011 and PhD in
Materials Science & Nanotechnology in 2016, both from Jadavpur University, Kolkata.

Dr. Ghorai has established a vibrant research programs in the field of Materials Science
& Nanotechnology at Swami Vivekananda Research Centre, Ramakrishna Mission
Vidyamandira Institution, Belur Math, Howrah. Dr. Ghorai has been devoted to
promoting the development of sustainable processes and products as an independent
researcher. His study focuses mostly on electrochemical methods for the synthesis of
ammonia, urea, and nitric acid under ambient conditions. As the main source of
nitrogen, the macronutrient used in fertiliser, these three compounds are particularly
significant. He could develop novel electrochemical conversion catalysts for these
three important compounds and successfully demonstrate pilot plant-scale
manufacture of these catalysts. Importantly, he used these electrocatalysts in his
unique electro-catalytic procedures to obtain industrial-scale current density and a
high yield rate with 100% Faradaic efficiency. Transition metal-phthalocyanine
nanotubes (FePc, CoPc, CuPc, etc.) are the source of these catalysts (in a
kilogram/batch reaction). All of these processes are appropriately IPR protected. He
has published 112 research papers in peer-reviewed International journals (H-index:
30 and total citations ~ 2750) and has been the co-inventor of seven patents.
