Thank you for supporting SOS Children’s Villages India!

For over 5 decades SOS CV India continues to provide children without parental care or at
the risk of losing it, a value chain of quality care services that ensures comprehensive
child development. However, the profile of children coming to our programs has been
changing over the years and especially during the COVID Pandemic. After an in -depth
analysis of these trends SOSCV India customized its care interventions to the needs of the
changing profiles of children in need of care and protection. Our child care services have
evolved into a ‘Basket of care solutions’ offered to these different needs of different children.
These customized care interventions such as, Family Like Care, Family Strengthening, Kinship
Care, Short Stay Homes, Foster Care, Youth Skilling, Emergency Childcare and Special
Needs Childcare are aimed at transforming lives and making children self-reliant and
contributing members of society.

Today, over 6,700 children live in more than 440 family homes in 31 SOS Children’s Villages
in 22 states/UTs from Srinagar to Kochi and Bhuj to Shillong, lovingly cared for and nurtured
by nearly 600 SOS mothers and aunts. We are directly touching the lives of around 65000+
children every year through our range of care services.

skills and other resources & opportunities that help them grow as individuals, encourage their
dreams and desires to become a better member of society.

This handbook gives you important information about your sponsorship.

How your contribution makes a difference

Your contribution supports all programmes at a specific location. The contribution covers the
living costs of the entire village, as well as all additional SOS programmes in the area. Most
SOS Children’s Villages run supporting facilities and programmes, such as Kindergartens,
Hermann Gmeiner Schools, Social Centers and Medical Centers. The services offered here
also benefit the neighboring communities. SOS Children’s Villages seeks to reach as many
vulnerable children as possible. To strengthen families at risk of breaking apart and make it
possible for them to stay together is often the best way to help children. Therefore, our
Family Strengthening Programme increasingly focus on helping families in the local
community. The programmes provide support to gain skills and resources needed to become
self-sufficient and give their children the care that all children deserve. While supporting our
work, you help improve the living conditions of exposed children and their families in the
local community.

programmes, along with the progress made by the child.
-Receipt/ Tax exemption certificate of the donation (if PAN Number shared)

country.

Your only commitment as a sponsor is your continous sponsorship contribution, which is

extremely crucial.

Protecting the data of the child
We care about child data protection, the same way we care about donor data protection.
This is why we only use the name of the children in our care. We aim to maximize their
privacy, protect their identity and safeguard them. The child ID is printed on the sponsorship
documents. Please use this number whenever you contact us or send post to your sponsored
child. This will ensure that, even if many children share the same first name, your letter
reaches your sponsored child or that we can answer your request promptly.

Since protecting the rights of the children in our care is an essential part of our work, we
carefully observe the relevant data protection regulations. Please understand that there are
details about the children in our care which we cannot pass on to sponsors. As a sponsor,
we ask you to treat the information entrusted to you about the children with discretion.
Please do not publish pictures or information about your sponsored child or family on the
internet or any other media channels. We also ask you not to pass on information to third
parties outside your immediate family or circle of friends and to treat confidential data with
care.

Writing to your sponsored child

-You are welcome to send letters and pictures. It is however not possible to contact your
sponsored child via e-mail / telephone.
-The children may respond to your letters if they choose to, but they are not obliged to
write back to their sponsors. In any case, you will receive a confirmation or a reply from our
sponsorship office.
-If you want to send your sponsored child a gift, we suggest (only) small gifts that will fit in
an envelope and which can be enjoyed by all the children in the family. This could be a
packet of stickers, hair slides and ribbons, coloring books or something similar.
