Major Weather System over the Region

Southwest monsoon been subdued over Sub Himalayan West Bengal.

Rainfall occurred at most places over Sub Himalayan West Bengal and at many places over
Gangetic West Bengal.

Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over Northeast & adjoining East Central Bay of
Bengal, a Low Pressure Area has formed over Northwest Bay of Bengal & adjoining coastal areas
of West Bengal. The associated cyclonic circulation extends upto midtropospheric levels. It is
likely to become more marked during next 24 hours.The Depression over Telangana and
adjoining areas of Marathwada & Vidarbha moved away westwards. The Monsoon trough at
mean sea level has become disorganized

Weather Warning for the Region During Next Five Days :•

Tuesday 28 Sep(Day-1) 1) Heavy to Very Heavy rainfall (07-20 cm) with Extremely Heavy rainfall (> 20 cm) very
likely to occur at one or two places over East & West Midnapore, Jhargram, South 24 Parganas districts of Gangetic
West Bengal. 2) Heavy to Very Heavy rainfall (07-20 cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over Kolkata,
Howrah, Hooghly & North 24 Parganas districts of Gangetic West Bengal. 3) Heavy rainfall (07-11 cm) likely to occur
at one or two places over East Burdwan, Bankura districts of Gangetic West Bengal. 4)Thunderstorm with lightning
likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of West Bengal.

Wednesday 29 Sep(Day-2) 1) Heavy to Very Heavy rainfall (07-20 cm) very likely to occur at one or two places
over West Midnapore, Jhargram, Bankura, Purulia districts of Gangetic West Bengal. 2) Heavy rainfall (07-11 cm)
likely to occur at one or two places over North & South 24 Parganas, East & West Burdwan, Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly
districts of Gangetic West Bengal. 3) Thunderstorm with lightning likely to occur at one or two places over the
districts of West Bengal.

Thursday 30 Sep(Day-3) 1) Heavy rainfall (07-11 cm) likely to occur at one or two places over Purulia, Bankura,
West Burdwan districts of Gangetic West Bengal. 2)Thunderstorm with lightning likely to occur at one or two places
over the districts of Gangetic West Bengal.

Friday 01 OCT (Day-4) Thunderstorm with lightning likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sub
Himalayan West Bengal.

Saturday 02 OCT (Day-5) 1) Heavy rainfall (07-11 cm) likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of
Sub Himalayan West Bengal. 2) Thunderstorm with lightning likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of
Sub Himalayan West Bengal.

Fisherman Warning for West Bengal Coast: Due to presence of Low Pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal,
wind speed is likely to exceed 45 kmph. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea from 28th to 29th
September, 2021.
