MGT JIMMY CHO

According to Fiedler, position power is the amount of legitimate, reward, and

coercive power a leader has by virtue of his or her position in an organization (Jones
and George, 2019). This shows that a good leader will make use of their position
power to persuade, remunerate, and show the workers why they are qualified to be
in charge. The position power that Jimmy Choo possesses is legitimate, thus he has
the authority by virtue of his position in an organization's hierarchy. Despite several
challenges, Jimmy Choo never wavered in his passion for growing the Jimmy Choo
brand and pursuing his goal of taking it to even greater heights. Jimmy Choo
successfully charted a new course for the business with his imaginative leadership
as it started to lose its new direction and gave the staff members in the organization
a new long-term vision.

Personal power comes from within the leader which is expert and referent
power. Expert power is when a leader has special knowledge, skills, and expertise
that they possess. In this case, Jimmy Choo has a profound impact on their overall
work environment. They create an atmosphere of trust and respect thus, increasing
employee morale in the workplace. For example, Jimmy Choo opened JCA London
Fashion Academy as a fashion school and incubator in Mayfair, London. He stated
that his vision for the academy is to teach students his knowledge of design. This
exemplifies the good characteristics of leadership by motivating others. In addition,
Choo also exhibits referent power which comes from employees' and coworkers'
respect, admiration, and loyalty. During a meeting, Choo arrived at the meeting
slightly delayed, dressed in an elegant suit, cap, and sunglasses yet he insisted on
apologizing numerous times before getting down to business. This shows that being
humble helps to build trust and facilitates learning, which are key aspects of
leadership and personal development.

To sum up, leadership is an integral part of human life as it is the ability to

influence individuals to achieve organizational goals. Leadership traits and skills
such as drive, motivation, honesty, integrity, extroversion, self-confidence, and
conceptual ability are all important in achieving both individual and organizational
goals. Leadership behaviour which is task and relations orientation undoubtedly
influences leader effectiveness. Position and personal power also play a significant
role in leadership. Thus, in addition to becoming well-known throughout the world of
shoes, Jimmy Choo has increased Malaysia's appeal. The business probably lacks
broad direction if Jimmy Choo, the leader, hasn't shown this expected level of
leadership.
