1.Installing the Hyper-V

We can be install HYPER V in our Pc there is window feature in Control panel which we have
to turn on and off.So by turning on and enable the hyper V window feature
Figure 1 Windows features

1.1.Enable the Hyper-v

Hyper-v can be enabled by clicking on the hyper-v option from the given list of features in
the windows features options and also enable hyper-v platform tools to use hyper-v
Manager

Figure 2 Enabling hyper-v

After anbling the hyper-v we have to restart the computer in order to install hyper-v
perfectly.

Figure 3 Restartig the computer

2. Hyper-V Interface
We can view the Hyper V by typing hyper V in search bar in the start menu. There would be
Hyper V manager which we have to use
Figure 4 Hyper-v Manager

On the left side there is name of Hyper V host which is your dekstop. In the right side,
you can see the menu which have all the list of configuration which we are going to
apply in Hyper V settings. And in the center there is are three options which actually
contains main virtual machine, details amd checkpoints
Figure 5 Options of Hyper-V

3.Options of Hyper-V
Quick Create is a Hyper-V installation wizard used for making the process of
VM creation easy and simple. You can select an OS, a VM name, and a virtual
switch to ensure communication with other VMs. Due to the small number of
configuration options, you can quickly create a Hyper-V VM in just a few clicks.

New allows you to create a Virtual Machine, Hard Disk, or Floppy Disk. If you
choose to create a VM or a virtual hard disk, the corresponding wizard should
open, providing you with a set of configuration options. As for the virtual
floppy disk, after selecting this option, you will be asked to type the file name
of a new floppy disk and specify the location where it will be stored.

Import Virtual Machine. The Import Virtual Machine Wizard will open, which
can be used to import a VM from a set of configuration files to a local server.

Hyper-V Settings. By clicking Hyper-V Settings, you will get access to the
settings for a Hyper-V host. Here, you can specify the default folder for storing
virtual hard disk files and VM configuration files; enable spanning NUMA
nodes so as to run more VMs at the same time; specify the number of
simultaneous storage migrations; allow enhanced session mode.

3.1.Settings In Hyper-V

Figure 7 Settings Of Hyper-V

There is an option of add hardware which enable us to add any

hardware controllers such as SCSI Network Adapters and Fibre
channel Firmware options helps us to choose the firmware
install on the v meg WINDOWS,UBUNTU,REDHAT etc.
Security options helps us to enable or disable secure
boot.Memory option Allow us to give certain amount of RAM
to the Vm.Processor option helps us to give number of
processors to the Vm.Network adapters can be used to create a
virtual switch (external, internal, or private), set up or remove
existing virtual switches, and configure media access control
(MAC) addresses.

In the Management section, you can change the VM name; enable or

disable Hyper-V Integration Services on a selected VM; modify the
configurations for checkpoints; specify the location for storing the
Smart Paging Files of this VM; set up Automatic Start Action and
Automatic Action.Start button starts a selected VM.Turn Off allows
to turn off the selected VMs.Shut Down is used to shut down the OS
within a selected VM of your choice.Save stops a VM and saves it in a
given state. During this, the VM CPU resources and memory can be
freely used by other VMs.Pause stops a VM and saves it in a given
state. However, during this, only the VM CPU resources can be used
by other VMs.Resume enables you to unpause a VM and resume all
operations.Reset initiates a system restart process without waiting
for a VM to save the progress and gracefully close
applications.Checkpoint creates a checkpoint of a selected
VM.Revert allows you to revert a VM to its previous
checkpoint.Move opens the wizard in which you can configure how
the virtual hard disks attached to a particular VM will be moved.
Here, you can choose the move type and move options and specify a
new location for VM files.

4.First method Virtual Machine in Hyper-V

Figure 8 Click on finish

In this method we will just create the virtual machine just by clicking on finish after this the
Virtual machine will be created but it will be configured defaultly which will cause some
errors after it is ctreated
Figure 9 Error for vdisk

So this will be the error after when the machine is created

4.1 Second Method of creating virtual machine

Figure 9 Method 1

We will just start by clicking on Next option to configure all all the settings to create a virtual
machine
Figure 10 Giving name
Here we will give the name and location of virtual machine keep it in mind while giving name
don’t use your own name or don’t use the name which is already created and while giving
location just keep it in any other drive rather than C drive because it will face some errors

Figure 11 Selectiing the generation

Now we are going to selec the generation Gen 1 will be used for 32 and 64 bit guest
operating system while Gen 2 support new virtualization features and it also support 64 bit
but don’t support 32 bit operating system
Figure 12 giving memory

Now we have to give the memory to the virtual machine. The default value is 1024 MB but
we can set it accordingly so as we saw that we have to give the location of Vm in any other
drive rather than C because it will take a lot of memory and errors will be faced
Figure 13 Connecting virtual hard disk

Now we are going to Connect the Virtual hard Disk there are three options to create one is
to create your own hard disk and the other is if u have already created you can use that hard
disk too and the other one is attaching a virtual hard disk by some outer source. We can set
the memory and location while creating our own hard disk and we have to keep in mind all
the things which we used while creating virtual machine
Figure 14 Insattling the Operating system

Now we have to choose the installation option for Virual machine to install.thre are also
options we can ctreate OS later or if we have Iso image in our Pc we can also use that to
ctreate operating System. And we can also install OS from network based installation server
Figure 15 Last step

By clicking on finish it will create the virtual machine.

Figure 16 creating virtual machine

Disk is getting created

Figure 17 Message for created

You will see this window after creating virtual machine succesfully
Figure 18 Start window

By click on start our virtual machine will be created.

4.2 Third Method of creating virtual machine

Figure 19 Disk type selection

First we have to select the Disk type while ctreating VM

• Dynamic: Grows to a maximum size, but will only take as much space as required.
• Fixed: Size of the disk is defined during configuration Regardless of how much is
actually stored on the virtual disk, it will take up the maximum amount on the host
disk
• Differencing: Stores the delta changes since the differencing disk was created - such
as installing an operating system into the parent disk and then creating differencing
disks to perform further configurations on
Figure 20 specify location and name

Here we will give the name and location of virtual machine keep it in mind while giving name
don’t use your own name or don’t use the name which is already created and while giving
location just keep it in any other drive rather than C drive because it will face some errors
Figure 21 configuring disk

Now we will give the memory to the disk which will be given according to our needs so
that’s the main reason we don’t keep the VM in c drive because it consumes a lot of memory
So we have to put it in Some other drive
Figure 22 Summary for virtual disk

By clicking on Finish our Vm will be created

Figure 83 Message when virtual machine creats

This interface will come after creating VM
