My first training started last September and ended in November. Three months
passed by just like that. There are several lessons I learned; I went through some hurdles;
there are days when I don't feel like going to my training; there are days when I am hyped up
to do everything I can; and certainly there are moments when I feel happiness. I was really
nervous the moment I stepped into the building because I was overwhelmed by the presence
of employees. In my mind, I was just a student trainee, and they are professionals, which is
why it wasn't easy for me to feel comfortable around them. But as time went on and days and
weeks passed, I finally felt stable working on my task without being conscious. I still
remember when my supervisor told me to be proactive because they were so busy with their
own work they wouldn't notice me, so whenever I finished my task, I asked if there was more
work I could do to keep myself busy and learn a new type of job in their organization. I feel
proud of myself because I accomplished the tasks they gave me. At first, it might be confusing
for me to do a new job, but the team really taught me well, and so I learned. As an introvert, it
was harder mentally than physically. I didn't mind the heavy boxes or the amount of files they
needed me to sort, but when it came to socializing with other employees, I become timid. That
was one of the things that I wanted to improve while I was training for industrial, but it was the
hardest to overcome because my job requires a lot of attention and needs to be detailed. This
is why I didn't have the time to have fun with my supervisors, but we talked about the simple
facts about me and my background. I am really grateful that I have supportive supervisors;
they really tried their best to make me comfortable. I also got to know two new friends; they
also work as interns in the company. Lunch breaks became more fun because of them. For
one hour, we got to be students who talked about our experiences at each school we
attended. We also bond over our hobbies. After finishing my internship in industrial, I think I
know what to do or what to improve in my clinical training next year. I will continue to grow
and learn to be able to prepare for my career in the future. Graduation is near, and while I'm
still at RTU, I will try my best to achieve my dreams and goals.
