Lick Granuloma
Overview
A Labrador male suffering from lick granuloma/lick dermatitis
also known as acral lick dermatitis brought to clinic.
This condition occurs when a dog obsessively licks at an area,
often on a lower limb, most commonly the wrist or carpal joint
of the front limb. These dogs find a spot to lick and start a cycle
of self-trauma, inflammation, and infection. This condition is
thought to be both physical and psychological in nature.

Diagnosis
By visual examination and microscopic examination of skin
scrapping.

Treatment
ASD of the wound. E-Collar Applied to
Provat. G ointment avoid the licking.
Clysin-T lotion
Diabetes
Overview
A pointer male was brought to clinic with the complaint
of polyuria, weight loss and weakness.

Diagnosis
A confirmatory diagnosis of hyperglycemia was made with
the measurement of blood glucose by glucometer test.
Glucometer readings were taken on alternate days and
there was a persistant hyperglycemia.

Normal Blood Glucose Level in Dog = 60-125 mg/dL

Cataract
Overview
A male German Shepherd was brought to the clinic with
the sign of corneal opacity as a cause of vision loss.

Diagnosis
On visual examination with the help of a bright
light it seemed as Catarct.
Cataract can be caused as a result of multiple ailments
i.e genetic mutation (hereditary), daibetes, liver damage
in CIH so we have to rule out the root cause as well
with the help of diagnostic tests like blood profiling,
LFTs/RFTs etc.

Tab. Oculuvit
Mediphakol Eye Drops
Liver Tonics and Detoxificants
Feline Infectious Peritonitis
Overview
A female cat was brought to the clinic with signs of
Fever, Ascites, Vomit, Jaundice, Stunted Growth and
Swollen Lymph Nodes.

Diagnosis
A confirmatory diagnosis for FIP was made by
performing the following tests
1- FIP rapid kit test
2- LFT/RFT
3- Abdominal ultrasound

Egg white in diet
Myiasis
Overview
A cat was brought to the clinic with a chronic
wound filled with maggots.
Maggot infestation is also known as myiasis, fly
strike, or simply strike. House flies, bot flies,
blow flies, bottle flies, and flesh flies lay eggs in
skin wounds of any animal (including a cat) that
has an infected skin wound.

Diagnosis
By visual examination

Treatment
Maggots were removed manually by adding
seguvan solution into the wound.
ASD of the wound.
Alluminium spray for fly repulsion.
Antibiotic for controlling secondary
infection. E-Collar applied.
Ear Taping
Overview
Basically a cosmetic procedure for beautifying the
general appearance of the pet. The soft cartillage
of the auricle pinna.
So this was a GSD female brought at the clinic
for the ear taping.

Procedure
Firm adhesive tapes were applied over the both ears
with standing wooden sticks vertically in the middle
aspect of the lateral side of the pinna.
The tapes are recommended to be regulary changed at the
interval of 8-10 days until the ears are shapened as desired.

Fixation Of Mandibular
Symphiseal Separation
Overview
A male cat was presented with the complaint of hyporexia,
improper mastication and discomfort.

Diagnosis
On physical palpation and radiological examination, the condition
was diagnosed as the fracture of mandibular symphisis which
was to be apposed surgically.

Procedure
The separated mandible was fixed (apposed) with
the aid of a cerclage wire trans-orally and tied
firmly by twisting at the ventral aspect of the mouth.

Post-Op Care
Antibiotic + Painkiller
Enucleation (Eye Ball)
Overview
A cat was presented with a severe infection in the eyeball,
eye ball was inflammed with purulent discharge.
Medicinal therapy had a poor prognosis so removal of
whole eyeball was recommended.

Diagnosis
On visual examination and by aspiration of the abscess.

Procedure
Eyeball was incised and removed completely
with the electrocautery.
Sterile gauze soaked in tincture iodine was placed into
the cavity (removed after 2-3 days and changed daily).

Post-Op Care
Antibiotic + Painkiller
Daily ASD of the cavity.
E-Collar aapplied to avoid scratching/pulling.
Tail Docking
Overview
This was a rottweiler presented for the cosmetic
surgery of tail i.e tail docking.

Procedure
Semilunar flap technique was used to incise and remove
the desired part of the pet’s tail.

Post-Op Care
Asd of the wound twice a day
Antibiotic
Painkiller
