Dear Brad and Theo,
I was delighted to hear of your Engagement! I am so happy for you, and
wishing you the very best Life has to offer. CONGRATULATIONS! I am
envious that you get to live in beautiful New Zealand, one of my favourite
countries I have had the opportunity to visit. (Americas Cup Race).
I look forward to meeting you Theo…. Cathy sent me some photos, and
you look like a really nice guy who will be able to keep Brad in line!…..
As you know it has been a crazy year. Rob came for a visit in January -
February, but his flight was cancelled and it took him 8 months to return to
Shanghai. 3 covid tests to try and coordinate a 72 hour window with flights
that didn t fly daily. He is back in Shanghai and enjoying his life and seems
rather safe there, but of coarse moms worry about things we have no
control over.
After he left in October, I was ready to sit in my bubble of one and wait for
the pandemic to disappear or vaccine which ever came first. After research
I made a plan with the information I had, and decided to fly to Dubai and
spend some time getting to know my grandson William. Negative Covid test,
In hand, along with N95 …..24 hrs. ….arrived in Dubai where I settled down
and became a Nanny/cook/Grama…..Time of a lifetime (3 months). My
grandson’s name is William Oliver Weston Sharpe. Oliver is named after
your grandma Olive….
I returned home a day before the $2000.00 hotel room for 3 days Entry
fee for Villain returning to Canada! Quarantined for 14 days, and then
back to the new normal….Received Pfizer vaccine last week, and so far so
good.

The Canucks are out with 16 players down with covid with 1000 new cases a
day here.
I talk to your Mom and Dad every morning just to connect with family, and
share their excitement of moving closer to Rocky Mountain House. They
certainly miss you, being so far away….but once things get back to normal,
they do have a direct flight from Yvr to Auckland. Easy peasy….and of
coarse you will be able to fly in and show Theo the highlights of our
country.
So, as you can see Covid is on my mind….sorry for boring you with this
stuff….but that is what happens when you get old……
Your mom said you are looking at Napier…..what a beautiful area. Ken lived
in Napier for a year in the 1970’s…searching for a country with perfect
weather…..His job was mowing the grass runway at Napier Airport. His
best friend was Ross Harvey, who owns Harvey Realty in New Zealand.
Some of the best wine are from New Zealand, and I am sure you have some
favourites that you can share !?
I will attach some photos that will introduce us to you Theo. And of coarse I
welcome you into our family with OPEN ARMS, and I would be honoured if
you call me Elaine…..(auntie)
