Apply over suitably prepared steel, galvanized steel and aluminum. Remove any oil or grease from
General
surface to be coated with clean rags soaked in Carboline Thinner #2.

Dry abrasive blasé to a near white metal finish in accordance with SSPC-SP 10-63 to a degree of
cleanliness in accordance with NACE #2 to obtain 25-50 micron blast profile.

Steel Galvanizing requires a roughened surface for optimum adhesion/performance of high build epoxies.
Remove any contaminants per SSPC SP1; ensure there are no chemical treatments that may
interfere with adhesion; and abrade the surface to establish a suitable roughness (typically 1 mil).
SSPC-SP7 or SP11 are acceptable methods.

Lightly sand or abrade to roughen and degloss the surface. Existing paint must attain a minimum
Previously Painted 3B rating in accordance with ASTM D3359 “X-Scribe” adhesion test. Prime with specific Carboline
Surfaces primers defined in Market Guides or as recommended by your StonCor ME sales representative.
Refer to the specific primer’s Product Data Sheet for detailed requirements of the specified primer.

MIXING & THINNING

Mixing Mix separately, then combine and mix Part A with Part B

Thinning Thin up to 10% by volume with Carboline Thinner #10

Ratio 4:1

Eight hours at 24°C and less at higher temperatures. Pot life ends when coating loses body and

Listed below are general equipment guidelines for the application of this product. Job site conditions may require modifications
to these guidelines to achieve the desired results.

Use adequate air volume for correct operation. Use 50% overlap with each pass of the gun. On
Spray Application irregular surfaces, coat the edges first, making an extra pass later. The following equipment has
been found suitable. However, equivalent equipment may be substituted.

Use a 3/8” minimum I.D. material hose. Hold gun 8-10 inches from the surface and at a right angle
Conventional Spray
to the surface.

Hold gun 12-14 inches from the surface and at a right angle to the surface.
Pump Ratio : 30:1 (min)
GPM Output : 2.5 (min)
Material Hose : 3/8" I.D. (min)
Airless Spray Tip Size : .013-.015"
Output PSI : 2200
Filter Size : 60 mesh

Teflon packings are recommended and available from the pump manufacturer.

Multiple coats may be required to obtain desired appearance, recommended dry film thickness and
Brush & Roller adequate hiding. Avoid excessive re- brushing or re-rolling. For best results, tie in within 10 minutes
at 75°F (24°C).

Maximum 32°C (90°F) 43°C (109°F) 38°C (100°F) 85%

This product simply requires the substrate temperature to be above the dew point. Condensation due to substrate temperatures
below the dew point can cause flash rusting on prepared steel and interfere with proper adhesion to the substrate. Special
application techniques may be required above or below normal application conditions.

Higher film thickness, insufficient ventilation or cooler temperatures will require longer cure times and could result in solvent
entrapment and premature failure. Excessive humidity or condensation on the surface during curing can interfere with the cure,
can cause discoloration and may result in a surface haze. Any haze or blush must be removed by water washing before re-coating.
During high humidity conditions, it is recommended that the application be done while temperatures are increasing. Maximum re-
coat/topcoat times are unlimited.

CLEANUP & SAFETY

Use Carboline Thinner #2 or #25. In case of spillage, absorb and dispose of in accordance with
Cleanup
local applicable regulations.

Read and follow all caution statements on this product data sheet and on the MSDS for this
Safety product. Employ normal workmanlike safety precautions. Hypersensitive persons should wear
protective clothing, gloves and use protective cream on face, hands and all exposed areas.

When used as a tank lining or in enclosed areas, thorough air circulation must be used during and
after application until the coating is cured. The ventilation system should be capable of preventing
Ventilation the solvent vapor concentration from reaching the lower explosion limit for the solvents used. User
should test and monitor exposure levels to insure all personnel are below guidelines. If not sure or if
not able to monitor levels, use MSHA/NIOSH approved supplied air respirator.

This product contains flammable solvents. Keep away from sparks and open flames. All electrical
equipment and installations should be made grounded in accordance with the National Electric
Caution
Code. In areas where explosion hazards exist, workmen should be required to use non- ferrous
tools and wear conductive and non-sparking shoes.
