The Summer School and Winter School at Somaiya Vidyavihar
University offer certification to Somaiya Vidyavihar University
students as well as other school and university students during the summer and winter break. Each course features live sessions,
workshops, discussions, tutorials, and self-paced learning materials, fostering interaction with faculty and peers. Experience a

Splendid Summer Schools
Somaiya Vidyavihar University leads the way in supporting students by hosting three consecutive weeks of Summer Schools in
May 2023, catering to 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students. The engaging six-day programmes, attended by students
from various educational boards like SSC & HSC, CBSE, and ICSE and cities like Mumbai, Pune, and Kolkata, aim to prepare them
for post-school challenges and opportunities.
These schools offer small class settings, expert faculty interaction, and on-campus experiences to enlighten students about higher
education programmes. Activities included orientation sessions, career counselling, expert lectures, industrial tours, and hands-on
experiences in design and innovation. Additional sessions covered personality development, media reporting, and equity markets,
providing students with a comprehensive edge as they transition into adulthood.
Organised by faculty members across university departments and Somaiya Vidyavihar University's admissions and outreach team,
these programmes featured Master Classes conducted by industry professionals. These initiatives are designed to equip students for
higher education and future endeavours, offering clarity on potential career paths.

Industrial visits play an important role in providing practical learning to students which redefines classroom experience. It helps
students experience corporate culture and learn from the industry's working model.
The Summer and Winter school takes learners on educational tours to various renowned industries like Bombay Stock Exchange,
Hospitals & The Times of India press . These visits help students learn about stock markets and their functioning which expose them
to actual field work, industrial environment and state-of-the-art science. Exposure to the press brought in immense learning on
planning, quality & manufacturing. This way students relate the classroom theories with actual industrial experiences at their

The Commerce & Business Studies programmes at Somaiya

About Summer & Winter School Initiative
Science
The Summer & Winter School initiative at Somaiya Vidyavihar University is the first of this kind of endeavour. It has been designed to
offer students a comprehensive understanding of the courses offered in Arts & Humanities, Science, Engineering and Commerce &
Business Studies. It offers an immersive experience of university life on campus, enabling students to engage with experienced
university faculty members and peers through structured co-curricular activities, college readiness workshops, and social events.
Eligibility Criteria
Students in classes 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th standard passing out from HSC / SSC / ICSE / CBSE / IB or equivalent Board in 2024 are
eligible to attend the programme.
(Candidates need to submit the application form online or by scanning the QR code)
Registration Fee
• ₹7,500 for the certificate course • Hostel fees ₹3,000/-
(Includes Lunch and Evening Snacks) (Dormitory - includes Breakfast and Dinner)
Accommodation
Limited hostel accommodation is available where students will be provided shared occupancy rooms in Ayurvihar Campus and
Somaiya Vidyavihar Campus in Mumbai. The accommodation facility is exclusive of the fee paid for the Summer School and Winter
School. Also, the fee does not include travel and other incidental expenses.
(Please note: Students must carry ID proof during the programme. For hostel accommodation - Students need to submit an
undertaking, NOC from parents and provide a fully vaccinated certificate.)
