• Medical ethics refers to the system of common to medical profession
and application of these value to practice of medicine.
Or
• It can refers as a discipline or methodology for considering the
implications of medical technology or treatment and what ought to
be.
Basic principle of medical ethics
1) Autonomy
Autonomy is usually expressed as the right of competent adults to make
informed decision about their own medical care. Its also include the
✓ right of self determination.
✓ requires decision making capacity (lack should be proven not assumed)
✓Right to information and self determination
✓Free and informed consent
✓Healthcare provider need to respect patient right to make choice about the
healthcare even if the healthcare providers do not agree with the patient
decision.

2) Beneficence
This is a core principle in medical ethics that guide partitioners to act as
they believe is in the best interest of the patient. Medical partitional
need to assist client in meeting all their need biological, physical and
social include;
✓To do good
✓Do only which benefit the patient
✓Care consideration competence
✓Obligation to preserve life , restore health ,relieve suffering and
maintain function

In beneficence the are 3 constraints on beneficence,

3) Non maleficence
This is an intention of a physical to avoid harm or injury the patient.
It also requires a healthcare personal to protect an individual who are
unable to protect themselves. It also consist of

4) Confidentiality
It refers to the duty to protect privileged information and to share entrusted
information responsibly. Anything stated to doctor or healthcare provider by
patient must remine confidential. The only times this principle must be
violated are;
• If the patient may indicate harm to themselves or others
• If the patient give permission for the information to be shared
Other than that the principle of confidentiality may

✓Maintain the confidentiality of all personal ,medical and treatment

5) Justice and social responsibility.
This principle assist the all persons (patients) will be treated fairly and
equitability

Is requires that healthcare provider be honest in their interaction with
patients. Traditional ethic hold that it is sim play wrong morally to lie to
people even if is expedient to do so, even if a better outcome will come

Conclusion
In conclusion, the principle of medical ethics are like a compass for
health care provider. It play a critical role in guiding health care
professional to provide the best care as possible. They guide them in
making ethics decision, ensuring that the patient are treated with
respect, fairness, and dignity. Autonomy ,beneficence, non maleficence
and justice, these principles lead the doctors can respect the patient
right promote there wellbeing , avoid harm and ensure fairness in
healthcare decisions and it also help to create a trusting and
compassion doctors patient relationships. This doctors patient
relationship leading to better healthcare outcomes.
