Quantra manufactures Quartz Surfaces using Breton stone technology and owns exclusive rights to
manufacture in India till March 2020 with its markets mainly located in North America and Europe.

Key Achievements

• Developed a quartz surface using special effect Aluminum pigment based on customer
requirement for the 2018 KBIS Launch which generated sales in excess of $ 1,000,000
USD.
• Conducted a case study to identify the bottle neck in the manufacturing process and
proposed the installation of an additional conveyor belt to decrease the distribution time
by 25 seconds per slab.
• Eliminated the voids in Miter lamination process by making an in-house adhesive through
the use of viscosity reduction agents at 42% of the cost of retail products.
• Conducted a case study to study the optimal slab size for cut to size projects and created
slabs of custom sizes apart from the standard sizes (Regular and Jumbo) offered by Breton
without needing assistance from Breton. This gave the company a significant edge in
terms of reducing wastage in the form of scrap pieces and improving product margin and
saved capital investment in the form of buying new machinery for the necessary
modifications. (May 2019)
• Proved the concept of manufacturing high resin formulations at 90-95% of the actual resin
in late 2019. Thereby reducing the manufacturing cost of the product.
• Implemented Nano Coatings for Engineered Stone in order to improve the hydrophobicity
of the stone as well as improving the resistance to normal household stains and
chemicals. (February 2020).
• Provided accurate costings and detailed standard operating procedures for various
processes during the course of the recent investigations on the Antidumping and
Countervailing Duties on quartz surfaces from India. This data was submitted to the
United States Department of Commerce for examination.
• Substituted TiO2 with an alternative raw material to reduce the pigment cost annually by
125,000 USD.
• Discovered a method to make joints look seamless during the fabrication process.
Job Responsibilities

o Providing formulations, technical assistance & process parameters for


manufacturing Quartz Surfaces.
o Monitoring the production runs, diagnosing malfunctions and instituting remedial
action to achieve maximum output by interacting with the Mechanical, Electrical and
Production Teams.
o Troubleshooting technological problems of the machinery by interacting with the
technology provider (Breton).
o Quality Control of the raw materials (Unsaturated Polyester Resin, Quartz, Pigments and
various other additives) by conducting tests on them as per the relevant standards.
o Conferring with suppliers of resins, quartz, pigments and other key additives during the
process of evaluation of materials.
o Developing products as per customer requests by creating engineered stone
designs on lab scale and upscaling it to plant level by carrying out trials.
o Managing the inventory of the raw materials on a day-to-day basis for the entire
molding department.
o Supervising the dry mixing operations for pigment preparation.
o Assisting the Senior Manager in planning the production and deciding the sequence of
colors to be produced based on customer requirements, raw material availability and
technical feasibility.
o Assisting the fabrication, polishing, packing teams whenever required by providing
technical assistance.
