The presence of technology has made living in the modern world easier and more
convenient. Technology, systems and gadgets, is the outcome of applying scientific knowledge.
Most likely, the development of technology began as a response to societal issues like
trading-related transportation. Technologies are improved and embraced over time, and the rate
at which they proliferate depends on affordability, utility, and accessibility.
Science and technology’s uses are always evolving, and this is known as technological
advancement. This has greatly impacted our lives by allowing us to stay current in real time.
Technology has significantly increased learning accessibility. In the past, books were few and
access to education was limited to a select group of people. However, information is now
accessible online. Additionally, group chats and collaborative tools like "Google Docs" make it
simple for us, students, to work together on assignments.
Medical doctors may now collect data more methodically because of scientific and
technical advancements. Moreover, it is now possible to research different therapeutic
modalities and find new tools for medical practice. For example, employing herbal remedies in
quack medicine is the conventional method of curing a sick individual. These days, medical
doctors can check a patient's temperature with a thermometer and even check their ECG with
an electrocardiogram machine—something I was able to test during my checkup. Furthermore,
technological advancements have made domestic activities easier, multitasking has become
commonplace. While vacuuming the house, some use a rice cooker to cook rice.
Notwithstanding the advantages that scientific and technical progress have brought to
humanity, these advancements have also turned into a threat to humankind. Technologies can
now perform tasks like packing in factories which has reduced the number of jobs available to
humans. A student’s work also is no longer credible since the rise of AI. Furthermore, addiction
has also become an issue since some people spend all of their time on dating websites, playing
video games online, and watching movies every night. Lastly, massive amounts of data can be
gathered and saved which may result in cybercrimes like hacking.
Generally speaking, societal issues and benefits have come with scientific and technical
growth. It is crucial that we, as students in particular, learn appropriate online conduct and
become responsible digital citizens. Understand the risks associated with utilizing the internet to
avoid situations such as having a sizable amount taken out of your bank account by unidentified
transactions. Finally, avoid being overly dependent on technology as its advancement may
become paramount in the future. If the advancement of technology is not reined in now, people
may lose their ability to govern things in the future.
