Today, I’ll take this chance to talk about Hoang, one of the smartest friends
that I have ever had. Back in high school, we used to hang out a lot until he
went abroad for further education.

Hoang was my classmate at high school and we got on quite well with each
other as we shared a big interest – music. However, when it came to studying,
everything turned out to be absolutely different. While I was doing really badly
at Physics, he was considered as the smartest student in this subject at my
school. He always stood first in all of the exams and no other students could
come close to him. Every time the teacher asked us to solve a Physics
question, it never took him more than 3 minutes to do the task. As he was
quick on the uptake and understood the subject so well, Hoang was always in
the teachers’ good books.

Not only did he perform well in Physics but he also did brilliantly at other
science subjects because of his intellectual ability. He was also a great
companion during my high school time. Thanks to his helpful guidance, I
finally managed to get better grades in Physics as well.

 * Hang out: /hæŋ aʊt/ - dành thời gian với ai đó, đi chơi với ai đó.
 * Intellectual: /ˌɪn.təˈlek.tʃu.əl/ - thông minh, trí tuệ.

2. Describe a story about space that you have read about or seen in a
film or on TV
You should say:
- When you read or saw the story
- What happened in the story
- Whether the story has any significance today
And explain how you felt about reading or seeing this story.

I am a person of varied taste when it comes to reading a book, watching a

movie and or listening to music. When it comes to movies, I prefer watching
sci-fi the most. Today I would like to talk about a Hollywood sci-fi movie “The
Martian” 2015. Mark was the lead character, which was played by Matt
Damon.

The plot of the movie is pretty simple yet it keeps you woven and intrigued.
Mark gets stranded on Mars because of a storm, his team thinks he is dead,
as the last telemetry from his suit indicates no sign of life. From here on his
journey of survival on Mars begins. Mark, being a botanist, improvises a
farm inside the habitat utilizing Martian soil fertilized with human waste. He
even produces water by extracting hydrogen from leftover rocket fuel, and
utilizes the stock of potatoes he had from his expedition to make a new crop
of potatoes for himself, as he was to stay there for another 4 years before help
could be sent to him.

The story-line has a huge significance with today’s age as we are eagerly
looking forward to colonizing Mars. Even NASA assisted the filmmakers with
depicting the science and technology in ‘The Martian’ since it saw the movie
as having the potential of promoting space exploration.

Right from my early childhood days, like any other kid of my age I was really
fascinated by outer space, the universe and the explorations made by the
astronauts. One thing which has always fascinated me, is the possibility of life
on the other planets. To an extent, the movie has answered this question and
also solidified my belief regarding the possibility of life beyond our planet
Earth.

3. Describe a good law in your country

You should say:
- What it is
- How you know about it
- What people think about this law
And explain why you think that it is a good law.

Today I’m going to talk about a law that I find very effective in my country. It is
a law that bans people from throwing garbage in public places.

A few days ago, I heard the news broadcast on channel VTV1 that this law
had been enacted after the Environmental Protection Conference last month.
It says that no one is allowed to litter in public sites, especially tourist
attractions. If anyone is caught throwing rubbish in such places, he or she
must pay a fine of about 1 million to 5 million Vietnamese Dong, which is a
huge amount of money. In case a person is reported to have broken the law,
the one who reported may receive a bonus of 5 million, of course, with proper
evidence only.

After this law came into force and some people were reported. The strict
punishment and strong criticism from the media as well have discouraged
citizens from throwing rubbish anywhere they want. Also, the stunning views
and natural landscapes of some famous tourist attractions in Vietnam have
been protected. There are also fewer complaints from tourists about so much
litter such as used cans and bottles appearing on the beach. And the most
important thing is that the citizens’ awareness of protecting the environment
has greatly improved.

I'd like to talk about my beloved grandmother, who is a remarkable person
when it comes to cooking for others. She's an embodiment of love and care
through her culinary skills, and her kitchen has always been the heart of our
family gatherings.

My grandmother is a petite, silver-haired lady with a warm smile that instantly

puts you at ease. She has spent a lifetime perfecting her culinary talents, and
her passion for cooking shines through in every dish she prepares.

What makes her special is her unwavering desire to cook for others. She
firmly believes that food is a way to bring people together and show affection.
Whenever there's a family event or a visit from relatives, my grandmother
takes charge of the kitchen. She skillfully blends generations-old family
recipes with her own creative touches, ensuring that every meal is a
masterpiece.

Her meals are not just about flavors but also about creating memories. She
remembers each family member's favorite dishes and always prepares them
with love. When we gather around the dining table, the aroma of her dishes
fills the room, and the food is not just delicious but a testament to her love
and dedication.

In conclusion, my grandmother's passion for cooking and her genuine desire

to feed and nurture our family have made her not just a fantastic cook but also

a symbol of love, unity, and cherished memories for our family. She truly

5. Describe an important plant that grows in your country

You should say:
- What the plant is
- How you know it
- Why it is important
And explain how much you like the plant.
Today I am going to tell you about a plant that I would prefer to grow once in
my life. It is the rice plant – one of the most crucial plants in Vietnam.

Actually I have been familiar with rice grains ever since I was a preschooler.
It is unforgettable how fascinated I was to discover how such a slender plant
could produce so many rice grains that provide our population with a healthy
diet. It is thin with long green leaves and the seeds turn yellow when they’re
ready to be harvested. A small field is an ideal place to plant this kind of
plant, as long as it supplies enough water for the plant development.

I prefer to plant rice for several reasons. Firstly, the rice plant is crucial to
Vietnamese communities in various ways. Rice has become indispensable in
Vietnamese meals and it reminds me about the past of our country when there
was no rice to live on. Secondly, I realize that the rice plant is the important
key to our country’s development. Taking economic contribution into
consideration, rice is even more important as millions of Vietnamese citizens
earn their living by means of rice cultivation. As a matter of fact, rice is
Vietnam’s leading export, which brings about huge annual revenues for the
government.

All in all, it seems crazy but I’m really fond of growing rice plants in the future.

You should say :
- What kind of vehicle it is
- How much it will cost
- What you will mainly use it for
And explain why you want to buy this vehicle
The vehicle that I would like to buy is a Lexus. It’s a renowned brand for luxury
and comfort, and I have always admired this brand for its attention to detail
and commitment to quality.

I had an opportunity to experience Lexus during an interpreter trip. I am

particularly drawn to Lexus because of its elegant design and superior
performance. The interiors are plush and comfortable, and the exteriors are
sleek and stylish. Moreover, Lexus vehicles are equipped with advanced
technology and safety features, which add to their appeal.

I plan to use this vehicle for commuting to work. Even though the traffic
conditions in Ho Chi Minh City are quite challenging, sitting in the car is cool,
comfortable and safe. I can enjoy music and air conditioning. In addition, I
would use it for long drives during weekends. I plan to take my children to the
countryside more regularly to help them experience rural life.

The main reason why I want to buy a Lexus is because it is renowned for its
durability. I do not need to worry much about faults or repairs. I can use it for
many years which can save a lot of time and money as the quality of Lexus is
exceptional. Moreover, a Lexus car is a symbol of success and achievement,
and I believe that I have worked hard and deserve to reward myself with a

- Who this child was
- When you spent time with this child
- What you did together
And how you felt about it
One memorable occasion when I spent time with a young child was during a
family gathering last summer. My cousin's three-year-old daughter, Ly, was the
center of attention that day. As soon as I arrived, Ly's eyes lit up with
excitement, and she reached out her tiny hand, eager to explore the world
around her.

I decided to take her to a nearby park where we could enjoy some quality time
together. As we strolled hand in hand, I couldn't help but marvel at her
curiosity and boundless energy. We played on the swings, went down the
slides, and even had a mini picnic on a cozy blanket under a shady tree.
Watching her giggles and contagious laughter filled me with joy.

During our time together, I realized how much patience and creativity were
required when engaging with a young child. I would make up stories, sing
nursery rhymes, and encourage her to express herself through drawing and
painting. We shared snacks and engaged in imaginative play, pretending to be
characters from her favorite cartoon.

Interacting with Ly reminded me of the simplicity and innocence of childhood.

Her pure and unfiltered perspective on the world around her was refreshing. It
was a truly heartwarming experience, and I cherished every moment we spent
together, creating a beautiful bond that I will always treasure.

8. Describe a new law you would like to implement in your country

You should say:
- What law it would be
- Would it be easy to introduce such a new law
- Would it be popular
And explain what the benefits of such a new law would be.

IELTS KIEN NGUYEN HOTLINE : 0559887869

10
Today I’m gonna share with you about a law that you would like to implement
to transform my neighborhood.

This law would be to take poor parents who conduct misbehaviors to their
children, such as cursing or domestic violence, to court. They would be held
accountable for their improper behaviors to their children and punished
accordingly. They would be deprived of being parents, and their children
would be sent to childcare centers if their children suffer both physically and
psychologically.

I suppose enacting this law would be very challenging as in my society, an

Asian culture, educating children has been disregarded for hundreds of years.
Raising a child is usually confined to how to feed them and send them to
reputational schools, which has resulted in several overprotected children.
But parents are unaware that they should set good examples for their children.
If they can’t manage their emotions, for example, getting angry and venting
their anger on their children, they’re likely to copy such bad behaviors.

It would take ages for this law to become popular as the traditional yet
inappropriate way of communicating with children has ingrained in Vietnamese
parents for hundreds of years. But it would eventually become prevalent in
my society as people come to realize the harm of wrong ways of educating
children.

9. Describe a depression period you faced/an important journey that was

delayed
You should say
- When it was

- How it was delayed
And how you felt about it.
One of the most memorable journeys that I experienced was a trip to Paris,
which unfortunately faced significant delays. I had carefully planned for

months, eager to visit iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre
Museum. However, upon arriving at the airport, I received the disheartening
news that my flight was delayed due to unforeseen technical issues with the
aircraft.

Initially, I felt frustrated and anxious, as the delay meant missing out on
several planned activities and reservations. The airline provided minimal
information, leaving passengers in a state of uncertainty. Hours turned into an
entire day as we awaited updates on the flight's status. To make matters
worse, communication from the airline was sporadic, exacerbating the
situation.

Despite the setbacks, the experience taught me patience and adaptability. I

utilized the extra time to engage with fellow passengers, forming unexpected
friendships. We shared travel stories, exchanged recommendations, and even
devised a contingency plan for our Paris adventure upon arrival. Eventually,
after a grueling wait, we boarded a replacement flight.

Although the delay tested my resilience, the journey itself became an

adventure filled with camaraderie and shared experiences. It highlighted
travel's unpredictability and the need to stay positive during challenges. Upon
reaching Paris, the delayed journey only enriched my appreciation for the
city's beauty and the journey's unexpected lessons.

10. Describe a time you receive money as a gift

You should say:
- When did you receive it?
- What did you do with it?
- How did you feel about it?
A few years ago, I received a surprise gift from a family member, which was a
significant amount of money. It was a very unexpected gift and I was really
grateful for it. At first, I was a little confused about what to do with the money,
but after giving it some thought, I decided to use it to travel to a place that I
had always wanted to visit.

I had always dreamed of visiting Japan and exploring the culture, food and
sights of the country. However, the cost of the trip had always been a barrier.
But with the money I received as a gift, I realized that I could finally make my
dream come true.

I spent several weeks researching different travel options and planning my

itinerary, and I ended up taking a two-week trip to Japan. During my time
there, I had an amazing experience and was able to immerse myself in the
local culture, try new foods, visit famous landmarks, and meet new people.

The money I received as a gift not only made my dream trip possible, but it
also allowed me to create new memories that I will cherish for a lifetime. It was
a generous and thoughtful gift that gave me an unforgettable experience,
and I am forever grateful for it.

In addition to allowing me to travel to Japan, the money also gave me the

opportunity to reflect on the value of experiences over material
possessions. While receiving money as a gift can be nice, it's the memories
and experiences that are truly valuable in the long run. This experience has
made me appreciate the importance of creating memories and experiences
with loved ones, rather than just accumulating possessions.

11. Describe a risk you have taken which had a positive result
You should say:
- What it was?
- What the result was?
- How you felt about it?
I would like to talk about a risk that I took during my final exam in art class a
few years ago. It was an important test, and I had prepared thoroughly for it.
However, I made a huge mistake of forgetting my drawing tools at home, and I
only had 30 minutes left to finish my project. At first, I was panicking and didn't
know what to do. Then I decided to take a risk and try to complete my artwork
using only a pencil and a piece of paper.

13
I quickly started sketching, and to my surprise, the creative ideas started
flowing. I had to improvise a lot, and I had to be resourceful with the limited
tools I had. I took a significant risk in submitting an incomplete art piece, but I
knew that it was the best that I could do in that situation. To my surprise, my
teacher was impressed by my work and the creativity I displayed in such a
short amount of time. I received a good grade for my project, and it was a
great feeling to know that my risk-taking paid off.

In conclusion, taking risks can be daunting, but it can also lead to positive
outcomes. My experience taught me that when faced with challenges, it's
important to think outside the box and be resourceful. It's not about having
all the tools or resources, but rather, it's about how we use them to achieve
our goals.

12. Describe a kind of climate you would like to live in

You should say:
- what the climate is like
- how different it is from your current climate
- why you would like to live in that kind of climate
I would love to live in a climate similar to that of Dalat, Vietnam. This place is
known for its year-round cool weather and is one of the most popular tourist
spots in southern Vietnam because of this typical weather. I have visited Dalat
several times, and each time I go to this nice and cool place, I’m really taken
with the weather and the spectacular scenery.

The average temperature there is around a comfortable 15-24 degrees

Celsius, which contrasts sharply with the tropical climate of Ho Chi Minh City
(HCMC), where I currently reside. In HCMC, the heat can be quite
overwhelming, especially during the peak of summer when temperatures
frequently soar above 30 degrees Celsius with high humidity.

Living in a climate like Dalat’s would be ideal for several reasons. Firstly, the
cooler weather is perfect for outdoor activities all year round, such as hiking,
gardening, and simply enjoying nature walks, without the discomfort of
extreme heat or humidity. The gentler climate would also be better for my
health, as the air is not only cooler and cleaner but also helps avoid
dehydration and heat exhaustion. I find that I am more productive and
energetic when the weather is cooler.

13. Describe a natural talent you want to improve

You should say
- What is it?
- When did you discover it?
- How do you want to improve it?
- And how do you feel about it?
I have always had a predilection toward music and the discussion on music
is enough to enchant me. I have always taken immense pleasure in music
and I feel it rivets and relieves you, overall the best combination of stress
buster and mood enhancer. I don’t know if I am good enough at it to call it a
talent, however, I have a profound passion for music.

I started taking interest in music for as long as I remember. As to my parents, I

used to groove to the beats and used to blabber the lyrics in gibberish when
I was a kid and they knew that I have an inclination toward singing and
music, at large. I even used to cry when I used to listen to a melancholic
song or something that was sentimental at such a young age. Growing up, the
passion kept blooming and I started taking part in a plethora of contests
where I either used to win or learn something.

I want to refine this inclination and make my passion my profession now. I

need to work on its improvement and need to finetune it as much as I can. I
am looking forward to getting enrolled in a music institute that can provide me
with one on one training and personalized sessions. I am quite certain that this
would help grow my skills and passion for music.

14. Describe a natural phenomenon

You should say :
- What kind of phenomenon it was
- Where it happened
- What the consequences were
And why you remember it.

When it comes to catastrophes, floods must be the topic for heated debates
annually in Vietnam since it happens each year in the middle part of the
country and devastates everything on its way.

As far as I’m concerned, Vietnam is positioned in the tropical region and right
adjacent to the sea, so storms are the norm, and they usually come alongside
typhoons and floods. In rainy seasons, some provinces in the middle part of
Vietnam have to suffer from those disasters which seriously destroy their
home, kill animals or even humans. There is nothing which can measure the
loss we always have to endure during the floods. And one more threatening
thing adding to this phenomenon is the deforestation which results in the great
amount of water rushing towards villages and sweeping everything out to the
sea.

After each storm comes, floods leave local people in pain, loss and sufferings.
To be more exact, thousands of houses are ruined or even vanish, cattle and
poultry perish, and numerous people are deceased. To be honest, the
consequences are immeasurable and mediocre for anyone to confront, so
help is always needed.

15. Describe an astronomy event you saw
You should say:
- what the event was
- when and where you saw it
- who you were with
and explain how you felt about this event.

One of the most unforgettable astronomy events I have seen was a solar
eclipse. It happened when I was playing alone in the front yard. That day, my
father had gone to work, so it was just my mother and me at home.

It was a bright and sunny morning, but suddenly it became dark as if it were
very late in the evening. My mother explained that we were experiencing a
solar eclipse, where the moon passes between the Earth and the sun,
covering the sun for a little while. We didn’t have special glasses to view the
eclipse, so we used a bowl of water to look at it because we had heard that
looking at it with the naked eye could hurt our eyes.

I felt excitement to see the day turn to night so quickly. This unusual event
rarely happens in our lives. In addition, I felt very lucky to have experienced
such a rare and beautiful event with my mother. It was not just about seeing
the eclipse but also about spending time with her and learning new things. It
made me realize how wonderful and mysterious the world is.

store and asked me to pick the latest model. She hoped this gadget help me
gradually master this language thanks to the applications on it.

It is a smart phone called Iphone 4, which was a quite state-of-the-art device

at that time. It is in black, has a 4 inch touch screen and a home button and is
quite portable to me. Thanks to this phone, I could widen my lexical
resources because there were a huge number of learning applications which
come in handy. I found its definition and pronunciation through some offline
dictionaries like T-flat or Oxford. It was also the unique way for me to entertain
myself after hard-studying days at school.

But you know, wear and tear is an indispensable theory with all objects and
my phone is not an exception. It processes information slower and becomes
outdated now. Therefore, I really want to replace it by a new phone with a
larger screen to watch movies or type messages easier. Furthermore, the
alternative phone should also have a higher memory capacity for me to store
all images and videos I take or record. That’s all I need.

All in all, I think I will start living on a tight budget from now on and save
money for a better phone as soon as possible.

One person I admire for their ability to purchase items at lower prices is my
aunt, Mrs. Linh. I've observed her knack for finding great deals and
negotiating prices ever since I was a child.

My aunt has a remarkable talent for bargaining and haggling, which she
developed through years of practice and experience. Whether she's shopping
at local markets or upscale stores, she always manages to secure significant
discounts and savings. Her secret lies in her sharp eye for quality and her
confidence in negotiating for better prices.

I remember accompanying my aunt to the market one day, and I was amazed
at how she effortlessly persuaded vendors to lower their prices. She
employed a combination of charm, persistence, and strategic bargaining
tactics to achieve her desired outcome. Witnessing her skills in action was
not only impressive but also educational.

Mrs. Linh's ability to buy things at lower prices is not only practical but also
significant in today's economy, where the cost of living continues to rise. Her
savvy shopping habits allow her to stretch her budget further and provide for
our family's needs without overspending. Moreover, her frugal mindset

It’s located in District 1 – right in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. The church is
surrounded by other important structures such as Reunification Palace on the
right, HCM Post Office on the left and at the back Diamond Plaza - a great
place for shopping. To get there is quite easy. It’s a 5-minute-walk from here.

Even though there are plenty of churches around here, this one is quite
unique for it was built by French colonizers before they left Vietnam.

The architecture of Notre Dame is not only impressive but also unique. It’s
quite large. It was built out of bricks and concrete. Its distinctive shape
makes it look like a whole lot of mushroom to me. The church comprises a
rectangular building with 2 towers at the sides of the entrance, along with the
statue of Mother Maria in front. Because the building is quite old, certain parts
of it have been reconstructed time and again.

You should say :

- What does this person encourage you to do?
- How did this person help?
And explain why this encouragement helps you to achieve the goal.
I believe that everyone has that special person who always supports and
encourages you to become better. For me, that person is my mum.

I was pretty good at school but somehow that didn’t translate to a good
performance at work, at least when I first started working. I thought it was
because I hadn’t found the true calling, that one line of a profession that really
suits me.

So, there was a period of time during which I changed jobs rather frequently.
You know, it’s not easy being a newbie in a field, you have to start from
scratch, work hard but earn little. During this whole time, my mum was
nothing but supportive, she didn’t even complain at all. And I am really
thankful for that, because in my country when you’ve graduated from college
you’re expected to have a stable job and support your family immediately. My

20. Describe your daily routine that you enjoy

You should say:
- What it is
- Where and when you do it
- Who you do it with
And explain why you enjoy it

One daily routine that I thoroughly enjoy is my evening stroll in the park. It has
become a cherished part of my day, bringing relaxation and contentment to
my hectic schedule. I usually do this routine in a nearby park in my
neighborhood, which is just a short walk from my house.

I prefer to take this leisurely stroll in the early evening when the sun begins to
set, and the weather becomes cooler. It's a perfect time to unwind and
connect with nature after a long day of studying and activities. Sometimes, I
go alone to have some personal time for self-reflection and peace of mind.
Other times, I invite a close friend or family member to join me, and we
engage in pleasant conversations while appreciating the beauty of the
surroundings.

As I walk through the winding pathways, I take in the natural scenery and
listen to the calming sounds of birds chirping and leaves rustling in the breeze.
It helps me unwind and release any pent-up stress from the day. Moreover,
this daily routine gives me the opportunity to stay active and embrace a
healthy lifestyle, which is essential for my overall well-being.

Beyond the physical benefits, my evening stroll allows me to clear my mind

and be present in the moment. It serves as a form of meditation, helping me
reflect on the day's events and set positive intentions for the days ahead. The
time spent in the park brings a sense of tranquility and contentment, making
me feel more grounded and appreciative of life's simple pleasures.

You should say:

- What it is like
- What you enjoy doing there
And explain why you feel relaxed at this place.

One of my favorite places in my house where I can relax is my bedroom. As

soon as I enter the room, I feel a sense of calmness and serenity that helps
me to unwind and de-stress. The walls of my bedroom are painted in a
soothing shade of blue that reminds me of the ocean and the sky. I have a
large, comfortable bed with fluffy pillows and a cozy duvet that feels like a
warm hug.

In addition to my bed, there's a comfortable armchair near the window that

overlooks a lush green garden. I love to sit in the armchair, especially on
sunny days, and soak up the warmth of the sun while enjoying a good book.
The natural light that floods into the room creates a tranquil atmosphere that
helps me to feel more relaxed and at ease.

Another feature of my bedroom that I love is the soft lighting. I have a lamp on
my bedside table that emits a warm, golden glow, creating a cozy and inviting
ambiance. I also have some scented candles that I light occasionally, which
adds to the calming effect of the room.

Overall, my bedroom is my sanctuary where I can escape the stresses of the

book, take a nap, or simply sit and reflect. I feel lucky to have a space that
brings me so much peace and contentment.

You should say:
- What it is
- How you would like to learn it
- Where you would like to learn it
- Why you would like to learn it
And explain whether it’s difficult to learn it

I’d like to talk about cooking which I believe to be of utmost significance for my
future. There are many factors that can support my claim.

First, as is common knowledge, food is essential for survival. It is a basic need

as a result.

Second, I enjoy cooking and it makes me happy when I try to make

something, even when I fail. However, I also want to pursue higher education
abroad. No one who is truly very close to my heart is therefore present where I
want to go. As a result, nobody will prepare any food for me other than my
mother.

In addition, my parents have always insisted that eating a home-cooked meal

is preferable to eating fast food because it provides us with more nutrition,
which guards against diseases like obesity, hypertension, heart attacks,
and other conditions. Since I am also health-conscious, I always give priority
to a healthy diet over fatty or unhealthy foods.

The good news is that I can learn this skill from a variety of sources. I’m sure
my mother, who is a talented cook, will teach me the fundamentals of this
activity. I can learn more about this skill without it with the aid of social media
platforms like YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and given that it is a reliable source
of income and enables me to live comfortably, this skill may prove to be very
helpful in the future.

23. Describe a historical period/moment you would like to learn more

about
You should say:
- when it happened
- what you are interested in
- what you know about it
and why you would like to know more.

A time in history that I would like to know more about is the medieval period,
or the middle ages, as it's also referred to. I think this period in history was
from around the 5th century to the 15th century, or something along those
lines anyway. What I am mainly interested in is the way that people lived in
those times, because it was a time well before any kind of modern technology
was around, there were no cars, no electricity, no modern appliances, and
probably not even many shops either. It was a time of kings and queens, and
knights in shining armor, when people rode on horseback, or probably walked
if you were only a lowly peasant, which probably most people were. I think life
was quite harsh back then, and most people lived on the land, farming to
survive. And if their crops weren’t successful, then starvation was a real
possibility. I think there was a 50% chance that a child would make it to be 1
year old. I don’t really know much at all about this period in history, except for
what I have seen in films, which is probably not a very accurate portrayal of
life back then.

But apart from being a harsh life, and the average life expectancy being only
around 30-35 years-old, in some way I am still fascinated about what it was
like to live back then. I mean, I know it was a hard life if you were only a poor
peasant, but there is still something quite attractive to me about the simple life,
before modern technology, before mobile phones, and cars, and electricity.
Maybe if you were someone in the upper classes of society, life may not have
been so bad, except for when your village or country was unexpectedly
invaded, and everybody was killed, I guess that wouldn’t have been so fun. I
guess I just feel like they were living such a raw life back then, just people
struggling against the elements of nature and life, faced with so much
hardship and adversity. Not like today, where people are obsessed with how

24. Describe an indoor or outdoor place where it was easy for you to
study
You should say :
- Which is the place?
- How much time do you study there?
- Why do you like it?

Every child studies in the school or college, tuitions, and at their homes. There
are many places one can choose to study after class to learn and revise. I
personally prefer to study indoors due to various reasons. The best place
where I can study is a library.

There is a huge library near my house. The place is enormous and is divided
into two separate reading halls that can accommodate more than five
hundred people at a time. The library houses a large collection of books on
every subject along with daily newspapers and magazines from all the leading
publications. The building has a lot of amenities such as washrooms, air
conditioning, soundproof walls, and a cafeteria amongst other facilities. I
visited here for the first time with my elder sister when I was in the eighth
standard. After that, I became a regular visitor due to its close proximity and
ease of access. It was the most favorable place for borrowing books and
studying.

It offers an affordable membership renewable on a yearly basis. I have availed

this membership and spend two hours each day in the library to finish my
homework amongst other things. Not only do I complete my assignments and
browse the internet, but also read the newspapers, novels and other works of
fiction. I feel comfortable studying here because of the ambience of the
place. It is a very peaceful and quiet place with extensive study material. I can
completely concentrate on my studies without being distracted by any sort of
noise.

25. Describe an interesting place in your country that not many people
visit
You should say:
- where it is
- how you know it
- what special features it has
and explain why you think it is interesting

Well, I'd love to share an interesting place in my country, Vietnam, called

Sapa. Sapa is a breathtaking town located in the northern part of Vietnam,
nestled in the Hoàng Liên Sơn mountain range.

I first heard about Sapa from fellow travelers and through social media. Its
reputation for stunning landscapes and unique cultural experiences intrigued
me, and I decided to visit.
What makes Sapa truly special is its mesmerizing scenery. The town is
surrounded by terraced rice fields that cascade down the mountainsides.
The vibrant green fields in the summer and the golden hues of ripe rice in the
autumn create a picturesque landscape that's unlike anything else in Vietnam.
The Hoàng Liên Son mountain range, including Fansipan, the highest peak in
Indochina, adds to the grandeur of the scenery.

Sapa is also home to various ethnic minority groups, including the H'mong,
Dao, and Tay people. Their distinct cultures, colorful clothing, and warm
hospitality make Sapa a culturally rich destination. Visitors have the
opportunity to interact with these communities, learn about their traditions, and
even stay in homestays to immerse themselves in the local way of life.

What I find most interesting about Sapa is the perfect blend of natural beauty
and cultural diversity. The town offers a range of activities, from trekking
through the rice terraces to visiting local markets. The H'mong and Red Dao
markets, in particular, showcase traditional handicrafts and locally made
products. The chance to witness the daily life of these ethnic groups and be
part of their festivals and ceremonies is a unique experience.

You should say :
- what sort of person this is
- where you first met him/her
- why you met him/her
and explain why you ‘re happy to know him/her.

I’m going to talk about one of the most incredible people that I’ve had the
privilege to know and love, and that’s my love Ms. Taylor Swift.

As you may or may not know, Taylor is one of the most impactful artists of the
21st century. She has been hailed as a lyrical prodigy, who is loved by
millions around the globe, including me. Taylor is indisputably the most
well-rounded artist of this generation. She can compose a song within a
minutes, produces her own music and her stage presence is absolutely
captivating.

I was incredibly lucky to have been chosen as one of the few fans who were
invited backstage at the 2018 Reputation Stadium Tour in Tokyo. This was
back in 2018, so I’ve known her for 3 years now. So long story short, Andrea –
Taylor’s mother was the one going around the stadium picking random fans for
the meet-and-greet after the show ended, and I was one of them. I, together
with a group of fans, we lined up to have a greeting with Taylor.

When I finally met her in person, I was so thrilled and nervous at the same
time that I felt like my heart is beating out of my chest. But Taylor was so
welcoming. She greeted me with a hug that lasted a full 10 seconds. I guess
she could tell how nervous I was and tried to calm me down. We exchanged

You should say:
- Where it is located
- What it looks like
- When you first went there
And explain why you think this place has a beautiful environment/ why you
think is naturally beautiful

Today I’d like to tell you about a natural beauty in Vietnam that has become
one of the most popular destinations in the world

It’s Halong bay- a complex of beach and bay in Southern Vietnam that has
been recognized as the world heritage by UNESCO. Every year, it attracts
millions of tourists from all over the world and generates income for local
people through several tourism services such as accommodation and luxury
cruise.

I went there with my family last summer vacation. We chose this place after a
lot of thorough research. We stayed at a self-catering hotel that overlooked
the sea. It was such a stunning view.

Well, we had a blast at Halong bay. We took part in many activities such as
swimming, volleyball and sailing. We got up at breaking dawn to watch the
sunrise, stroll along the beach, and make sand castles and swim at sunset.
We went there out of season, so there were no flocks of tourists as in peak
season.

28
You should say:
- What you have achieved
- When you have achieved it
- What was difficult about achieving it
and explain why you are proud of this achievement.
I am proud of an achievement that I accomplished a few years ago when I
completed a marathon. It was a personal goal of mine that I had been working
towards for months, and I was thrilled to have accomplished it.

I completed the marathon in the summer of 2018, and it was a significant

challenge for me. The race was 15 kilometers long, and I had to train for
several months to build up my endurance and prepare for the event. Running
such a long distance was physically demanding, and I found it challenging to
maintain my motivation throughout the training process.

Despite the difficulties, I was determined to complete the marathon, and I

kept working hard to improve my fitness and build up my strength. I also
developed a strong support system of fellow runners and trainers who helped
me stay on track and stay focused on my goal.

29. Describe a time when someone apologized to you

You should say:
- When it was
- Who this person is
- Why he or she apologized to you
And how you felt about it

It was two years ago when a student of mine, Linh begged me to help her with
her tons of English assignments. Normally I’m willing to give my students a
hand with their English homework, but that time I was annoyed by Linh’s flood
of messages to me at midnight and the way she talked to me as if she was
giving commands.

I made it clear to her that her way of communicating got on my nerves, and I
couldn’t tolerate it. She argued that she didn’t mean disrespect for me. It was

because she was stressed with her schoolwork and didn’t know how to cope
with it. And I was the only one whom she could count on. She then realized
her mistakes and apologized for her poor behavior.

At first, I was sympathetic to her. I tried to put myself in her shoes to

understand the problem she was confronting. Her trouble reminded me of my
senior year at college when I was drowned in the first-term exam. There was
too much to study, and I had no one to help me. I just panicked.

But then I was at a loss when she apologized profusely. I said I would let it go
and she wouldn’t need to be worried about that anymore. But she kept saying
sorry. After almost one hour, she stopped apologizing and promised that she
wouldn’t make the same mistake.
That’s all I want to say.

30. Describe a piece of technology that you feel difficult to use

You should say:
- When you got it
- What you got it for
- How often you use it
And explain how you feel about it.

I'd like to talk about my laptop, which I often find difficult to use. It's a fairly old
model, and although it still works well, I struggle to operate some of its
features.

Firstly, I find the touchpad difficult to control. It's overly sensitive and often
moves the cursor around the screen when I don't want it to. This can be
frustrating, especially when I'm trying to select text or move files around.

Secondly, I struggle with the laptop's battery life. It doesn't hold a charge for
very long, which means I'm constantly having to plug it in and charge it up.

IELTS KIEN NGUYEN HOTLINE : 0559887869

30
This can be inconvenient when I'm working in a place where there are no
power outlets available.

Lastly, I find the laptop's operating system confusing. It's an older version of
Windows, and some of the menus and options are not intuitive to me. For
example, I often struggle to find the right settings to adjust the volume or
screen brightness.

Despite these difficulties, I still use my laptop on a regular basis. It's an

important tool for my work, and I've learned to work around its limitations. For
example, I often use an external mouse instead of the touchpad, and I try to
conserve the battery life by using low-power modes when I'm not using the
laptop actively.

31. Describe a place where you thought things were too expensive
You should say :
- What the place is
- Where it is located
- What items were expensive

The place I’d like to talk about is Ben Thanh Market, which is located in the
heart of Ho Chi Minh City. This market is one of the oldest and most iconic
landmarks in the city, attracting both locals and tourists alike.

Two years ago, when my Japanese friend visited Ho Chi Minh City, I had the
opportunity to accompany him and introduce him to the city. He wanted to buy
some souvenirs, so I took him to Ben Thanh Market. While we were walking
around, my first impression was that the sellers could speak foreign languages
very well, but I also noticed that the prices were significantly higher than I had
expected.

Everything from clothing items such as traditional Vietnamese Ao Dai and silk
scarves to handicrafts like bamboo products was priced two or three times

IELTS KIEN NGUYEN HOTLINE : 0559887869

31
higher than in other markets. Even the food items, like the famous Vietnamese
Pho and spring rolls, were more expensive compared to other local eateries.

I thought the goods were expensive probably due to the market’s popularity
among tourists. It’s a common trend in many tourist hotspots around the world
where prices are inflated due to high demand. Additionally, the market is
located in the city center, where the cost of living and doing business is
generally higher.

32. Describe a famous person who acts as a role model

You should say:

- Who the person is
- Why he/she is famous
- What you would do if you met this person

The celebrity whom I would like to meet in person is definitely David Bekham.
David was a professional English footballer who played for the world’s most
renowned football clubs such as Manchester United and Real Madrid. He
was named in the list of 100 greatest living football players of FIFA back in
2004.

Besides his career as a sportsman, David is also famous for his marriage to
Victoria Beckham, an equally successful model, singer and fashion designer,
with four children. This has been considered one of the happiest celebrity
marriages and partnerships.

David Beckham is my biggest idol not only because of his legendary football
skills but also because he is very modest and kind as a person. He was seen
offering a hand to a photographer who fell while trying to photograph him.
Also, according to his wife, David Beckham is a devoted husband and father
who always puts his family first.

If I ever had a chance, I would take David Beckham to my favorite restaurants
in Hanoi and introduce Vietnamese food to him. Of course I would take

would be for me to talk with him, learn from him and be inspired by this man.

33. Describe a time when you missed or were late for an important
meeting/event

You should say:

- When it happened
- What happened
- Why you missed/were late for it
And explain how you felt about this experience

One of the most memorable instances where I was late for a meeting was
during my first year of university. I had an important group project meeting
scheduled with my team, and I had planned to arrive 15 minutes early at the
designated location. However, I ended up oversleeping due to a late-night
study session and woke up an hour after the meeting had already started.

Panicking, I immediately called my group members and apologized for my

tardiness. They were understandably frustrated, and I felt terrible for letting
them down. I quickly got dressed and rushed to the meeting location, arriving
nearly an hour late.

When I finally arrived, my team members had already covered most of the
topics on the agenda, and I felt like I had missed out on crucial information
and discussion points. However, I immediately apologized and offered to
catch up on what I had missed. I made sure to take diligent notes and ask
questions to make up for my absence.

I learned an important lesson that day about the importance of punctuality

and being responsible for my commitments. Since then, I have made a
conscious effort to prioritize my time and ensure that I am always punctual for
meetings and other important events. The experience also taught me the
value of communication and accountability in group settings, and I now make

( not your hometown )
You should say
- What it is
- Where it is
- What you know about this place
And explain why you recommend it as a nice place to live

I would say one of the most worth-living city in Vietnam is Vung Tau. The
tropical city is located in the southern part of the country. It borders Ho Chi
Minh city to the north and is surrounded by the East Sea to the south.
Although Vung Tau could be considered a metropolitan area with more than
five hundred thousand dwellers, it is not at all bustling and crowded. Instead,
what you can feel there is absolutely a sense of peace and calmness, which I
think would best suit those who want to escape from their hectic life in big
cities.

Speaking of Vung Tau as a tourist attraction, it is widely known for having

stunning beaches along the coast and spectacular mountain ranges, so you
can make the most of your time while staying there by going swimming with
friends or indulging yourself in fascinating water sports. Furthermore, you will
most likely find yourself surrounded by modern facilities such as gyms,
cinemas, supermarkets, and convenient stores within walking distance.

Apart from luxurious modernity, tradition is also part of the city's identity with
French colonial architecture and heritage sites standing out in the heart of the
city, which I hope would give you an interesting sense of nostalgia. Besides,
nightlife is also something that most people look forward to when they travel to

35. Describe an occasion when you wore your best clothes

You should say :

- When it was
- What you wore
- What it looked like
And explain why you wore it.
Actually, I am definitely not a fashion enthusiast or someone who is on trend,
since I wear casual clothes most of the time. However, whenever there is any
special occasion in my family or I have been invited by my friends, wearing a
beautiful piece of clothing is obviously necessary. And today, I’m going to tell
you about one of those events.

It was actually my friend’s wedding last month. I still remember that day, I was
flooded with compliments from everybody. I wore a sheath dress, colored in
pastel blue and white, which is also my favorite color. Actually, that dress was
partially chosen by my friend, since before the wedding, we went shopping to
choose the best dress for the wedding. I asked her to pick the dress for me
because she has a great sense of style and always keeps up with the latest
fashion trend.

The dress, fortunately, suited me perfectly. I remembered bringing it

immediately to the fitting room when I saw it at first glance. Although fashion is
definitely not my thing, I am confident to say that I have a very good taste in
fashion. The dress is definitely to my liking, since it is extremely versatile, as
shown in a way how the dress is both suitable in the formal setting at work
and my study at school.

When I attended the wedding, everyone told me I looked so different. The
main reason is that I have always pursued a casual look, which basically
includes a T-shirt and a pair of jeans, and sometimes, even a plain-coloured
shift dress. Everyone seemed to be so surprised of what I looked like that day,
because I have never worn such a feminine-looking dress. Overall, I was so
happy and thankful to my friend for helping me choose such a nice dress.

You should say:

- Why you want to go there
- Whom you will go there with
- What you will do there
And explain why you would like to stay there for a short time.
I would love to visit Amsterdam in the Netherlands for a short period of time.
The city is famous for its stunning architecture, beautiful canals, and rich
culture. I have always been fascinated by the unique Dutch way of life and
would love to experience it firsthand.

Amsterdam is a city with a rich history and culture. It has numerous museums,
including the famous Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum, which houses
some of the most important works of Dutch art. I would love to spend a few
hours exploring these museums and learning more about the city's rich
cultural heritage.

Another thing that fascinates me about Amsterdam is its famous canals. The
city is often referred to as the "Venice of the North" because of its many
canals and waterways. I would love to take a boat tour and see the city from a
different perspective. It would be an amazing experience to see the beautiful
buildings and bridges from the water.

Finally, I am also interested in Amsterdam's vibrant nightlife. The city is known

for its lively bars and clubs, and I would love to experience the energy of the
city after dark. I have heard that the nightlife in Amsterdam is like no other, and
I am excited to see it for myself.

One wise choice I recently made was to get up early to prepare for a
significant exam. I was finding it difficult to understand the content, and I was
concerned that I wouldn’t be well-prepared for the exam, which as coming up
soon

One night, I came to the conclusion that taking action would increase my
chances of success. In order to have more time to study in the morning, I
made the decision to set my alarm clock for several hours earlier than normal.
I woke up the following morning feeling drowsy and exhausted, but I coerced
myself out of bed so I could go to work studying. I discovered that the early
morning hours were serene and quiet, and I was much more able to
concentrate than I had been in the evenings.

I kept getting up early and studying hard for the next couple of days. I went
over my notes, worked on practice problems, and asked my lecturers and
fellow students for assistance when I needed it. I felt a lot more assured and
prepared on the exam day than I had in the past. I was able to recollect crucial
knowledge and use it to answer the test questions, which helped me to
achieve a high exam result.

38. Describe an enjoyable journey by public transportation

You should say:

- Where you went
- What means of transportation you took
- Who you were with
And explain how you felt about the trip

I would like to talk about a trip that I took on public transportation a long time
ago. This memory left a lasting impression on me until now.

Though I have my own motorbike, I sometimes use public transportation to

commute from home to work. On this day, I went by bus with one of my
colleagues because it was forecasted that it would rain cats and dogs in the
morning and I didn’t want to get wet. We departed at 7 a.m and tended to
arrive at nearly 8 a.m. I thought choosing to travel by bus was a smart choice
due to several reasons. Initially, in this sprawling city, the traffic congestion
is extremely terrible. In fact, traveling by bus would help you avoid a tailback
or a pile-up because we all have our own line for public transportation.
Secondly, sitting on a bus protect you from suffering the gas emission coming
from other traffic, thus, a better health would be created.

To me, this trip was the best choice I’ve ever made in my life. I had a valuable
chance to enjoy the pace of life of the normal rat race in the city that I often
ignored when traveling by private motorbike. Moreover, I felt safer while sitting
on a bus since I didn’t need to care about speed limit or jumping the lights as
normal.

All in all, this trip is still fresh in my mind and I would use public transportation
more in the future.

39. Describe a sport that you only have watched before but had not
played by yourself

You should say:

- What it is
- When you first watched the sport
- What you like about the sport
And explain why you would like to try this sport

I have to confess that I am not a sport lover and hardly take up any sports at
all. But recently I watched some competitions on TV in the ASIAD 2018 and
was quite impressive with a common sport, which is swimming.

Unlike other sports, there are no rules to follow when you swim. Basically,
swimming is just combination of your leg and arm motions and the natural
floatation of the body. To progress as a swimmer, you need to take up
exercise and practice with a personal trainer as well as wear some special
swimming costumes such as swim cap or glasses to protect your hair and
eyes from chemicals in swimming pool.

I came across a swimming competition when coming home from work and
found my father stick his eyes to TV sreen. I guessed it should be something
very spectacular or interesting and it drew my attention. I came closer to my
TV and watched with him, and at the end I found it worth trying.

I want to play this sport because of two main reasons. It helps me get into
shape and build endurance because it provides an all-over body workout, as
nearly all of my muscles are used during swimming. Additionally, I also feel
liberal and flexible when I'm Deep into the water. All daily stress and hardness
are set aside when I come to swimming pool where my whole body and brain
are released. Finally, it is clear that swimming pool is an ideal place to help me
escape from the extremely hot weather in the summer.

All in all, I cannot fly as a bird but water is my own sky where I feel
I’m flying, so I will definitely learn how to swim.

40. Describe a special day out which didn’t cost very much

You should say:

- When the day was
- Where you went
- How much you spent
And explain how you feel about the day

Today I will talk about the time that a friend of mine and I walked throughout
the city. My family moved from the countryside into the city a few years ago,
and at that time I really didn’t understand the area at all. A few days after
having started school, I mentioned this to a classmate and they offered to
show me around the neighborhood.

That weekend we took our backpacks, filled them up with some water bottles
and snacks and set off. As we left our immediate neighborhood we chatted
and he told me all about the area, how old some of the buildings were, and
some of the notable people on my block. As we got farther and farther from
our houses, he knew less and less details about the area, but we never ran
out of things to talk about. My city has many lakes all across it, and so
whenever we would come upon a new lake, we would find somewhere
comfortable in the shade to take a seat. We would eat some of our snacks
and drink our water. We often checked where we were on the map on our
phones, and by doing this we traced a large circle through the city, and it
eventually brought us back to our neighborhood without ever bringing us to
the same spot twice. The whole day was enjoyable and the only costs to us
to do so were the price of some water bottles and a couple of snacks.

It was a lot of fun, it was good exercise, and it helped me become much more
comfortable in my new home city

IELTS KIEN NGUYEN HOTLINE : 0559887869

40
You should say:
- What it is
- When you usually do it
- Why you do it
And explain why you think it wastes your time

Well, this question makes me think about the time I spend on the internet.
Considering all the time that I spend looking at social networking sites,
watching videos, or reading meaningless articles, internet browsing has
wasted countless of my productive hours.

This happens all the time. I think I must spend around an hour a day on
mindless online browsing. There are a lot of entertaining features on the
internet, which quickly grab your attention and you are likely to end up with
your eyes glued to the screen. Moreover, it is tempting to have a constant
presence on social media. I don’t want to miss anything, I want to stay
continually connected with what others are doing.

However, recently, I’ve read an article about FOMO, you know, fear of missing
out, specifically about how it can detrimentally affect people’s life. I mean,
FOMO is associated with depression and anxiety, and a lowered quality of
life. I soon realized that I was suffering from that kind of anxiety and I decided
to take some actions to prevent myself from becoming addicted to this crazy
virtual world.

I have started to avoid using my phone whenever I have free time so that I
won’t be distracted by it. Besides that, I’ve taken up some new sports to keep
fit and clear my mind of social media. By doing all of these things, hopefully, I
can lead a healthier lifestyle in the future.

42. Describe a place you visited with your friends where you had a good
time

A couple of years ago, my friends and I decided to embark on an exciting

adventure to explore the vibrant city of Đà Nẵng in Vietnam. We were eager to
experience the city's unique blend of modernity and tradition, as well as its
stunning natural beauty.

Our journey began with a visit to the iconic Dragon Bridge, a symbol of Đà
Nẵng's dynamism and progress. We were awestruck by the bridge's
magnificent design and vibrant colors, especially when it illuminated the night
sky with its dazzling display of lights.

Next, we ventured to My Khe Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the
world. We spent our days lounging on the golden sands, soaking up the sun,
and frolicking in the crystal-clear waters. We also tried our hand at various
water sports, including surfing and paddleboarding, which provided us with
exhilarating thrills and unforgettable memories.

In the evenings, we explored the bustling streets of downtown Đà Nẵng,

where we indulged in delicious street food and sampled local delicacies like
bánh xèo and bún chả cá. We also visited the vibrant night markets, where we
browsed for souvenirs and immersed ourselves in the lively atmosphere of the
city.

happened last month when we were planning a movie night together.

Initially, we were all excited about the idea of watching a movie together and

Their disagreement quickly escalated into a heated argument, with each of

44. Describe a place you have visited that is affected by air pollution
You should say:
- Where it is
- When you visited this place
- What kinds of pollution you saw there
And explain how this place was affected
Well, if I have to talk about a polluted place I’ve been to, it would be Ho Chi
Minh City. It’s located in the Southern part of Vietnam.

I’ve been living here for around 2 years. When I first came here, I was so
surprised how polluted the city is. It’s so different from my hometown which is
a green and clean rural area. There are many kinds of pollution here: air
pollution, water pollution and even noise pollution. There are so many vehicles
on the streets and they make noises and emit fumes all the time. It was
especially terrible travelling on the street during peak hours. Besides, it’s easy
to see trash in rivers and lakes because some people just throw their waste
into these community water sources without any awareness of the damage to
the surrounding environment. It’s even worse that some factories also dump
dirty water and other waste directly into rivers so many of them are black and
smelly. I think the pollution affects people’s lives in a negative way.

IELTS KIEN NGUYEN HOTLINE : 0559887869

43
Air pollution can cause serious respiratory diseases such as asthma or lung
cancer. Water is polluted so people may face water scarcity in the future and
the noise can drive people crazy because it’s really annoying and distracting.
Many animals living in water are also affected, too. They are losing their
habitats or food source since the water is contaminated. Some of them may
become extinct if we do not take action now. I hope the government will have
some kinds of campaigns or TV shows to raise people’s awareness of
protecting the environment and plant more trees in the city to improve air
quality.

45. Describe an activity you enjoyed in your free time when you were
young
You should say:
- what it was
- where you did it
- who you did it with
and explain why you enjoyed it.
I fondly remember one particular activity that brought me endless joy and
excitement during my childhood: playing hide-and-seek with my friends.

It was a game that required no equipment or fancy gadgets, just a group of

enthusiastic kids with a thirst for adventure.
We would spend hours running around the neighborhood, hiding in the most
unlikely places and giggling uncontrollably as we watched our friends search
for us. The thrill of being discovered, or the satisfaction of finding a particularly
clever hiding spot, was enough to keep us entertained for hours on end.
Playing hide-and-seek was like a breath of fresh air, a chance to forget about
the stress and worries of everyday life and just be carefree kids. We would
use idioms like “the world is our oyster” or “the sky’s the limit” to describe our
enthusiasm and excitement.

Looking back, I realize that the game taught me important life skills, like
problem-solving, communication and teamwork. But at the time, all I knew was
that I was having the time of my life. And to this day, whenever I see a group
of kids playing hide-and-seek, I can’t help but smile and feel a twinge of
nostalgia for those carefree days of my youth.

46. Describe a product that would you like to buy in others countries

You should say:

- what product it is
- when you want to buy it
- whether it has any special feature
And explain why you want to buy it.

Firstly, I feel that most luxury goods there are genuine and authentic. I believe
that it is impossible for me to come across counterfeits, and the quality is
reliable and trustworthy.
Besides, I also think that the price of luxury goods is affordable. Especially,
when it comes to the sale season or promotion, I might buy them at a low
price.

More importantly, I may have a wider range of selections in a foreign country.

It is more likely that I will find some limited editions available, which is rare in
my country. Normally, they have new arrivals available earlier as well. So, it is
really advantageous.

One more to add, they provide door-to-door service. They promise that the
ordered items will be delivered overnight, which vastly meets the consumers’
expectations. And besides, we can escape from the crowds and fatigue of
getting around and shopping, so it is time-saving and energy-saving. With a
click of my mouse, shopping is just as easy as it sounds. In summary, those
are the reasons why I want to buy luxury goods from another country.

45
You should say:
- What this river is called.
- Where it is located
- How big/long it is
And explain why it is important
There are lakes, rivers, and bays almost everywhere in Vietnam, and each
one has a unique history. However, Hoan Kiem Lake, or Sword Lake as it is
more commonly known in English, a small freshwater lake in Hanoi, is one
that is particularly well-known because of its scenic beauty and rich stories.

Sword Lake, located in the center of the city, has long been regarded as a
representation of Hanoi and the nostalgic image that the name “Hanoi”
conjures in the thoughts of any Hanoians who live overseas. The name “Hoan
Kiem” of the lake, which derives from the myth of King Le Thai returning a
magic sword to a holy turtle after using it to slay Ming dynasty invaders,
literally means “Return the sword” in English.

As a result, the lake has a unique place in the history of both the city and the
nation. While the lake’s water is renowned for having an unchanging shade of
green, the colors can vary depending on how the sky is reflected. The lake’s
surroundings are covered in thick vegetation, and the trees and glistening
water provide an unbeatable sense of tranquility.

Thus, the lake serves as a gathering spot for special events and may be
regarded as a major cultural hub of Hanoi, hosting numerous significant
events in a range of sectors. On typical days, there are still a number of
activities at the lake, such as strolling, biking, dancing, or just relaxing on the
benches and taking in the scenery.

One place where I often take photos is the large park directly in front of my
house, making it incredibly convenient for regular visits.

The park is a beautiful area with many large trees that offer shade for various
activities like dancing or practicing martial arts. Additionally, it is adorned with
a variety of flowers, meticulously maintained by workers every day, ensuring
its beauty throughout the year. At the heart of the park, a big pond offers a
stunning view and a calming atmosphere.

Visitors can engage in various activities at this park. For children, there are
playgrounds where they can play freely and safely. Additionally, wide paths
around the park attract many adults for walking and jogging. Moreover, this
park is also a venue for trade fairs, as it is located at the heart of the city, able
to attract many shoppers.

I take photos here primarily because of its proximity to my home, which

allows me to easily take my children to the park, let them play, and capture
these moments as memories. These photographs will serve as beautiful
reminders of their childhood as they grow up. Another reason I frequently take
photos in the park is its natural beauty. Sharing these pictures on Facebook

At first, my teacher introduced herself and the other students. She was so kind
and welcoming, which made me feel right at home. After that, we together
participated in some fun activities and games, and I was so enthusiastic to
be learning something new.

Before I knew it, it was time to go home. It felt sad to leave, but I was also
looking forward to coming back the next day. My first day at that school was a
moment to be proud of, since I thought I was brave for studying in a

You should say:

- What it was?
- Who did you do it with?
- How long did it take you to do this?
And explain why you did it together?
Today, I would like to talk about one instance of motorbike touring that I did
with a group of friends. It was when we decided to visit Da Lat, a beautiful city
nestled in the central highlands of Vietnam.

It was bound to be an exciting adventure as we would get to explore the city

on our motorbikes. We traveled in a group of three, one tailing another. I was
at the rear to keep a lookout for everyone while another person who was the
most experienced rider and navigator led our group.

On the way there, I suddenly had a tyre puncture, but since there was no
repair shop in sight, I decided to press on and keep up with friends until we
got to the next checkpoint. As we continued our journey, we suddenly reached
a part of the road with a dangerously slippery surface. It was when I had to
brake abruptly that my bike started to lose its grip and skid uncontrollably
until it collapsed onto the road. Luckily, my friends noticed and came to my
rescue. Despite my injured and disoriented state, they remained calm as they

steadied the bike in an upright position and assisted me in carrying out some
quick patch jobs, so within only a few minutes we were back on the road.

It was then only a matter of hours before the first signs of Da Lat became
visible. On one side of the road, we were greeted by a vast expanse of pine
forests that seemed to stretch on endlessly. We decided to take a quick break
every now and then to take in the breathtaking scenery, and also to do some
cautionary checking on our vehicles. Luckily, my tyre lasted until the end and
we arrived in Da Lat later that day without sustaining any further injuries.

You should say:

- Where it is
- When you went there
- What you did there
And explain why you feel it’s a noisy place
The night market in the center of Hanoi, Vietnam, is one of the noisiest
locations I have ever been. The Old Quarter, a lively and historic
neighborhood noted for its winding lanes and rich cultural legacy, is home to
this thriving night market. In the summer of last year, I went to the night
market.

I was taken aback by the din of noises as soon as I entered the night market.
The area was bustling with people going about their daily business, both
visitors and residents. The sound of negotiating, the clatter of food vendors’
cooking tools, and the loud music from different street performers filled the air.

Throughout my stay, I engaged in a variety of activities. I meandered along the

colorful pathways, taking in the diverse selection of vendors offering apparel,
accessories, trinkets, and street cuisine. I enjoyed the mouthwatering

specialties from the area, such banh mi, pho, and fresh fruit smoothies. The
smell of street food and the lively ambiance enhanced the sensory

Because of the large number of people and the variety of activities going on at
the same time, I think the night market is a noisy place. There is a continual
hum of chatter and haggling because it is a well-liked meeting place for both
residents and visitors. The lively but boisterous atmosphere is further
enhanced by the street performers and musical acts.

Although some people may find the noise level to be excessive, it is a crucial
aspect of the allure of the night market. The vibrant ambiance combined with
the busy throng makes for an unforgettable and engaging experience. For
both locals and visitors, the night market is a fascinating and unforgettable site
because of its bright energy and the blending of many cultures.

For me, teaching my cousin how to play the guitar was a very fulfilling

significant since it made it possible for us to communicate and bond around a

In general, I think that imparting knowledge to others can be a truly fulfilling

experience, particularly if it’s a subject that you’re very passionate about. It’s
a great opportunity to give back and support someone else’s growth while also
deepening your own understanding and appreciation of the material. Without a
doubt, I would do it again!

He found it difficult at first, but he trained every day since he was highly driven

In the movie Mr. Bean’s Holiday, Atkinson plays an ordinary man living an
ordinary life But what makes the character unforgettable is that he
exaggerates all the details, like facial expression, the way he walks, smiles,
and deals with all kinds of usual events in daily life, making them so dramatic
and amusing.

I admire him not only because of his acting but more for his ability to use that
physicality to broadcast an attitude, which distinguishes him from other
actors . He has always been truthful to himself and to the audience by
revealing character flaws of humans, like being stingy, vain, and a moocher.

instinct or human nature. And I think that’s why the role of Mr. Bean is
universally popular.

The most unusual meal I ever had was during a trip to Japan last year. I was

upon a small, hidden restaurant tucked away in a narrow alley.

The restaurant specialized in serving exotic and unconventional dishes, so

we decided to give it a try. As we entered, we were greeted by the owner, a
friendly elderly Japanese man who spoke limited English but was eager to
welcome us. We sat down at a traditional low table and eagerly awaited our
meal.

To our surprise, the menu consisted of dishes we had never heard of before,
including fermented soybeans, raw horse meat, and grilled octopus tentacles.
While some of my friends hesitated, I was determined to embrace the
experience and try everything.

As we dug into the dishes, I felt a mixture of excitement and apprehension.

One website that I frequently visit is Goodreads. Goodreads is a platform

and review them, and connect with other readers around the world.

I first found out about Goodreads when I was searching for book
recommendations online. I stumbled upon it while browsing through
book-related forums and immediately became intrigued by its features.

I visit Goodreads almost daily, especially when I'm looking for my next read or
want to see what my friends are reading. I find myself spending quite a bit of
time on the website, browsing through book lists, reading reviews, and adding
books to my virtual shelves.

The reason I often visit Goodreads is because it's a treasure trove of literary
resources. Not only does it provide personalized book recommendations
based on my reading preferences, but it also allows me to keep track of books
I've read and want to read in the future. Additionally, I enjoy reading reviews
from other readers to get different perspectives on books before deciding

59. Describe an advertisement you have seen but you did not like

You should say:

- What type of advertisement it is
- What product or service it advertises
- Where and when you first saw it
And explain why you don’t like it

I want to talk about an advertisement that has been bothering me lately. It’s an
ad that seems to be everywhere I look, and every time I see it, it makes me
cringe.

The ad in question is for a weight loss supplement, and it’s filled with all sorts
of unrealistic promises and exaggerated claims. It preys on people’s
insecurities and makes them feel like they need to change who they are in
order to be happy.

What’s worse is that the ad uses a lot of manipulative tactics to get people to
buy the product. It’s like they’re trying to pull the wool over our eyes and make
us believe that this pill is the solution to all our problems.

As the saying goes, “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.” And that’s
exactly how I feel about this advertisement. It’s not just misleading, it’s
downright deceptive.

In conclusion, I believe that advertisements like these have no place in our

society. They prey on people’s vulnerabilities and perpetuate harmful
stereotypes about body image. As the old adage goes, “honesty is the best
policy,” and I think it’s time for advertisers to start being more upfront and
transparent about the products they’re selling.

- what you complained about
and explain why you were satisfied with the result.

I would like to share with you a time when I made a complaint and was
satisfied with the result. It was a few months ago when I had ordered a
product online, and it arrived damaged.

I was disappointed and frustrated because I had paid a lot of money for it. I
decided to contact the customer service team and explain the situation. They
were very understanding and helpful, and they offered to send me a
replacement product free of charge. I was impressed by their prompt and
courteous response. As the saying goes, “The squeaky wheel gets the
grease,” and it’s important to speak up when we have a legitimate complaint.
It’s also important to remain polite and respectful when making a complaint, as
this can help to resolve the issue more quickly and efficiently.

This experience taught me the importance of customer service and the value
of speaking up when something goes wrong. It’s important for companies to
listen to their customers and take their complaints seriously, as this can help to
build trust and loyalty.

In conclusion, I was satisfied with the result of my complaint because the

customer service team took my concerns seriously and offered a prompt and
satisfactory solution. It’s important to remember that making a complaint can
lead to positive change and improvement, both for ourselves and for others.

Recently, I received some wonderful news about my friend My. She had been

I heard about it last week when My called me to share her excitement. She
sounded overjoyed as she told me about the success of her project and all
the positive feedback she had received.

I've known My for many years, so I've seen firsthand how dedicated and
passionate she is about her work. She pours her heart and soul into
everything she does, so it was incredibly rewarding to see her efforts pay off.

When I heard the news, I couldn't help but feel proud of My. She had
overcome numerous challenges and obstacles along the way, but she never
gave up. Her determination and perseverance serve as an inspiration to me
and everyone around her.

Overall, hearing about My's success filled me with happiness and optimism. It

- How long it took to complete it
- How people feel about it
And explain how it has improved the area you live in

One of the most significant developments in my area recently is the

construction of a high-end shopping mall right in the heart of the city. It's called
"Diamond Plaza" and it's located on Nguyen Hue Street, which is one of the
busiest streets in the city center.

Before the construction of Diamond Plaza, this area was mainly occupied by
old buildings and small shops. While it was still a bustling area, it lacked
modern amenities and upscale retail options. People would often have to
travel to other parts of the city to find high-end shopping and dining
experiences.

The construction of Diamond Plaza took approximately two years to complete.

It was a massive project that involved demolishing the existing structures and
building a state-of-the-art shopping mall from the ground up. Despite some
delays and inconveniences during the construction phase, the end result was
well worth the wait.

Overall, people in the area are thrilled about the opening of Diamond Plaza. It
has brought a new level of sophistication and luxury to the neighborhood,
attracting both locals and tourists alike. The mall boasts a wide range of
upscale boutiques, international brands, and gourmet restaurants, providing
residents with convenient access to premium shopping and dining options.

You should say:

The photo that instantly brings a smile to my face was taken a few years ago
during a family trip to the beach. We visited a beautiful coastal town in the
summer, and it was a perfect day with clear blue skies and the warm sun
gently caressing the golden sand.

In the photo, you can see the breathtaking seascape, with the vast ocean
stretching out to the horizon. The water was a mesmerizing shade of
turquoise, and the waves were gently lapping at the shore. There’s also a
vibrant beach umbrella in the foreground, casting a colorful shadow on the
sand.

I don’t look at this photo as often as I should, but whenever I do, it instantly
lifts my spirits. It encapsulates the feeling of carefree joy, relaxation, and the
simple pleasures of life. I’m reminded of the warmth of the sun on my skin, the

wanted

You should say:

- Who gave it to you
And explain why you wanted it so much

Getting gifts is always a pleasant experience, but getting something that you
really want is an entirely different feeling. I remember the day when my cousin
gave me a gift that I had been longing for a long time. It was a beautiful pink
mechanical keyboard that I had my eyes on for months. I couldn't believe it
when I saw it in front of me. My cousin had given it to me as a gift to
congratulate me on my university entrance exam.

Before receiving the gift, I had been saving up for the keyboard, but it was still
out of my budget. Little did I know that my cousin had been keeping a close
watch on me and my wishes. So, when my cousin found out that I had been
accepted into my dream university, he wasted no time in surprising me with
the keyboard. He picked me up from my house and drove us to the store
where we got it.

When I opened the package, I was over the moon with this sweet surprise
gift. It was the perfect present for me as I had been searching for a new
mechanical keyboard for a long time. I started using it immediately, and it was

extremely convenient and suited my needs perfectly. I always feel comfortable
using it when I work or study. Moreover, it made me feel more productive and
motivated. Every time I typed on it, I remembered my cousin's kindness and
how he went out of his way to make me happy.

What made this gift special was the thought behind it. It was not just a
keyboard; it was a symbol of my cousin's affection and support for me. He
may come across as strict and cold sometimes, but he cares deeply about me
and my future. Receiving this gift made me feel contented and proud.

66. Describe your favourite type of climate

You should say:

- What is it?
- Is it hot or cold?
- How often is the rain?
And explain why you like this type of climate

Well, I’d like to talk about my favorite type of climate, which is a temperate
climate. It’s not too hot, not too cold, just right in the middle. I prefer this type
of climate because it offers a balance between the extremes of heat and cold.

In a temperate climate, the temperatures are typically moderate, ranging from

about 20 to 25 degrees Celsius in the summer and not dropping too low in the
winter, usually staying above freezing. This means I can enjoy outdoor
activities comfortably throughout the year without being overwhelmed by heat
or freezing cold.

As for rainfall, in a temperate climate, rain is fairly evenly distributed

throughout the year. There are no prolonged periods of heavy rain or
droughts, which I appreciate. It keeps the landscape lush and green without
causing too much inconvenience.

One of the main reasons I like this type of climate is because it allows for a
variety of outdoor activities. Whether it's hiking in the spring, swimming in the

The party was a friend’s birthday celebration, held at their home on a Saturday
evening. Ngọc was a friend of a friend, and I had never met her before.

We started talking about our shared interest in hiking and outdoor activities.
Ngọc was full of stories about her adventures, and it was clear she was very
passionate about the subject. She had recently gone on a trip to a national
park and showed me pictures of her journey. She was knowledgeable,
humorous, and very friendly.

Our conversation eventually turned to work, and I was surprised to learn that
Ngọc was a software engineer. It was fascinating to hear about her
experience in the tech industry and her thoughts on the current advancements
in artificial intelligence.

I enjoyed talking to Ngọc at the party because she was a great

conversationalist, and she made me feel comfortable and at ease. I found
her to be intelligent, interesting, and humble. She had a positive outlook on

- How long you have known him/her

Since we’ve known each other for ten years, Mai, who also happens to be one
of my greatest friends, has always inspired me. She is a real workaholic and
study animal, I assure you.

Mai was well-known for her brilliance and exceptional academic ranking
during our time in high school. She never had to stay up late studying for an
exam because she consistently scored quite well on them. She was a diligent
student who aced high school and college with stellar grades, which is why I
like her.

She has been working nonstop as an officer at a legal firm from nine to five
and as a part-time English instructor in the evenings since graduating from
university. I’m curious how she managed her time and found the energy to
work so hard at two jobs at once. In any case, Mai has a deep love for
Japanese cuisine and has always wished to open a tiny Japanese eatery.

Mai even considered quitting her legal studies to follow her dream of going for
a culinary training program. Despite our close friendship, she had kept me in
the dark about her plans until she eventually revealed to me that she had
been getting ready to launch her firm.

She had everything organized and had even asked me to her restaurant’s
launch when I first learned about her plan. It is the usual Mai. She really
always works quietly and conscientiously, and her accomplishments always
astound everyone.

One experience that made me feel proud was when I participated in a

community service project during my college years. The project involved
renovating and painting a local school that had been damaged by a storm.

As a team, we spent several weekends working on the project, which included

repairing the walls, replacing damaged furniture, and painting the classrooms.
We faced several challenges along the way, such as dealing with limited
resources and coordinating with different stakeholders.

Despite the challenges, I was proud to see the progress we made each day
and the impact it had on the local community. We received positive feedback
from the school administration and the students, who were thrilled to have a
fresh and colorful learning environment.

What made me even more proud was the sense of teamwork and
camaraderie we developed throughout the project. We worked together to
overcome obstacles and make the most of our resources. It was a truly
rewarding experience to see our collective efforts come to fruition and make
a difference in the lives of others.

As an English teacher and an interpreter, I sometimes take on the role of a

tour guide. So when I have friends coming for a visit, I’ll take them to some of
the most famous places in my city.

Just last month, a friend of mine who comes from a different part of my
country brought his kids here. They were all excited to see my city and were
particularly interested in historical places, which they’d all read about in
textbooks but hadn’t had the chance to visit in person.

On the first day I took them to ABC, which is the first university of my country.
The place is situated in the centre of our capital, its architecture typical of the
feudal times, looking very distinct from the modern buildings in its
surroundings.

At the entrance we noticed people in traditional clothing offering calligraphy

service. My friend decided to ask for some ‘lucky phrases’ to bring home.

Passing the gate, we started walking down the main path and arrived at a
temple where people can wish for luck before exams. There were also stone
turtle steles lining the walls. It is said that if you touch their heads luck will
come to you during your exams. But in recent years these heads have been
touched so much that they are now off-limits. I specifically warned them not
to do that.

I often visit a small bakery called "Sweet Delights" located in the heart of my

easily recognizable by its charming display of freshly baked goods in the
window.

The customers who frequent this bakery are quite diverse, ranging from young
families picking up treats for their children to elderly couples enjoying a
morning pastry with their coffee. It's a popular spot for locals who appreciate
the quality and warmth of the baked goods and the friendly service.

As for the goods sold there, "Sweet Delights" offers a variety of freshly baked

- who this person was

Kindness is a vital part of a person’s nature, especially in this day and age,
where people tend to be more self-centred. There are times when an
individual might be helpless and in need of assistance. In such situations, it is
always important to show compassion and uplift others. An incident where
another person was kind to me was when I was a pre-teenager and a stranger
helped me out of a distressing situation. Although I never interacted with this
person for a second time, he has remained in my good wishes.

This incident occurred when I was ten or eleven years old and went shopping
with my mother. The place that we visited was a few train stations away from
home. It was a particularly busy day, and the station was bustling with people.
Amidst the crowd, I got stranded and separated from my mother. I remained
at the spot where I lost my mother in the crowd and started to panic.
Eventually, a train came into the station, and in a moment of confusion, I
boarded the train, thinking my mother had done the same. After travelling a
few stations in the wrong direction, I broke down, and the people on board
asked me to get off the train after I had told them I was lost.

After I got off the train, I was in a completely unknown location. Helpless and
in fear, I started walking in the direction I came from along the train tracks
when this stranger who was also walking in the opposite direction noticed my
panicked expression and asked me what was wrong. After hearing my plight,
he took me to the railway police station and stayed there till my mother came
to pick me up.

Although that day was one of the worst days of my life, I am forever grateful to
that stranger because he is the reason I reunited with my mother after the
terrible circumstances I had faced.

So let me tell you about the time I spent getting ready for my driver’s license
ten years ago. It happened during my first year of college. My parents
enrolled me in a driving school because they wanted to finish it as soon as
possible since I had a two-month summer break.

Well, I used to think that driving was easy for me because I used to go karting
with my younger cousin. But when I arrived and turned on the car, it was very
different from what I had anticipated. I struggled to handle the steering
wheel and was unable to park the car in the proper spot. In addition, I only had
a short amount of time to practice. You see, acquiring your driver’s license
before starting work is essential because else you won’t have much free time
to do it. For this reason, every summer break, the driving school was packed
with pupils.

I asked my dad if he could educate me and give me some advice after

learning that I might not pass the test because I hadn’t had much practice.
Then we sped out to a location free of pedestrians and got behind the wheel.
After a few days, I’ve gotten better at controlling the car and can now drive a
little more smoothly without the battery dying. It was a pleasant experience
overall. In the end, I aced the exam and received my license that summer.

I would like to talk about an important letter from one of my besties living in the
US.
It was a Sunday morning in May 2 years ago when the postman came to my
house and delivered the letter to me. At first I thought it was a mistake as I
couldn’t think of any of my friends or relatives who still used this outdated
means of communication. But then I could not believe my eyes to realize that
it was Mia – my best friend from high school who sent me the letter. In fact, we
had lost contact for more than a decade since her family moved to the US for
a new life, and despite my every endeavor to find her on social networking
sites; I have always ended up finding different people with the same name.

I immediately felt blissful, nervously reading her letter. She was exactly like
the Mia that I knew years ago. She was still treating me with tender loving
care, asking me so many questions that I was just a bit overwhelmed. It was
also her sense of humor in every single thing she mentioned that could not be
hidden. She didn’t forget to tell me what had happened to her over the past 12
years, and I was so happy to know that she was also pursuing a teaching
career just like me.

Mia’s letter was the longest letter I have read in my entire life, and it was so
meaningful to
me. I had never thought that I would have such a wonderful chance to
reconnect with my soul-mate, who I trusted so much, after such a long time. It
gave us the chance to be connected again, and to gossip about everything in
life and to remind each other about the beautiful old days.

and saffron. I first learned about paella from watching cooking shows and
reading food blogs where it's often featured as a quintessential Spanish dish.

Paella is mostly prepared and consumed in Spain, particularly in the coastal

regions like Valencia, where it originated. It's a popular dish for gatherings and
celebrations, often cooked outdoors in large, shallow pans over an open
flame.

I'm drawn to the idea of trying paella because it seems like a vibrant and
hearty dish bursting with rich flavors and colors. The combination of fresh
seafood, savory meats, and aromatic spices like saffron creates a tantalizing
blend of tastes and textures that I've never experienced before. Additionally,
the communal aspect of sharing a large pan of paella with friends or family

face a range of challenges, from cooking under time pressure to using
mystery ingredients to catering for large groups. It's exciting to see how they
come up with creative solutions and push themselves to their limits. The
judges are top chefs in their own right, and they offer valuable feedback and

books from around the world. It also encouraged us to share our own books
so that others can read them too.

I joined the group when I was a college student and was living in my
hometown. It would be around 9 years ago and I was around 16 years old
then. There were more than 80 members in this group and we used to meet at
the group’s library complex. There were several rooms and a large library and
we used to gather there once a week in the evening.

I enjoyed being a member of this group because if offered the opportunity to

different books and authors. We even met some famous authors who were
very bright and creative people who had an uncanny style of telling stories.
Because of my membership in this club, I could take books to my home from
their library and that helped me read many books that I believe I would not
have read otherwise. Moreover, many senior members explained the writing

One area in my hometown that has recently undergone rapid change is the
downtown district. This part of the city, which was once characterized by
traditional buildings and small businesses, has seen a significant
transformation in the past few years.

IELTS KIEN NGUYEN HOTLINE : 0559887869

The changes in the downtown area are primarily manifested through urban
redevelopment projects aimed at modernizing the infrastructure and
revitalizing the commercial landscape. Old buildings have been demolished
to make way for sleek high-rise condominiums, office towers, and shopping
malls. Additionally, there has been an influx of trendy cafes, restaurants, and
boutiques catering to a younger, more affluent demographic.

Several factors have contributed to the rapid transformation of the downtown

district. Firstly, there has been increased investment from both local and
foreign developers seeking to capitalize on the city's economic growth and
booming real estate market. Secondly, the government has implemented
policies to attract businesses and investors to the area, offering incentives and
streamlined approval processes for development projects.

As a resident of the city, I have mixed feelings about the changes in the
downtown area.

You should say
- What it is
- How you would learn it more
- Where you can learn it more
And explain why you want to keep learning it.
I'm always very interested in learning to play musical instruments. And there is
one instrument that I have always wanted to master, and that is the guitar.

I have always dreamed of becoming a guitar player ever since I was a kid.
This is because my parents are also into playing music, and played lots of
acoustic songs in my house. I was fascinated by the sound and melody of
guitars. However, I didn’t have the chance to learn to play the guitar until I was
20, when one of my friends, a guitarist, taught me to play.

It was not as easy as it first seemed. I mean, playing an instrument doesn't

require you to be very physically strong, right? But, you need skillful hands,
being able to move very quickly and precisely. I found it quite difficult to
constantly change the position of my fingers and I had to spend a lot of time
practicing. Although I can play a number of songs at the moment, I still
consider myself a novice guitar player. Surely, I will continue to practice until I
can play it skillfully.

I think being able to play the guitar is one of the most wonderful things that I
have ever learned. It helps you to relax, make friends, and it's also a good way
to impress the girls! I'm not going to brag but lots of girls have fallen for me
because of my songs.

and explain why you like that foreign culture.

One foreign culture that has always fascinated me is the Japanese culture. I
first became interested in it through watching anime and reading manga,
which are Japanese animated shows and comics. As I delved deeper into
Japanese entertainment, I became intrigued by various aspects of their
culture, such as their traditional arts, cuisine, and festivals.

One striking difference between Japanese culture and my own is the

emphasis on respect and etiquette in everyday interactions. In Japan, there
are specific customs and rituals governing social behavior, such as bowing to
greet others and removing shoes before entering homes or certain buildings.
Additionally, the concept of harmony, known as "wa," is deeply ingrained in
Japanese society, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peaceful
relationships and avoiding conflict.

Another aspect that sets Japanese culture apart is its rich tradition of
craftsmanship and attention to detail, whether it's in the art of tea ceremony,
flower arrangement (ikebana), or the meticulous preparation of Japanese
cuisine. This dedication to perfection and mastery is evident in every aspect of
Japanese life, from the design of everyday objects to the execution of cultural
practices.

What draws me to Japanese culture is its unique blend of tradition and

modernity. Despite being a highly advanced and technologically-driven
society, Japan has managed to preserve its rich cultural heritage and values. I
admire the Japanese people's commitment to preserving their traditions while
embracing innovation and change.

One memorable occasion when I lost something was when I misplaced my

smartphone. It was a hectic day, and I had been running errands all over town.
I vividly remember placing my phone on a table in a café while I quickly
attended to something else, only to realize moments later that it was no longer
there.

Panic set in as I frantically searched through my bag, pockets, and the

surrounding area, but to no avail. I retraced my steps, revisiting every place I
had been to that day, hoping to find any trace of my lost phone. However, it
seemed to have vanished into thin air.

Feeling frustrated and anxious, I decided to retrace my steps one more time
and returned to the café where I last remembered having my phone. After
explaining my situation to the staff, they kindly allowed me to search the
premises again. To my immense relief, I spotted my phone tucked away
between some magazines on a nearby shelf.

The feeling of relief that washed over me was indescribable. Not only was I

space exploration through books, documentaries, and movies about space
missions like Apollo and the Space Shuttle program.

Becoming an astronaut requires extensive education and training in fields

such as science, engineering, and aviation. Astronaut candidates typically
have backgrounds in fields like engineering, physics, or medicine, and they
undergo rigorous physical and psychological evaluations to ensure they are

The subject that I found particularly interesting during high school was biology.
I studied it in my sophomore year as part of my science curriculum. Biology
fascinated me because it delved into the intricate workings of living organisms
and explored the complexities of life itself.

What made biology so captivating was its relevance to the world around us.
Learning about the structure and function of cells, genetics, evolution, and
ecology provided me with a deeper understanding of the natural world and
how living organisms interact with each other and their environment.

Moreover, biology offered a perfect blend of theoretical knowledge and

hands-on experimentation. I enjoyed conducting experiments in the laboratory,
dissecting specimens, and observing microscopic organisms under the
microscope. These practical activities not only reinforced the theoretical
concepts but also sparked my curiosity and critical thinking skills.

One aspect of biology that particularly intrigued me was its role in addressing
real-world problems and shaping the future of healthcare and biotechnology.
Studying topics like genetics and biotechnology opened my eyes to the
incredible potential of advancements in the life sciences to improve human
health, conserve biodiversity, and address global challenges such as climate
change and food security.

I recently made a wooden bookshelf with a friend, and it was quite an
enjoyable and rewarding experience. We decided to make it because we both
needed a new bookshelf for our growing collection of books, and we thought it
would be a fun project to work on together.

To make the bookshelf, we first researched different designs and

measurements to ensure it would fit the space we had available and
accommodate our books. We then purchased the necessary materials,
including wood planks, screws, and brackets, from a local hardware store.
After gathering all the materials, we began cutting the wood to the
appropriate sizes using a saw and then assembled the pieces together using
screws and brackets.

Throughout the process, we encountered some challenges, such as ensuring

the shelves were level and sturdy, but we worked through them together,
learning from each other's skills and problem-solving together. After a few
days of work, we finally completed the bookshelf, and seeing the finished
product was incredibly satisfying.

I felt a sense of accomplishment and pride in what we had created together.

Not only did we have a functional piece of furniture that met our needs, but we
also had a tangible reminder of our collaboration and teamwork. Making the
bookshelf strengthened our friendship and provided us with a sense of
achievement, knowing that we had successfully completed a DIY project from

I remember stumbling upon a captivating painting during a visit to an art
gallery a few years ago. The painting that caught my eye was a serene
landscape depicting a tranquil countryside scene at dawn.

The painting portrays a picturesque rural setting with rolling hills, lush
greenery, and a winding river reflecting the soft hues of the early morning sky.
A quaint cottage nestled among tall trees adds to the charm of the scene,
evoking a sense of peace and serenity.

The artist behind this masterpiece is renowned landscape painter, John Doe,
known for his ability to capture the beauty and tranquility of nature in his
works. His attention to detail and mastery of light and color create a sense of
realism that draws viewers into the scene, inviting them to immerse
themselves in its beauty.

What I particularly like about this painting is the sense of calm and tranquility it
evokes. The soft, muted colors and gentle brushstrokes convey a sense of
serenity, allowing me to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and find

Well, I can think of a moment that truly changed my life in a profoundly
positive way. It happened a few years ago when I decided to volunteer at a
local animal shelter in my hometown.

This transformative experience took place in the summer, at a small animal

shelter located on the outskirts of our town. What happened was that I started
volunteering there as a way to give back to the community and spend my free
time productively. Little did I know that this decision would have such a
profound impact on my life.

When I first walked into the shelter, I was greeted by a cacophony of barks,
meows, and other animal sounds. The sight of so many animals in need of
care was overwhelming. I began by helping with the daily chores like
cleaning cages, feeding, and walking the dogs.
As time went on, I got more involved in the rehabilitation and adoption
processes.

The initial feelings I had were a mixture of compassion, sadness, and

sometimes helplessness. Seeing abandoned and mistreated animals was
heart-wrenching, but as I spent more time with them, I felt a growing sense of
purpose and fulfillment. The gratitude in the eyes of the animals when they
received care and affection was incredibly rewarding.

This experience transformed my life in several positive ways. Firstly, it

deepened my sense of empathy and compassion, not only towards animals
but also towards people. I started appreciating the importance of giving back
to the community and supporting those in need. Secondly, it changed my
career path. Inspired by my volunteer work, I decided to pursue a career in
animal welfare and advocacy, which I find incredibly fulfilling. Lastly, it
introduced me to a wonderful community of fellow volunteers who share my
passion for making a difference.

104. Describe a rule at work or school that you think is important

You should say:
- What the rule is about
- What happens when people break the rule
- Why you think it is an important rule
And explain how you feel about the rule

In my school, there is a very important rule, which is “Keep the campus clean”.
This rule requires students to maintain a clean and tidy environment on the
campus and not to litter casually.

If someone violates this rule, the school will provide corresponding

education and warnings. At the same time, the person involved will be
required to personally clean up the litter they have thrown, as a warning.

I think this is a very important rule because a clean campus environment

directly affects the quality of learning and life. A clean and tidy campus can
enhance students’ motivation to learn and their sense of well-being. It also
contributes to the beautification and environmental protection efforts on
campus.

Personally, I strongly agree with this rule. I believe that keeping the campus
clean is the responsibility of every student and a sign of respect for our shared
learning environment. I will actively abide by this rule, and occasionally, I will

105. Describe a time when you went to a party that you enjoyed
You should say:
- What was it about?
- Where was it held?
- What did people do at the party?
And explain how you felt about it.

I’m going to talk about one of the most memorable wedding parties I have
ever attended until now. It’s about two years ago when my cousin got married.
We have been good friends for years since the day we were born. So on his
wedding day, I got up early in the morning to get ready, partly because I
couldn’t sleep the night before.

The wedding was held in the yard of our communal house, which is a
tradition in our village that all the weddings should have the involvement of all
villagers. Like other guests in the party, I got dressed and seated readily
before the groom and bride came to our table to convey wishes and
congratulations. After praying in front of the altar and asking for permission for
their marriage from the ancestors, the couple came to address all the guests
and made a toast.

Most of the guests spent time dining with each other, sharing stories about the
newlywed couple and many other topics. Also, I noticed that some guests
were so excited and got a little bit drunk that they came up to the stage and
performed their favorite songs with a band playing live music behind them.
Vietnamese people love karaoke, without doubt, and they seize every single
social event to sing and dance cheerfully.

It was a milestone event for my beloved cousin, and I felt so proud of him.
When he and his wife exchanged their wedding rings, I realized that my
cousin was a grown-up and now had a family to take care of. Suddenly, all the

106. Describe someone you studied with who is successful in their life
You should say:
- Who this person is
- How you knew him/her
- What makes him/her successful
And explain how you feel about studying or working with this person

Well, I haven't had the chance to work with someone in a professional setting
as I am a student. However, I can talk about a classmate from my junior high
school, My , whom I truly admire for her accomplishments.

M and I were classmates during junior high school. She stood out not only for
her charming and cute appearance but also for her impressive academic
performance. What particularly caught my attention was her exceptional
sense of style and fashion, even with simple and affordable clothing. My
aspired to be a fashion designer in the future, displaying a keen interest in
clothing and fashion, yet never compromising her studies. While her
classroom performance was consistently within the top 10, her true passion
lay in her dream of becoming a fashion designer.

As we moved on to senior high school and were no longer in the same

classes, we still kept in touch through social media, primarily Facebook. I
learned that My had started an online clothing store, which had become a
remarkable success. Balancing her business and academic commitments, she
continued to excel in both domains. In my eyes, she was already a young
achiever, having achieved remarkable success at such a tender age.

For me, My, my junior high school classmate, is the person I would like to talk
about regarding success. She not only demonstrated academic excellence but
also pursued her passion for fashion, successfully balancing both. I find her

107. Describe an area of science that you are interested in

You should say:
- which area it is
- when and where you came to know this area
- how you get information about this area
And explain why you are interested in this area.

So, one area of science that has always fascinated me is robotics, particularly
the field of autonomous robotics.

I first came across autonomous robotics during my undergraduate studies in

engineering. It was in a robotics course where I had the opportunity to delve
into the world of robots that could operate independently, making decisions
and performing tasks without human intervention. The concept of machines
having the capability to mimic human cognition and carry out complex tasks
on their own left me intrigued.

To gather information about this area, I rely on a variety of sources. Firstly, I

regularly follow the latest research publications and articles in robotics
journals and websites. These sources provide insights into cutting-edge
developments, from autonomous drones to self-driving cars. Additionally, I
attend webinars and conferences related to robotics whenever possible,
allowing me to learn from experts in the field and stay updated on emerging
technologies. Furthermore, I engage in online forums and communities where
enthusiasts and professionals discuss robotics trends, share ideas, and
showcase their projects.

The reason I'm deeply interested in autonomous robotics is its immense

potential to transform various industries and enhance our daily lives. The idea
of robots being able to operate independently not only opens doors in fields
like manufacturing, healthcare, and space exploration but also has the

potential to solve complex real-world problems. For instance, autonomous
robots could aid in disaster relief efforts, explore hazardous environments, or
even assist individuals with disabilities in their daily tasks. The blend of
science, engineering, and technology that underlies autonomous robotics is
awe-inspiring, and I'm passionate about contributing to this exciting field.

You should say:
- When it happened
- Where it happened
- What the problem was
And explain how you solved the problem at last

Oh, I remember this one time when I faced a really frustrating computer
problem. It was during my university days, around two years ago, in the
middle of the final exam week. I was in my dorm room, working on a major
assignment that was due the next day.

I had spent nearly a week researching and compiling data, and I was in the
final stages of typing out my report. Everything was going smoothly until, all of
a sudden, my computer screen just froze. I couldn’t move the cursor, couldn’t
switch between tabs – nothing. I couldn’t believe it. All my work, days of effort,
seemed to hang in the balance.

I tried the classic turn it off and turn it back on trick, hoping it would do the
magic. But when I restarted, my document was nowhere to be found. I hadn’t
saved my work for the last couple of hours, thinking nothing could go wrong,
as we usually do.

Feeling a mix of despair and urgency, I decided to consult a friend of mine

who was good with computers. He came over and tried a few recovery
methods. After what felt like hours, but was probably just about thirty minutes,

94
he managed to retrieve a previous version of the document from the
auto-save files. It wasn’t the latest version, but most of my work was intact.

I learned my lesson big time! From that day on, I not only frequently saved my
work but also kept backup copies on an external drive and cloud storage. It
was a stressful experience, but it taught me the importance of being prepared
for unexpected tech glitches.

109. Describe a time when you enjoyed visiting a park or a garden

You should say:
- Where it is
- When you often go there
- What you often do there
And explain what it is like

One of my favorite places to visit is Central Park in New York City. It's located
right in the heart of Manhattan, making it easily accessible to both residents
and tourists alike. I often find myself wandering through Central Park
whenever I need a break from the hustle and bustle of city life.

I usually visit Central Park during weekends or whenever I have free time after
work. The park offers a peaceful retreat from the chaos of the city, allowing
me to unwind and reconnect with nature. Whether it's a leisurely stroll along
the winding pathways or a picnic on the lush green lawns, Central Park offers
a variety of activities for visitors to enjoy.

One of my favorite things to do in Central Park is to rent a bike and explore

the vast expanse of the park on two wheels. The park is filled with scenic trails
and hidden gems waiting to be discovered, and biking allows me to cover
more ground and see more of what Central Park has to offer. I also love

visiting the Bethesda Terrace and Fountain, which is a beautiful architectural
landmark surrounded by stunning views of the park.

Central Park is like an oasis in the middle of the bustling city. The moment I
step foot inside the park, I'm greeted by the sight of towering trees, blooming
flowers, and tranquil bodies of water. The sounds of birds chirping and leaves
rustling in the wind create a soothing soundtrack that helps me relax and
recharge. Whether I'm alone or with friends, Central Park never fails to provide
a sense of peace and serenity amidst the chaos of urban life.

110. Describe an advertisement you have seen that you think is good
You should say:
- Where you can see it
- What it shows
- Why you think it is useful
And explain how you feel about it

Alright I am going to talk about a memorable ad that I remember well,

although it was aired quite a while ago. The advertisement is about Comfort, a
brand of fabric softener made by a company called Unilever.

Honestly, I am not entirely sure when I first saw this advertisement. If I’m not
mistaken, it was a couple of years ago when TV commercials were in their
prime. The advertisement is so memorable that sometimes I still look it up on
YouTube to show my students what a good ad looks like.

The most interesting thing about this ad is its meaningful message. While
other commercials at the time tended to be short and focused on humor to
attract customers, Unilever paid attention to the content and built a story
around Lily, a caring housewife, and Andy, a famous rock star. Despite his
fame and success, Andy never forgets his family, because deep down he

always feels his partner’s love just from the smell of Comfort’s long-lasting
freshness. The company even created a series of ads, instead of just one, to
deliver the message better. I think this was a costly but effective strategy, as
Comfort soon became a household name after this campaign.

112. Describe a time when you gave advice to somebody

You should say:
- When it was
- To whom you gave the advice
- What the advice was
And explain why you gave the advice

When I was in high school, I experienced a situation that I had never thought
that I would be in. In the middle of the night, my best friend suddenly knocked
on my door, begging me to let her in. I could feel the resentment that she
was giving off. Well, turns out she had a feud with her mother about the future
career.

The fight was so fierce that she said she decided to move out straight away
and pursue her dream job, which was to become a graphic designer despite
the fact that her mom and the whole family preferred her to be a teller at a
bank. They all thought doing a design job would never provide her with a
stable life both mentally and financially.

I sneaked her inside. Once she was in my bedroom, we had a heart-to-heart

conversation for the whole night. One advice that I gave her was that she
should go home in the next day since it was no use running away like that.

IELTS KIEN NGUYEN HOTLINE : 0559887869

98
The way she went into a sulk was just like when children didn’t get the toys
they wanted from their parents.

I told her that instead of holding a grudge against her parents, she should
take the initiative to explain her studying plans and employment prospects if
she decided to join the design field. They were just having a poor judgment of
the job, so having a serious talk would somehow make them understand
more. She did cry a little bit when we were chatting, but I think that was a
good sign because she didn’t let her emotions pile up. In the end, she came
home the following day.

What surprised me was that she actually listened to my advice, and as a

result, my friend’s relationship with the family improved substantially. It was a
moment to remember, to the point that we still laugh about how childish and
impulsive the situation was until this day.

gathered around a crackling campfire, sharing stories, laughter, and delicious
grilled food.

This camping trip was particularly new and exciting for me because it was my
first time spending a night in the wilderness. I had never slept under a starry
sky, listening to the rhythmic sounds of nature. The tranquility and simplicity
of the experience allowed me to disconnect from technology and reconnect
with myself and my friends.

I'd like to share an incident when I experienced a disappointing service at a

restaurant about six months ago. It was an Italian eatery with many positive
reviews, so I was really looking forward to a chance to dine here.

I went there with a group of friends for a birthday celebration. Everything went
smoothly until the main course was served. I had ordered a pasta dish, but

when it arrived, it was undercooked and lacked the flavor I had anticipated .
Even worse, the waiter seemed inattentive and uninterested in addressing
our concerns .

Feeling dissatisfied with the meal, I decided to politely bring it to the waiter's
attention . I explained the issues with the undercooked pasta and the lack of
flavor. Unfortunately, the waiter seemed indifferent and merely offered a
half-hearted apology without offering any solution or replacement. This lack
of responsiveness surprised me, as I had expected a more customer-oriented
approach from a reputable restaurant.

In dealing with the situation, I decided not to escalate the matter further
during the celebration, as I didn't want to spoil the mood for my friend's
birthday. However, after the event, I took the opportunity to share my feedback
on the restaurant's online platform, hoping that it would reach the
management and prompt improvements.

The overall experience left me disappointed and frustrated. I believe that good
service is crucial in the hospitality industry , and the restaurant's failure to
address my concerns significantly impacted my perception of their
establishment .

One part of Vietnam that I find incredibly fascinating is the Mekong Delta.
Situated in the southwestern region of the country, I first became acquainted
with this area through travel magazines and recommendations from friends
who had visited.

The Mekong Delta is renowned for its intricate network of rivers, canals, and
lush green landscapes. It's often referred to as the "rice bowl" of Vietnam due
to its vital role in agricultural production. The region is famous for its floating
markets, where locals trade various goods directly from their boats, creating a
bustling and vibrant atmosphere.

What truly makes the Mekong Delta stand out to me is its rich cultural heritage
and diverse way of life. The delta is home to a myriad of ethnic groups, each
with its own unique traditions and customs. Exploring the delta allows visitors

cuisine to witnessing traditional festivals and rituals.

Over the past two years, I had the opportunity to engage in an activity that left
me feeling incredibly tired. This memorable experience took place in the
picturesque provinces of Lam Dong and Binh Thuan.

The activity that drained me both physically and mentally was trekking. It is a
demanding outdoor activity that involves long walks through challenging
terrain such as forests, mountains, and streams. It typically requires
participants to carry backpacks with essential supplies, navigate uneven
paths, and endure various weather conditions.

During this particular trekking expedition from Lam Dong to Binh Thuan, we
embarked on a multi-day journey through dense forests and hilly terrain. The
steep ascents and descents, coupled with the unpredictable weather, made
the trek even more arduous. The weight of our backpacks, laden with
camping gear and provisions, added to the physical strain. The muddy trails
and slippery rocks made each step a careful calculation, and we had to cross
several streams, making it even more challenging.

What made this trekking experience so tiring wasn't just the physical demands
but also the mental aspect. It required a great deal of determination and
perseverance to keep going, especially when the exhaustion set in. However,
the stunning natural beauty of the pathway, with its lush forests, cascading
waterfalls, and breathtaking vistas, served as a source of motivation.
