Introduction (Lời mở đầu)
The environment is meaningful and have an important role in
human life. Protecting the environment is also protecting our lives.
If the environment is polluted or destroyed, humans and all other
living creatures hardly or survive. In order to contribute to
environmental protection, propaganda and raising awareness for
people is very necessary. So today, my group will have a
presentation to give you better understanding on environmental
issues as well as it’s safety.
Giới thiệu thành viên:
Before moving to the topic, I would like to talk about members in my
group. My group consists of 9 members: *Liệt kê thành viên*, and
they contribute each part in today's presentation. And now let’s
begin.
1. Môi trường nước (Water Environment)
As you can see, these are the images about water pollution.
Today, our rivers, streams, reservoirs, lakes and seas are gradually
contaminated with chemicals, waste, plastic and many other
pollutants. This is the reason explains on what you see are seriously
polluted, negatively affecting the health of humans as well as
animals and plants caused by water pollution.
Water pollution is quite common in Vietnam and has a very negative
impact on people's health. Water is indirectly killing more people
every year and is increasing over time. In Vietnam, the natural
water source that is drinkable and does not harm the body is almost
zero. If we do not take action, the amount of clean water we can use
in the future will be less. Quite a lot compared to now.
Currently, there are many causes of water pollution and one of the
main causes is human waste. Some reasons are:
First, Industrial waste
Industries are producing large amounts of waste containing toxic
substances that can seriously pollute the environment and pollute
the water sources and directly affect us humans.
These industrial wastes contain toxic chemicals such as lead,
mercury, sulfur, asbestos, nitrates and many other toxic substances.
Many industries do not have wastewater treatment systems but
discharge them directly into the environment (sewer pipes, rivers,
etc.) and then into the sea. It is this source of dirty waste that causes
the water to change color and temperature and is dangerous for
organisms in the water source.
Second, Waste
Every day, households provide a large amount of waste such as
rubber, glass, plastic, paper, aluminum, etc. and a lot of it is
discharged directly into the environment (of course we are just
saying most (but not all) directly affect the land as well as rivers,
streams,...
These types of waste can take from half a month to 200 years to
decompose. When these wastes fall into the water, they not only
pollute the water source but also cause serious harm to animals
living in the water.
Leaks in landfills
Landfills are places where a large amount of waste is collected from
a large area for processing. In these areas, the air will have a
terrible smell.
They can also directly affect the surrounding environment,
especially households living around these landfills.
You can see these pictures according to each problems
-Factories and industrial parks do not discharge wastewater into
rivers, lakes and ponds -Pick up trash from rivers, lakes and ponds -
Do not throw trash into rivers, ponds and lakes, causing pollution.
Lung problems to human and creatures
Effects:
Water pollution not only causes direct dangerous consequences to
the health and life of humans, animals and plants on earth, but also
leads to a decline in the economy.
Consequences for humans
Using polluted water sources for a long time will increase the risk
of intestinal diseases, cholera, skin diseases, and more dangerously,
it will cause us poisoning and diseases such as cancer and birth
defects. in young children….This directly affects our health,
longevity and productivity.
Consequences for organisms and plants.
The fact that untreated waste is discharged directly into the
environment causes the life sources of living creatures to be
seriously polluted. Especially aquatic creatures gradually die
because their habitat is directly affected.Chemicals and bacteria
that exist in water cause living organisms and plants to gradually
die, causing an imbalance in the ecosystem
2. Môi trường đất (Land Environment)
Let’s talk about land. Soil environmental pollution is the
introduction of hazardous waste or energy into the environment to
the extent that it negatively affects the lives of living things and
human health. Or degrade environmental quality. Specifically, there
are some reasons that gives negative impact.
People's waste
Domestic waste during human life such as garbage, food, plastic
bags, plastic bottles, domestic wastewater, etc. Because these types
of waste are discharged directly onto the surface or buried in
household waste. So the soil environment is increasingly seriously
polluted. In addition, promoting urbanization, industrialization and
transportation networks; Along with the impact of air from
industrial zones and urban areas, it also causes land pollution.
Industries
Current industrial activities are generating dust, wastewater, and
garbage into the environment. Causes serious pollution of the soil
environment. For example, dust from cement factories, stone mining
facilities, etc. In addition, other waste comes from mechanical
production activities, steel, metal processing, car and motorbike
repair,... containing many heavy metals and grease. But wastewater
treatment technology is not up to standard.
Effects:
Effects on land:
When the soil environment is polluted, it will change the soil
structure, easily erode and lose inherent nutrients when there is
heavy rain. More obesity can cause loss of ability. exploitable
capacity of the land.
Effects on health:
Long-term exposure to contaminated soil can lead to diseases such
as cancer, leukemia, liver toxicity, etc. In children, it can increase
the risk of allergies. Congenital defects, respiratory disorders and
skin diseases,...
Impact on water sources: According to the appraisal mechanism,
soil environmental pollution still negatively affects the
supplementary water circuit. This is considered extremely
dangerous for humans, because today most of the water used in
daily activities comes from supplemental water sources.
Impact on animals: When the soil is contaminated, many animals
have to move to other areas to live. At this time, we have to find
ways to adapt to the new environment, but there will also be many
species that cannot adapt and die.
*Current student actions to overcome land environmental
degradation
Promote environmental propaganda and education throughout
society to raise awareness and sense of compliance with
environmental protection laws, and the social responsibility of
people and businesses in preserving and protecting environment
Planting trees and greening bare hills: Forests play an important
role in protecting the environment. To do this, we need to expand
tree planting areas and prevent deforestation.
Prioritize the use of organic products: This is also considered one of
the solutions for farmers to limit the use of chemicals such as
pesticides and herbicides during the growing process.
Save energy: To generate electrical energy, people will have to burn
fossil fuels. However, this has caused a large amount of nitrogen to
be released into the air and deposited on the ground, thereby
leading to soil and water pollution
3. Môi trường không khí (Air Pollution)
Certain gases in the atmosphere can cause air pollution. For
example, in cities, a gas called ozone is a major cause of air
pollution. Ozone is also a greenhouse gas that can be both good and
bad for our environment. It all depends where it is in
Earth’s atmosphere.
Air pollution happens when solid and liquid particles—
called aerosols—and certain gases end up in our air. These
particles and gases can be bad for the planet and for our health, so
keeping track of them is important.
Any particle that gets picked up into the air or is formed from
chemical reactions in the air can be an aerosol. Many aerosols
enter the atmosphere when we burn fossil fuels—such as coal and
petroleum—and wood. These particles can come from many
sources, including car exhaust, factories and even wildfires. Some of
the particles and gases come directly from these sources, but others
form through chemical reactions in the air.
Aerosols can come from other places, too, such as ash from an
erupting volcano. Dust, pollen from plants and mold spores are also
examples of aerosols.
The consequences of air pollution have very negative impacts on the
living environment around us. It is one of the causes of global
climate change such as:
Greenhouse effect
Ozone depletion in the stratosphere
Acid rain
Lung problems, such as cancer, which is very dangerous.
