Safe Rescue Skills
LET US SEE THE IMPACT OF THIS SOLUTION
GLOBALLY!
Swim America (USA) runs over 900 swim schools across the US. These schools have significantly improved
swimming competency among children, thereby reducing the risk of drowning.
AUSTSWIM (Australia) runs over 1,200 accredited swim schools. The country’s comprehensive approach to swim
education has contributed to a notable decrease in drowning incidents.
New Zealand operates hundreds of swim schools nationwide and has observed a reduction in drowning rates
among school age children due to this proactive strategy.
Swim Safe (Bangladesh) implemented by the icddr,b and other partners, has taught over 500,000 children to swim.
The initiative has resulted in a substantial reduction in drowning rates in the region where it operates.
PROPOSED SOLUTION
To address high drowning rates, we propose establishing a
comprehensive SWIM SCHOOL focused on teaching essential
swimming skills, water safety, and safe rescue techniques across all
age groups. This proactive approach is strongly endorsed by the World
Health Organization (WHO) as one of the actions to prevent drowning.
