Sachin Tendulkar is a former Indian cricketer. He was born on 24th April, 1973 in Dadar,
Mumbai. His father, Ramesh Tendulkar, was a well-known Marathi novelist and his mother,
Rajni worked in the insurance industry.
On 11 December 1988, Tendulkar was selected to represent Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy,the
youngest Indian cricketer to score a century(100) on debut in first-class cricket. He made his
Test debut on 15 November, 1989 against Pakistan. His ODI was also against Pakistan on
18th December, 1989.
Sachin Tendulkar’s run scorein Tests, with 15,921 runs, as well as in ODIs, with 18,426
runs. He received many awards and honours. He received Arjuna award in 1994. He was the
recipient of Padma Shri in 1999. He was awarded Padma Vibhushan in 2008 and the
greatest Indian honour, Bharat Ratna was given to him in 2014.
