There is more to playing chess than attacking and taking pieces. You also need to pay a little attention
to your own pieces. Moving away, protecting, capturing and interposing are the ways you know about.
We shall take a closer look at some of these methods.

On the left, the g5-knight is in

danger. There is nowhere it is safe.
Fortunately White can still protect
the piece by line clearing. White

a computer or in the car with a sat-nav. You also have to move pieces from one square to another on a
chess board. When you do so you have to take care that your opponent can't capture one of them. Let's
