WORK METHODOLOGY

The works will be carried out in accordance with instruction to tender and in constant
coordination with the client.
The methodology to be followed work maintains cost scheduled resource equilibrium and will
consider and communicate its impact on the social economic life of the people living in the
project area.
The various methods and schedule to be scheduled to be followed are as below in summary.

RESOURCE MOBILIZATION
The required plants, equipment and personnel shall be gathered in time agreeable to the client
and deployed to site in order of priority. The following equipment will be provided
> Grader
> Excavator
> Tippers 2No.
> Concrete mixer
> Vibrator
> Balloon for culverts
> Roller pick-up
> Flatbed lorry
> Water tank 2No.
> Wheel mounted
> Pickups
> Drum vibrator

SITE SETUP
A camp site will be setup from which point of team will be working and shall form a temporary
coordination office for the project. The site will be approved by the client before
operationalization and it shall as well host the working equipment and plant.
SITE SURVEY
A survey of the entire project shall be done before work starts and details taken as per instruction
from the client representatives and engineer. This will help in gathering the specific resource
required and their deployed in time. Since the work involves various aspects such as site
clearance, excavation and filling for structures, culverts and drainage works, grading, gravelling
and concrete works, specific plants and skills will be required.
This will jointly be identified by us and the client at this initial survey.

PROJECT EXECUTION
The project shall then be executed as per the tender in the following manner;

 Site clearance: after the required sections of the road with bushes, hedges and other
vegetation has been identified and instructions given by the client, this work will be
performed by engaging local labor and machine if necessary.

 Excavation and filing for structures: after sections that require excavation and filling
are identified by the clients representatives, necessary plants and personnel shall be
deployed and executed accordingly. Gabion protection works shall be carried out as
shown in the drawing or as directed by the Engineer.

 Culvert and drainage: sections that may require culvert and drainage work shall be
installed upon instruction. The contractor shall ensure free flow conditions by excavating
in any material for culverts, sub soil drains, meta drains, and catch water drains and
outflows. The contractor shall unblock or desilt existing pipe culverts of up to 1200mm
diameter including inlet/outlet wherever instructed by the engineer, Laborers and
foreman shall be available as resources.

 Concrete works: section that requires concrete works will be identified in accordance
with the instruction from Resident Engineer and necessary equipment and personnel
provided for the execution.
 Grading: by using a grader to grade instructed sections according to required standards
and specifications.

 Gravelling: excavator shall be used in a barrow pit/gravel site to excavate gravel from an
approved site. Tippers shall be used to transport / haul gravel to required locations A
roller and water bowser to appropriately compact the gravel laid. Excavated gravel from
an approved quarry is hauled and dumped on the carnage way at an appropriate spacing.
The gravel will thèn be spread, shaping to ensure uniform trickiness of the layer across
the full width of the road and specified camber.

 A pickup to transport staff to and from the site: also it shall be use of security purposes to
ferry security personnel.

AWARENESS:
Awareness on the project shall be created through sign boards after the approval by the client.
The local community shall also be informed of any works that may interfere with their
inconveniences and any possible employment will be done through community leaders and
authority.

COMMUNICATION
There will be regular communication to the clients on the project progress and updates. Guidance
will also be sought accordingly for effective and timely delivery of the project. This
methodology will be strictly followed and shared with all stakeholders. If awarded we shall avail
a work program indication specific items and skills and the time they shall be availed and for
what aspect of the projects.

TRAFFIC MANAGFMENT
This ensures a safe passage of the traffic at the construction sites at all time and I necessary
construct and maintain an adequate diversion for traffic complete with all the necessary road
traffic signs. We will provide the following if awarded the contract.
 Warning signs
 Temporary restriction signs
 Advance warning signs
 Barriers
 Temporary signs

QUALITY ASSURANCE
All the scope of works contained in the Bill of quantities must be followed to the latter and
quality of work must not be compromised. If awarded the said contract we will appoint a
manager whose responsibility is to check the quality of all the materials that is used in the
project. The contractor will ensure all the machines allocated to various section of works are in
good working conditions, properly and of the right kind for the activity. Qualified operators will
be employed on these machines for the best results.

ENVIRONMENT POTECIION
We will ensure to satisfaction that the impact of the construction of the environment shall be kept
to a minimum and that appropriate measures are taken to mitigate any effects during the
construction, all the works be done to environmental friendly. Once the road is substantially
complete the contractor will clew the camp and leave the campsite in a good state. All materials
sites will be restored to standard acceptable to NEMA.
