2v2 Attacking Concepts

• Width-Attacking Players split to create space


• Support- from the Second Attacker to the First
• Penetration- Drive at Goal
• Disguise- Delay intention to dribble or pass until late as possible

Coaching Points

• First Attacker commits defender


• Dribbling Techniques
• Passing Techniques
• One-Two Movement- movement/pass
• Overlap- Communication

2v2 Defending Concepts

• First Defender delays and denies space


• Body Position- Channel opponent. Isolate First Attacker
Organization • Second Defender supports team mate

• Defending Player (Red) on ball passes to either Attacking Player (Black). Creates a
2v2. Aim for either team is to get ball over line. • Avoid being split too far- angle and distance
• Allow for transition if happens during practice
• Second Defender be aware of second attackers position
• If ball goes out of play- next group starts
• After set time (recommended 2minutes) swap groups • First Defender tries to deny pass
• Both Defenders position themselves in relation to the goal
• Communicate with each other
Progressions • Awareness of Offside

• Rather than Attackers (Black) starting side by side they have one higher on pitch.
• Rules are the same as initial practice
• This creates another different 2v2 scenario
