“PULGARCITA”

Once upon a time there was a woman who had no children, but she had always wanted to have
a girl.
His dream didn't come true, so he went to see a witch. She told her wish to the witch, who gave
her magical barley grains and told her: "Plant these grains and you will see the magic the next
day."
The woman was happy and returned home. In a pot he planted the seed and waited anxiously.
The next day, he woke up and saw the seed turned into a beautiful flower by magic. The woman
looked inside the flower and was surprised. Inside was a tiny girl who looked no bigger than a
thumb; Then, the woman smiled at her and took her out of the flower.
One night when Thumbelina was sleeping, a frog suddenly jumped through the window. The frog
wanted Thumbelina for his fat, ugly son, so he carried her jumping across the garden.
The frog was afraid that Thumbelina would run away, so he put her on a lily leaf and left her
floating in the middle of the pond.
A butterfly saw that Pulgarcita was in the middle of the lake so she decided to help her. What she
did was throw the tip of a belt at her so that Pulgarcita could hold on and could pull the leaf she
was on. However, the little girl didn't count on anything else. Later he would face more obstacles
and outside the home he would suffer hunger, cold and sadness.
The next day, Pulgarcita was walking from one place to another because she didn't know where
to go, suddenly she passed the house of a rat, who invited her to live in his house in exchange
for her cleaning his home and telling him stories.

One day, the field rat said to Thumbelina: "My friend the mole is coming to visit me. So,
Thumbelina wanted to prepare something special to welcome him."
The mole visited the field rat and Thumbelina sang a beautiful song to receive him. When the
mole heard it, he loved her voice and fell in love. So he invites Thumbelina to come to his house.

On the way to the tunnel they found a wounded swallow and Thumbelina, who had very good
feelings, took it, took care of it every day and fed it. The mole proposed to Thumbelina; She
rejected him but he insisted.
As the eve of the wedding approached, Thumbelina told the mole that one day she wanted to
take a walk in the open field. The mole accepted. When Thumbelina was wandering in the field,
she heard a familiar melody:

"Winter is approaching and I will fly to warm lands.

Come with me! "

Thumbelina saw her friend the swallow. Quickly, he clung to her and they flew through the sky.
During their trip they saw a country of flowers. The swallow slowly came down and put Thumbelina
on a flower.

There she met the King of the Flower Fairies. The King fell in love with her at first sight and asked
her to marry him. Thumbelina accepted the proposal and they soon got married. Now

- Thumbelina was the Queen of flowers!
