Zecharia Sitchin and the Earth Chronicles
I am honored to dedicate this issue of the Sacred Spaces newsletter to the memory of
Zecharia Sitchin and his half century of translation, insatiable curiosity and persistent
interrogatories into the origin of homo sapiens. He was a man of integrity without the
pomp and circumstance of the need for fame. Sitchin's notoriety came unbidden during
his beginning endeavors expanding into larger, more extensive groups of people wanting
nothing more than to sit and listen to this quiet, humble man.
I have often been asked why I present Sitchin's work or why I believe it is true. How
does the work of a student of Hebrew, Akkadian and Sumerian blend into the work and
offerings of Sacred Spaces? And, of course, as in every walk of life, there are also the
nay-sayers who doubt the validity of Sitchin's work. Quoting him in the January 10,
2010 New York Times article, "Well, you could start by calling me the most
controversial 89-year-old man in New York,” Mr. Sitchin says. “Or you could just say I
write books. I understand you’ve got to have an opening sentence, but describing my
theories in a sentence, or even something like a newspaper article, is impossible. It will
make me look silly.”
"Z" or "Zach" always told it "like it is" ~ he didn't pretend to know something he had not
thoroughly studied and was one for asking questions about everything. This is the
answer to the question posed to me "Why?" I would devote months, if not years, of my
life to studying his work. We now have technology available to us explaining what the
ancients were doing, saying and creating. In addition to this technology is the study of
language and the original paintings that accompany the words or thought pictures
together with the events that have been verified as having occurred in the earth.
Sitchin's work makes so much sense in so many ways. It not only fills in the gaping
holes of evolution, it also clarifies the Bible and the other sacred texts held in honor by
the various religions. When I do my own research and find science or archeology
stumped by a certain finding, I hold it up against the light of Sitchin's translations and the
enigma disappears – every time.
When young Z was first ridiculed by his teachers for seeing the original meanings in
ancient languages rather than the common definitions taught in school, he knew he had
found his calling. Though he spent part of his life working in journalism and later as an
executive in a shipping company, his spare moments were occupied with studying,
leading archeological tours and writing. Eventually, his fame as an author took over and
he became the renowned scholar we know today.
To those who say that some of Z's findings are "off" by so many years or that the stories
he tells do not meet with the mass mind consciousness and what it believes, I like to
reflect upon the fact that only one sentence in his 15 or so books has to be true to make
every belief held within mass consciousness incorrect. From the Old Testament to the
histories of Egypt and South America, from the origin of writing, math and astronomy to
biological science, the ancient texts as translated by Sitchin hold the answers to the origin
of the human species in the form we recognize today. For instance, I find it interesting
that human control of fire is deemed to have begun about 400,000 years ago. Sitchin's
work tells us the Annunaki came here from Nibiru about 450,000 years ago.
Coincidence?
I invite you to delve deep into the work, mind and heart of this integrous scholar. Start
with the 12th Planet and the Lost Book of Enki. By the time you have finished reading
these two amazing stories, your view of life in earth will be forever changed . . . and that
is a good thing.
