Pat Martino Lick and Pattern

This document describes a bebop lick and pattern played by jazz guitarist Pat Martino. The lick is highlighted in yellow and can be played in different octaves connected by three note connectors shown in blue. The lick can be played two ways, with or without a shift, as demonstrated in three examples. The lick can be combined in different ways down the fretboard and while walking back up. Notes encourage experimenting with jumping octaves as Martino does in the example video linked.

NOTES:

This is a lick that you can use by playing it in several different octaves and
connecting them with three notes in between.
The lick is highlighted in yellow, and the connectors are blue.
The lick can be played two ways:
o (1) with shift->Examples 1 & 3
o (2) without shift->Example 2
But the lick is the same in all three examples, just played differently, for different
purposes.
Try combining the lick in different ways down the fret board, walking back up and
doing it again.
NOTE: He walks up in big steps jumping octaves, maybe try to figure that out.
