What can be done to improve the reliability and
quality of online preaching?
Online preaching is getting popular day by day. It’s usually based around
trending topics that have a short video format either on YouTube, Instagram,
TikTok, Facebook, etc. These are very likely to have the context eliminated and a
very direct answer that can be taken in many ways. This is a huge concern, even
for the authentic and trustworthy scholars as their reputation and word is
tarnished.
The ways to improve the reliability and quality of online media depends on the
scholars and their media managers. If they have faith, they follow the righteous
path then they will do the right thing and post real authentic information
however if it’s the opposite then there is nothing the people, government or
anyone else can do to change that besides banning content and creating content
moderators and regulations for the online content. This would likely cause civil
outbreak in the name of the freedom of speech and therefore either the media
will be regulated under a dictatorship leadership or there will be freedom to post
whatever anyone wants which will again bring us back to point zero.
These are times where the world is contradicting everything, it’s more like a
phase of paradox. There is no control over false information on the internet and
there are no ways to improve the reliability or quality of anything besides what
we upload ourselves, therefore the ball is in the individual’s pocket, if he is
willing to post false information then there is no stopping that especially after
wanting freedom of speech ourselves. A dictatorship leadership is not the right
way to lead either so again, this is another paradox that cannot end, therefore it
all sums up on our capabilities and adaptability.
The only way to seek the truth is by making our own selves capable, if we want
to find the truth and an authentic source then there is no barrier in between
besides our access to internet or our will to do so. The information online is
increasing everyday, with the right and wrong content. Unless we don’t possess
the ability of analyzing the truth and false, there is no point on relying on online
information besides the word of Quran and Authentic Hadith. Those who do
possess this ability are not special, only a few days of practice and determination
is required in order to differentiate between the content. It’s not necessary to do
it all by ourselves, we can rely on close friends, groups, relatives and our families
who possess this capability. We can ask around with them and it’s very likely that
either most of them or at least one of them knows how to use online platforms
effectively for authentic answers. The more we discuss with others, the more we
learn and that is why religion shouldn’t be kept a secret, we should try to gain
and spread authentic information if we really want to make a difference and
have reliable content.
