Q: Rich people are getting richer while poor peo,ple are getting poorer. Why Is It happenln1?

What are Its effects, and how It can be tackled?

Income disparity between the affluent and non-affluent sections Is Increasing. An ineffective education
svstem is responsible for the same, and owing to It, the crime is increasing. while the innovatlons are
decreasing. Moreover, approaches to revamping the education svstem to mitigate this problem are
discussed ahead.

Most schools are not Imparting flnandal knowledge. Teachers are making their pupils job-readv and not
teaching about saving monev, taking flnanclal risks and making Investments for bigger profits. For instance,
the concept ef assets and liabilities is not a part of the formal education system tlll 11th grade. Hence, being
unaware of effective monev management techniques Is making the poor even poorer.

Lacking the right knowledge, poor people may even Indulge in aimlnal activities. When they observe rich
people enJovlng luxuries, thev could get lured bv their lifestyle, and to be like them, some follow unfair
means, such as Involving In robberies or thefts, therebv, leading to an unsafe society.

Further, It leads to lesser discoveries. Had wealth been distributed unlformlv among all, evervone would
have got an eq ual opportunity to put forward their Ideas at everv platform; however, fewer people
participating In declslo.n -maklng results In the slow progress of the sociefy.

Nevertheless, the afore-mentioned adverse effects can be avoided bv reforming the schools' currl!culum.
Flrstlv, by having financial management topics In primary classes, poor chlldren can also acquire money
management skills from the verv beginning; addltlonallv, they could be taught trading as well as negotiation
skills by conducting regular make and sell events. Resultantly, children from economlcallv weaker sections
would become capable of climbing the economic ladder.

In conclusion, this essav has covered three aspects: the Ineffective svstem of schools resulting In the wealth
gap; rise In law-breaking besides fewer inventions from it; and wavs to improve the education svstem to
bridge the economic gap.

Q: Some people believe that it Is best to accept a bad situation, such as an
unsatisfactory job or shortage of money. Others argue that It Is better to try
and improve such situations. Discuss both these views and give your own
d lon.
Which out of the two - admitting to the state or making endeavours for a change - is a
better way of reacting to an adversity? Admittedly, there is less pain involved in the
former case, yet I support the latter approach for a permanent relief. L
In order to avoid the suffering, many choose to adapt to the bad situations in their lives. im;

This is since in this way, they do not require making any efforts either by working for
extra hours than their regular routine for preparing themselves to confront with their
problems or by contemplating ideas for discovering a solution. For instance, my friend,
Jack, stayed at the same position with a meagre wage and biased boss for a long instead
of pursuing his passion of having his own business in the service sector, which demands
working day and night in the beginning to grow clientele. For these reasons, a belief is
held that finding contentment even in hard times is better.

Despite the temporary satisfaction in the above case, for a permanent solution, it is
prudent to attempt to ameliorate the circumstances. Although quitting the comfort of
being in the usual setup may initially lead one to mental or physical stress, it is
eventually when the person gets rid of the problems in his life and has nothing pulling
him down from achieving more, thereby, providing even greater joy than one received
from being contented with rough patches. To support, had Jack not finally decided to
quit his job, he could never have ended his misery in the 9 to 5 shifts.

In conclusion, indubitably, one has to undergo some agony while bringing change in an
unfortunate state of life; however, for a forever way out, attempts must be made.

Nowadays the culture 1s much the same all around the world when compared to
previous ttmes What are its reasons? Do you think this is a pos1t1ve or negattve
development?
---------------
Response:

The trend of various places' cultures becoming increasingly identical can be

observed across the globe. Globalization and the internet can be held accountable
for this change; moreover, it will have fruitful consequences in future as it results in
lesser dlscrimination among people.

L Most importantly, the exchange of goods and services across borders has led to the
above development. This is because with increased trading between countries, not
only are more people travelling to other parts of the world and witnessing their
cultures but also foreign products depicting their culture are readily available than
ever before. Consequently, the cultures are getting mixed and losing their
uniqueness. To exemplify, had Chinese toys and dresses not been sold in India, the
residents of the latter place would not have started following the forrner's culture up
to a significant extent

Besides internationalizatioo, the World Wide Web is responsible for similarity in the
cultures. The reason behind the same is that through the internet, the youth is either
getting lured from lifestyles of international celebrities, such as of Hollywood, or
getting aware about traditions being followed by other nations' residents through
video calls, a service being provided by many social media platforms like Facebook,
thereby, getting encouraged for following cultures of other countries.

Moreover, this change in society is reducing stereotypical thinking towards any

particular culture. Since the similarity in the belief system and appearances of people
is increasing, people are finding fewer differences between each other, which are
positive as it is improving the relations between the countries. A study has disclosed
that racism in Canada has significantly reduced when even rigid followers of various
cultures started following similar cultures.

In conclusion, owing to the movement of people and items around the wor1d along
with access to information through the internet, the cultures around the globe are
getting common than in previous times. Further, it is a positive development as it
promotes equality.

Should the toological gardens be shut down for mistreating animals, or are they beneficial In t heir survival? Although
these creatures are kept as captives, I find the latter view to be more loglcal owing to the shelter along w ith the in·
time care provided by the wildlife parks to their dwellers.

Admittedly, animals reside in restricted zones In zoos. This is because in comparison to the area in which an animal
can roam around in its natural habitats, such as in forests or natural water bodies, the zoos offer a far little space.
Consequently, a belief is held that by taking away the freedom o f wildlife, zoos are piling on the agony of these living
being without considering their feelings.

Contrarily, this limitation aids In timely monitoring of the animals. Since in zoos, animals cannot hide from the
medical experts' eyes for a longer period, any psychological problems or diseases occuring in their bodies can be
detected quickly, thereby, assisting in providing a well-ti med treatment To exemplify, had Jacky, the polar bear in
Savannah zoo of Africa, been allowed to roam freely in snow-capped mountains, the medical team could not have
traced its depression in time.

Besides ease in regular check ups of the wlld species, the cages provide a safe environment to them. Fi rstly, in zoos,
lhe animals dre )ilfe frum any pedalurs, which include nol only other aninrdls being their prirmuy coruumers in food
chain but also humans as poachers. Secondly, they are gaurded from natural calamities, for instance, bushflres,
floods as well as thunderstorms. All this results in saving the llves of both endangered and normal species.

To recapitulate, animals are, indubltaly, kept in captivity In zoos; however, for their proper supervision in addition to
the protection from external factors, zoos are vital for preserving them and must be allowed to run as usual.

Although getting a credit card is no longer a challenging task in this contemporary era,
not repaying the loan in time causes problems for a few. The demerit of credit cards,
which Is the possibility of spending more, Is insignificant In comparison to the merits of
facility to use these in emergency and transparency in transactions.

The above development may lead to e.xtravagancy. This is because of the allowance to

she could not have spent more than the amount in her bank account In the last mont~
Due to the extra spending from credit cards, people might have debts that they cannot
repay.

Despite the probability of being spendthrift, it is clearly beneficial in several types of

crisis. Since a person can pay money instantly through credit cards when one is not
carrying cash or even do not have in his savings, it can assist in saving lives in medical
emergencies or in fetching life-changing opportunities, such as related to jobs or
starting a business.

Moreover, no exchange of money between people remains hidden from the

government. The reason behind this is that every transaction through credit card gets
digitally recorded, thereby, generating more revenue for the government in form of
taxes.

In conclusion, with credit cards, there are chances of splurging more money than the
balance one has; however, the undisputable fruitful consequences of their use in critical

Q: Some people argue that technological Inventions, such as mobile

phones, are making oeople socially less Interactive. To what extent do you
agree or disagree?

Socializing among people, in this contemporary era, is being affected by discoveries in technology.
Does the argument that It Is making people more reclusive hold any logic? Considering the reduced
distances between people, the availability of effective features to communicate along with the
benefits to professionals, I find the above argument t•o be flawed.

Modern gadgets have enabled people to contact thefr acquaintances llvto, In far-lluna areas. This Is
because of the inventions of not only real-time messaging but also live video chats that people now
are in touct, with their relatives and friends while enjoying the comfort of their homes. Had such
discoveries not been made, they would have to either take leaves from their hectic schedules to
maintain their bonds or the relations would have weakened. However, the benefits of technology
are not limited to increasing the range of communication.

Communication has also been made more effectlye by te<hnolotf. With the help of emotlcons or
by changing the format of a text, people, nowadays, can convey their messages in a clearer manner,
which was not possible In previous times wheh the omly plain text was sent through letters. For
instance, one can bold or underline a part of the text on whicJ, the reader's more attention ls
required . Even the language barriers are disappearing with the help of translators.

Along with the above merits on a personal level, people can also communicate w,!I professionally.
Both more opportunities of communication in terms of conducting training or interviews Oller new
applications, StJch as Skype, and new methods of passing information, like sending audio-visual flies
along with electronic mails, are present now. Consequently, it has improved the level of formal
communication, too.

In conclusion, better communication among people's; personal and professional lives has been made
possible by modem gizmos; therefore, I am strongly convinced that socialization in modem
civilization has not been adversely affected due to Inventions in technology.

Q: It Is more Important to have a good family than to have friends.
Family can always compensate for the absence of friendship. To what extent
do you agree or disagree1

Indubitably, the family provides support even when friends are not close; however, do they play a
more significant role in one's life than friends? I find It to be true because family provides better
advice and a more comfortable environment to be with than friends besides their unconditional
love.

One can1get better suuestlons for his future from his family members. This Is because parents In
one's family are more experienced than his friends, who are mostly of the same age. Consequently,
by following his parer;its' advice, there are fewer chances of committing mistakes In life than
listening to what a person' s friends say.

Besides helping In making the right decisions, the family Is easier to adlust with. The reason for It Is
that one is with his famlly members since chlldhood, which makes it easier to understand each
other's nature and adjust accordlngly, whereas, In the case of friends, one needs to make extra
efforts and change his behavior to maintain a strolflg band.

Most importantly, the family loves selflessly. Since the bond between family members is natural, but
the same is made after thinking about one' s benefits In the case of friends, one may expect support
from members of his family even when he cannot return the favor. Had my friend's f ather, for
Instance, thought of Jhe return on investment, he would never have looked after his son' s expenses
while allowing him to do volunteering work for two years.

In conclusion, owing to the beneficial advice, relaxed environment and unselfish love one gets from
his family, I am convinced that the role of the family is bigger than that of friends in every person's
life.

repercussions are usually in the form of delay in seeking medical advice

Primarily, solutions to almost every kind of ailment over the World

either from the discussion forums, where people with past experiences
or even a few well-being specialists recommend home remedies, or
from biogs and mobile-phone applications.

In addition to the on line advice, the suspicion of outcomes of taking

in media of patients' deaths in hospitals due to wrong medication or
organ trafficking but also the side-effects of some medicines have
scared people from going to hospitals or taking medicine according to

particular culture. Since the similarity in the belief system and appearances of people
is increasing, people are finding fewer differences between each other, which are
positive as it is improving the relations between the countries. A study has disclosed
that racism in Canada has significantly reduced when even rigid followers of various
cultures started following similar cultures.

In condusion, owing to the movement of people and items around the world along
with access to information through the internet, the cultures around the globe are
getting common than in previous times. Further, it is a positive development as it
promotes equality.

Q : Space exploration costs taxpayers an exorbitant amount of money each year. What are
the advantages and disadvantages of spending money on space exploration?

Give reasons and examples from your personal experience.

Write at least 250 words.

A tremendous amount of taxes funds space discoveries. While the risks to the planet and a new
home for humans can be foundL its demerits of lesser money for other development projects along
with more space debris cannot be overlooked.

These programs warn of potential threats ahead of time. This is because monitoring other planets
may reveal the causes of their lack of life or life's extinction; moreover, the likelihood of a rock or
ot her solid o bject colliding with the Earth may be determined by analyzing its location. For instance,
had the Sputnik satellite not been in place, a meteorite that impacted the globe a few years ago
could not have been anticipated. Consequently, timely Interventions may rescue the Earth.

Besides find ing these menaces, new

E
planets to live on can be found. The reason for the same is that
through continuous endeavours, a planet with either suitable conditions to sustain life naturally or
sufficient resources for producing an artificial atmosphere might be found, which means the human
life may be able to endure by relocating to such a planet once Earth becomes uninhabitable.

However, progress in other fields is hindered. Since a significant part of the government's treasury Is
spent on space research, not much is left for construction or improving fundamental Infrastructure,
w hich can ease the current generation's pain.

The ~pace is also left untidy. With more shuttles and their carriers being sent to the space, more
garbage is created, leading to accidents and disturbing natural cycles.

To summarise, this article has explored two elements of taxpayer-funded space programmes:
positives, such as predicting future environmental problems and finding a new habitat. and
negatives, which are not only less financial resources for other progressive goals but also rb-o-llu_t_e...,

Q: Some people argue that technological Inventions, such as mobile
phones, are making people socially less interactive. To what extent do you
agree or disagree?

Socializing among people, in this contemporary era, is being affected by discoveries in technology.
Does the argument that it is making people more reclusive hold any logic? Considering the reduced
distances between people, the availability of effective features to communicate along with the
benefits to professionals, I find the above argument to be flawed.

Modern gadgets have enabled people to contact their acquaintances living In far-flung areas. This is
because of the inventions of not only real-time messaging but also live video chats that people now
are in touch with their relatives and friends while enjoying the comfort of their homes. Had such
disccweries not been made, they would have to either take leaves from their hectic schedules to
maintain their bonds1or the relation s would have weakened. However, the benefits of technology
are not limited to increasing the range of communication. _

Communication has also been made more effective by technology. With the help of emoticons or
by changing the format of a text, people, nowadays, can convey their messages in a clearer manner,
which was not possible in previous times when the only plain text was sent through letters. For
instance, one can bold or underline a part of the t ext on which the reader's more attention is
required. Even the language barriers are disappearing with- the help of translators.

Along w ith the above merits on a personal level, people can also communicate weU profe.s.slonally.
Both more o pportunities of communication in terms of conducting training or interviews over new
applications, such as Skype, and new methods of passing information, like sending audio-visual files
along with electronic malls, are present now. Consequently, It has improved the level of formal
communication, too.

In conclusion, better communication among people's personal and professional lrves has been made
possible by modem g izmos; therefore, I am strongly convinced that socialization i n modern
civilization has not been adversely affected due to inventions in technology.

The rise of convenience foods has helped people keep up with the speed of the .W
modem life style. What are the adva ntages of this trend ? Do the advantages ~

outweigh the disadvantages? ~

Managing with the fast-paced world has been made possible with the increased use of
foods taking lesser time to prepare. Its merits are accessibility of food to more individuals
and their saved time, which are more significant in comparison to the demerits of fewer
people with culinary skills.

Admittedly, the availability of pre-prepared foods is reducing the number of people knowing
ways to prepare, cook and present food. This is because they are not spending time in
kitchen. To exemplify, I would not have forgotten baking a cake had I not shifted to eating
more Maggie, semi-cooked noodles. Consequently, not only are there fewer individuals
interested to pursue career In cooking profession, but also the traditional food Items are
becoming extinct.

However, it has increased the count of well-fed masses. Since the dependency on others
who have the knowledge of preparing food is decreased, the cases of malnutrition or
complete starvation have lowered with the help of convenience foods. In a survey on
hostellers, it was found that nine out of every ten students deal with their hunger in the
night time by consuming canned products.

Besides aiding in satiating more people's appetite, having these foods is less time-
consuming. The reason is these include foods which are semi-cooked, such as frozen
veggies, or ones requiring no further efforts, for instance dry fruits and yoghurt, which helps
people to be more productive in their other personal or professional areas.

To recapitulate, with society switching to convenience foods, indubitably, the traditional

ways of preparing food are being forgotten; however, considering the considerable benefits
in terms of having more people with access to food and reduced wastage of time in cooking,
the positive effects overshadow the negatives.
